"We faced all the hardships and difficulties, there was a lot of it. But we won, we rebuilt our state, brought order to the country. What followed is a different question. So how could I not be happy?," said 87-year-old veteran soldier Ivan Baranov.
Fellow veteran Stanislav Petrakov said it was important to be remembered: "You know for a veteran, the t…

I always wondered how Russian soldiers managed to adjust back to normal life, considering how many did not come home, and even if they did because of the nature of the Eastern front their family might not be there. And also some were looked on with suspicion and some ended up in the gulags as “traitors”.

1:03 (I speak on behalf of my people The United States) The "boycott" could have something to do with the fact that this was a Russian event, coordinated by the Russian government, for Russian veterans so of course, the United States chose not to participate in it. We don't consider it disrespectful when Russia doesn't participate in honoring our veterans, we don't expect them to. Why should they expect us to participate in a parade honoring their veterans? We have nothing but appreciation for the great help our Russian allies gave us in World War II, but our nation should not be expected to participate in a parade for your veterans. Every nation has a duty to take care of its own veterans, not those of other nations. RT is a Russian state - funded television network this would cause them to act in favor of the Russian government which doesn't like or trust the west. Regardless we will never forget the help of The Soviet Union in defeating the axis powers in World War Two and they will never be forgotten.

@@Awesomichael Check out all the material Allies (eapecially USA) sent to the USSR. The port of Murmansk was a critical lifeline for the Soviets from 1941 to 1944. That's why USA said to Finland that if they advance further, USA has to declare a war against Finland. Finland had plans and was capable to advance to the coast of White Sea. That would have led severe difficulties to support USSR.

It's not stalin who forced them, its the fear of germans did. They knew what would happen to them as adolf is a fascist and a nationalist dictator style of ruling. They don't want to be conquer and when news of horrible war crimes reached them, they volunteered.
