I like everything in that ration. The chocolate spread reminds me of fudge. Your breakfast main is good with sugar sprinkled on it. Never had the boxed drink's like that before. Great review Steve 👍

This one was set up really cool I like the juice boxes. The lunch main is great the peas and carrots really brings out the flavor. 2 mains didn't even need even need pepper. That makes this a winner for sure. All looked high quality. Nice Review.

The commercials for those boxed/retort pouch drinks always looked so cool and made me want them so bad as a kid growing up in the 70s. But they were so expensive that I was an adult before trying my 1st Capri Sun. I wasn't missing anything as it turns out, except flavor and a drink with more than 2 swallows. LOL

Borscht is one of those items that you like or do not like. The best way i can describe it is go to the store and buy a can of sliced beets. If you like them then you will like Borscht.

I've never wanted to be a Mil Mi-24 Hind pilot so bad in my life.....not only do I get to fly a tank, I also get fed well.......these Russian rations are so far superior to anything I saw when I was in the Army and anything that I see from the military rations being issued the US military.

flying the Mi-24 would be an amazing experience. They fly like a boat though, so much weight it takes a mile to turn when you're moving at a decent speed haha.

One thing that always puzzles me is how energy dense are the fuel tablets. I presume they are somewhat better normal fuel tablets, otherwise getting three meals & four drinks might be a bit problematic. Anyone?

I've had these IRPs (ИРП-Б) in the forest environment while tracking. The most fuel efficient use of the tablet is not to fully open the can, just the tip for the air to escape and help the steam to circulate inside a can. And the fuel tab will be enough to heat your meal and to form small bubbles in your army/tourist aluminum/titanium mug, enough to brew a tea or coffee. But yeah, I preffered to use my campfire to heat up the water, since you can miss the moment when your meal is already, but the tab is almost gone and you can' t get your tea.

I just don't understand the tomato sauce. I want a Russian soldier to tell me what they do with it. I mean I like ketchup on stuff but there is rarely anything worth putting it on in the same ration but maybe the stewed meat or Kasha I suppose but they give you a lot. Do they eat it on the crackers?

I really would like to know too. I have had it in a couple of Russian rations. It's not plain tomato sauce though there are a lot of spices in it especially cardamom.

It is weird that they include a stove with the ration if the ration is meant for helicopter pilots like that would be really stinky cause of the espit tablets.

This isn't exactly what you think. It's for the people who serve at alternate airfields. Not just pilots, but all the other airfield personnel. Pilots take these rations with them in case they get shot down. Under normal circumstances, they eat in the officers' mess.
