In March 2024 RUSSIA BANNED the Export of All Gasoline for 6 MONTHS. The official reason given wss planned maintenance of the Oil Refineries and to ensure sufficient supplies for Russian Consumers and Agriculture however it has now been announced that the ban is being EXTENDED until the end of October raising further concerns that Russia is having PRODUCTION PROBLEMS. In this video I look into this issue in more detail and provide more details on the problems that Russia is now facing.

Refineries here in North America get shut down every year for a couple of weeks and causes a bit of a hiccup in supply. Imagine if you are being hit by drones without access to parts and skilled people!

Interesting point I read about russian inflation is that the GDP includes includes military output, but those prices have been frozen by the kremlin, so 0% inflation. This stat helps to hide the 30-40% increase in consumer goods, therefore showing a much smaller overall inflation figure.

I'm not sure your logic works. Usually the inflation figures that are reported are *consumer* inflation. The issue you mention might affect the GDP deflator but probably not consumer inflation.

Maybe you're a bit confused about how inflation is measured. When measuring inflation, you have to always make a *choice* about which prices are included in the index and with what weights. One choice is take the goods and services that an average consumer consumes weighted according to their share of the consumer's spending. When you're talking about a country X having an inflation rate of Y% without specifying what kind of index you're using it's basically always going to be some kind of consumer inflation. Thus e.g. "inflation in the US" is pretty much always going to be CPI (or maybe sometimes PCE), not some other index. This kind of index is not going to be (directly) affected by the price of military output. Now there are also other kinds of price indices. Instead of a basket of consumer goods you can also take a basket of what the country *produces* weighted according to the amount of production of each product. An index like this is called the "GDP deflator". It presumably includes e.g. tanks and bombs so it could be affect by government policy directly affecting the prices of tanks and bombs. However, if you just google e.g. "inflation Russia", the figure you're going to find is not the GDP deflator but rather some kind of consumer index. For what it's worth, the inflation measured with the GDP deflator has in the past been much higher than the reported consumer inflation but it has come down a lot and in 2023 is seems to have been slightly below consumer inflation. However, I don't know how reliable the data from Russia is. "PS - sell your rubles" I don't have any Rubles to sell.

The mega-refineries can easily create tons of fuels, but again, the products can not be sent to customers and consumers. Now consumers will claim "there is a shortage of fuel!!". No there is not, but there really is a major shortage of fuel trucks! Of course all hits of refineries is a good job and helps the soviets to understand what war means, but the production for domestic consumption of fuels, is not really affected. Of course the soviets can't fix their blown up refineries, which is very nice too.

No. Last I heard perhaps 15-20% of capacity is down. Some refineries are so far east they are hard to reach. But yes, Ukraine is working on it :-)

Price of gas here is 40-60 cents per liter. It's heavily affects local market with abroad prices 3 times higher with inflation import.
