Trying RUSSIAN FAST FOOD. What do people in SIBERIA eat?
Although the international #fastfood brands have moved in to #Siberia there are still many local take-away joints that are incredibly popular throughout #Russia - we decided to explore a few of the most famous ones from this part of the world, from Russian #pancakes to Siberian bakes.

The details of daily life that you film are fascinating. The development where your grandmother lives is also very interesting. Is it far away from the city center, or are you walking into the center on some of your excursions? Or is it basically self contained regarding shops and services?
@MattandJulia
@MattandJulia 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Chris! The area where my Gran lives is about a 15 minute bus trip (or 45 minute walk) from the centre. We actually walked into the centre when filming the "Stereotype of Siberia" video, it was a lovely walk but because we kept stopping to film it took a lot longer than 45 mins and we got very chilly 😀 There are lots of shops and services around my Grans area, and all of the other parts of the city actually, that's one really interesting thing with Russian cities, you have the centre which is usually a beautiful part to walk in and has restaurants etc but people could near enough live perfectly easily without the need to visit the city center all the time 😊 X

It's good to be able to get a realistic idea of what everyday life is like in Russia. When I was growing up during the Cold War era, we never really got to see what life was like in the former USSR. All we got from our media was that it was grey, bland and very austere.

Who knows, was it right or just the management was not up to the local norms/customs, but this first attempt to export the Russian fast food chain to the "West" failed.

That's my native city, hell yeah! Kemerovo, love you! Thanks a lot for showing local snacks and fast food, it's really interesting to see the pirozhok or the podorozhnik to be tasted by people from other countries. Hope, you'll do more videos like that. Anyway, enjoy Siberian vibe and best wishes to you.

I came to ur videos by chance. I love to see different ways of live of others Countries, but Siberia by far is the most interesting. Had never had seen Pastry with meat inside and the pancakes with caviar. I noticed that most of the food has different kind of meat inside. Rare but that’s their way of live so I’m sure the people there loves it. But in all, the I like the place, it looks real clean and quite. But the cold ufff, and u star seen light around 10am. Interesting! Keep the good work guys, I’ll keep watching ur videos.

Hi Joshua, welcome to our channel, lovely to meet you 😊 We are the same in that way, we also find it interesting how other people live, feels like it’s bringing everyone closer if you know what I mean 😊 If you like caviar definitely try it with pancakes (and cream cheese or butter), it is so delicious 🤤 Thank you so much for your kind words and wishes, means the world to us!

When I go hunting up in northern Montana by the Canadian border in November(didn't have the money this year though), the temperatures have gotten as low as -41°F, crunchy snow/ice sounds just like it. Being born and raised in the Pacific Northwest(Oregon and Washington), after a week or two I'm ready to come home to a more temperate climate lol.
