After Russian President Vladimir Putin announced partial mobilization in September, hundreds of thousands left Russia. German politicians promised protection to those who refuse to fight in Ukraine - but getting asylum in Germany for Russian draft evaders is not as easy as lawmakers made it sound to be.

Despite everything you could hold against them, I as a German personally think every Russian that refuses to fight for Putin deserves to receive asylum in our country. But a requirement for this is for them to openly oppose this war. You can't have it both ways; you can't flee your country's mobilisation and still be a patriotic Russian who opposes our values. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

@@sollte1239 That's malarkey. Of course we have space. We even have jobs and flats, we have space for entire families. The only problem is to quickly let them in and immediately allow them to work. The sooner they work, the better they feel, the more taxes they pay, the better for everyone in Germany. It could be a bonus for all of us, if only we would allow them to take jobs! However, most are not allowed to work by law, despite them wanting to work. As a result they feel bad and cost us money.
