Scores of people have been fleeing from Ukraine ever since Russia attacked the country. However, for people with pets, the struggle is worse. Touching accounts of people holding on to their pets are flooding the internet. Rishabh Kaushik, a computer engineering student has been in Ukraine for 3 years.

I can't help but think how many people in the US have evacuated their homes when hurricanes are coming leaving their pets behind in places that weren't safe for them. High praises to these people that in the midst of horror they don't leave their pets. 💖🐶🐰🐱🦜 So sad for them!

I can't even imagine leaving any of them behind. I remember boarding one of my dog's and came back to seeing her paws burnt where they walked her on hot payment. I never boarded any of my pets after that. It was at a vet's where I boarded her, too! Boy did they get a ear full from me LOL

@@lzrd8460 God told us to take care of the animals. A lot of people forget that. I didn't put it in my OP but I specifically remember one hurricane in my area seeing video footage of dogs left by their owners outside and they were drowning if not for someone in a boat that came by and rescued them. Not sure how some people live with their selves? I got a lot of hate awhile back when I posted at a video where it showed a pet left when fires came when I posted the owners should had taken their pet with them. Well, just tells me what kind of people they are that would hate someone for taking up for defenseless pets.

I contacted the Irish refugee council yesterday & told them we would foster any Ukrainian pets while their owners are sorting accommodation here in ireland. We are also getting a small bedroom ready too for a person fleeing. The Irish refugee council said they had a number of calls from Ukraine people worried about their pets. We hope we can help them in any way.

Thanks to Romania, Poland and Hungary to let in the pets too. It's a sign of true humanity. If you lose all and can keep your dog or cat it helps your soul to overcome the war situations you passed trough. It's cruel to let them stay alone to die. It is so HORRIFIC that people have to suffer (the young, the old, the infirm and loved ones braving the fighting) but animals - so defenseless & sinless - just heartbreaking,. So true Molly : I found that out one day as I was coming home and I saw smoke coming from a house in my neighborhood. I have no idea how close or far away it was or whether it was my house. I absolutely love my house in South Florida on the water. But at that moment, all I thought about or cared about was my little 5 pound Maltese dog. I thought as long as I don’t lose her I haven’t really lost anything. Yes a life is more precious than any of our possessions. ❤️😪

I was in a flood. And was separated from my pets. When I got to my house I refused to leave my pets. And there were others in my neighborhood like me. We all refused to leave our fur babies behind. A state senator at the time arranged for our pets to be taken to safety. We only left the flood area when our pets were safe. Some would think that was ridiculous but our pets are our family. You don't leave your family behind in a crisis.

I really appreciate these people taking their pets with them in evacuating due to the dangers brought by the ongoing war. However, I just can't bear to imagine the situations of those stray animals on the streets there in Ukraine with no family belonging to such as those stray dogs and stray cats. It must have been very difficult for them as they are not the same with these other animals that are pets of certain families. It's so heartbreaking to think about it. This war really needs to stop as soon as possible so that everything will be back to normal once again.
