I was stationed in Germany for 6 years while in the military during the 80's , during my time there I made many friends. What I discovered was that they knew more about African history than anything I had ever learned in school in the USA. They showed me books from middle to high school where this history was intertwined with European history and so much credit was given to the Africans for their contributions to the world. I was told that this was MANDATORY education in school. Why not HERE? These books would be college level education here. I was blessed over 20+ years ago to be able to see this artwork in books and loved how it existed. School libraries use to have an abundance of art books focusing on different countries, but mainly Europe, depicting hundreds and maybe more, of statues and paintings of Madonna and child that were black. It was amazing.

@@cfoster6804 I’m from America and no they are not. the problem is you go to the wrong Churches. If you was Orthodox or even Catholic then you’d likely know about them. Only Protestants would likely not know about these icons because they have no appreciation for tradition and have a preference for shallow modernity, they abandoned the chanting of the Psalms in favor of Christian Pop and Rock music and they abandoned Iconography for images of movie actors portraying Jesus. These Icons were not hidden it’s just that America is majority Protestant so you won’t see them in churches. You rarely see them In Catholic Churches but they do still appear in some of the more traditional churches. That is the case in the vast majority of "black" church fathers/Jesus. These icons spend sometimes hundreds of years with candles and incents burning all around them, the soot collects, then later the icon is touched up, for some reason they avoid touching up the actual people and as a result you get this contrast of a very bright background and rely dark people. Its been thoroughly studied in depth. they are not black people they are white but covered in soot. Unintentional blackface if you will.

The iconic "BLack Madonna and Child" are well known throughout Europe and Africa. The Black Buddha with authentic hair is also iconic in Asia.
