Hi Johnny, I suggested this kit a while ago in one of my comments. Being a lover of Soviet vehicles I am looking forward to seeing what you do. ChKZ is the Russian abbreviation for Chelyabinskiy Kirovskiy Zavod, which translates to Chelyabinsk Kirov Plant. The Chelyabinsk Kirov Plant is a tractor factory in Chelyabinsk, Russia.

Hi Simon, you and I have something in common, we both like Soviet vehicles. This one looks to be a very nice kit, should be enjoyable to build. Thanks for the info on ChKZ, I did notice after finishing the video that it is mentioned in the history section of the instructions, guess I should read those more closely next time, lol. I'll include that in the next video. Thanks so much for watching, take care and have a great weekend. Johnny

Hi Johnny, great unboxing and really looking forward to your attempt at the figures with this one👍 the grandkids have put you on all my devices now so I can catch you on tv too 😃 no more squinting at a phone screen and hopefully no more excuses at being late on parade. Stay safe my friend, see you next week 😎

Hello Ian, I do plan on tackling the figures in this kit. We'll have to see how that plays out, I'm not a very good figure painter, LOL. Nice to know that you have tech savvy grand kids, they will keep you connected, or confused, or both 😁Thanks for watching, take care and model on! Johnny

Great video Johnny.I’m glad your building this kit as I’ve got one in my stash and it does look a very nice model..The casting and weld cuts are a good detail added by Tamiya..So looking forward to your build..Have a wonderful week and all the best.!🇬🇧🇺🇸👍

Hi Paul, I have to admit that I do like the WWII Russian/Soviet Armor, and this kit has all the little details we usually have to spend hours on adding already there for us. Should be a fun build. Take care and have a great weekend! Johnny

See you like a lot of military models Mike So I'm signing up with you. Thanks Nick

Hi Johnny, this will be a great build, these tanks were huge, good luck with this latest build video, happy modelling and have a great weekend, best regards from Australia, Les
@hillbillymodelingАй бұрын
Hi Les, I agree, it should be a great build. I'm especially happy that we have the link and length tracks in this kit. I wish Tamiya would upgrade all of their older kits that they keep re-releasing with some of these. Thanks for watching, enjoy your weekend my friend! Johnny

JS-2...what a beast of a tank!! Wouldn't want to be the turret when it was fired.....122mm....Ouch!! They must have went a deaf as lamp post!
@hillbillymodelingАй бұрын
Hey Basil, I don't know, I've never been inside a tank turret when the main gun was fired, but you're probably right, I wouldn't think it would be pleasant. It is a beast; I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks for watching, take care and model on my friend, Johnny

Looks nice and it is a Tamiya kit... so you got my attention for sure 🙂

Hey Johnny! I have never built a Russian tank and you have convinced me to pick one up. The rubber tracks can always be used to leave track marks in plaster for a diorama but I am sure you know that lol . We are getting a light dusting of snow this morning have a great weekend eh! ✌Canada✌
@hillbillymodelingАй бұрын
Hey James, you are right, those rubber tracks will be great for making track marks! I'm very happy that Tamiya has included link and length tracks in this kit, I wish they would add this style tracks to all of their old kits that they keep re-releasing, that would be a pleasant surprise! Sorry to hear about the snow, but it is November, and you are way up there in Canada, LOL! I'm actually visiting friends at this very moment in Georgia, a little rain right now, but yesterday was sunny and 80 degrees. Take care and have a great weekend! Johnny

Nice unboxing Johnny, I'm looking forward to your build. Individual track links have better mold detail and build up with better sag track look but I always prefer the rubber band tracks for motorizing😊
@hillbillymodelingАй бұрын
If you intend to motorize you will need the rubber band type tracks for sure David. This kit was never imagined by Tamiya to be motorized but I'm sure you can manage the conversion considering your experience with that sort of thing. Thanks so much for giving it a look. Johnny

Hi Johnny, This looks like a great kit. I'll be watching for the build. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff
@hillbillymodelingАй бұрын
It has all the quality and detail that we have come to expect from Tamiya Jeff. I especially like the link and length tracks. Thanks for giving it a look my friend! Take care. Johnny
@MX5FanaticАй бұрын
This looks like it's going to be a great build. I might have to track one of these kits for myself. Tamiya have come quite a way from the days when their kits still had the motorization holes and such. Also, I like your Shogun pronunciation of the Tamiya name.
@NickPoeschekАй бұрын
Heck, even lots of the old ones with the motorization holes still look pretty darn good for the price. Especially for kids or aging modellers who don’t want to deal with hundreds of tweezer size pieces and lots of photoetch. But I know what you mean about modern Tamiya, I built their 1/48 Tomcat last year and the fit was like magic. Impeccable engineering!
@hillbillymodelingАй бұрын
Hey Christopher, Tamiya has come a long way with this kit. They have added lots of detail like the flame cut plate edges and nice weld seams, things we usually take lots of time to add ourselves. Should be a great build. Thanks for watching. Johnny

Hi 👋.. new to scale modeling, new to your channel, I subscribed. I really like how you tell what you doing in detail and explaing why, the tips on products and techniques is also great and , really helps out a beginner as myself. 👍👍
@hillbillymodelingАй бұрын
Awesome, thank you! I try to not be like some of the other modelers on KZbin where they have a complete build from to start to finish in 22 minutes, lol. We both know that's not realistic, although it is entertaining it's just not very informative. I'm no expert but I think I manage a decent build. I myself just returned to modeling about 4 years ago after not building anything since I was a teenager, things have really changed in modeling since then. So, I'm still learning too! Thanks so much for your sub and good luck with your next build my friend! Johnny

@hillbillymodeling Thank you Sir for taking the time and replying. I haven't scale modeled in 40 years, at 58 and my physical condition I'm looking for a cool hobby I can do indoors that can be therapeutic that doesn't cost a fortune. I'm a WWII enthusiast, love vintage toys and cars and have always been artistic. love to watch KZbinrs builds and like you said modeling has changed a lot since the 70's. It just seems scale modeling is right up my alley, I have tools, gotta get paint and want to airbrush. there is a lot products to choose from and techniques to learn before I can dive in. Will continue to watch has I gather my things together. thanks again 👍👍 Howard
@hillbillymodelingАй бұрын
@@v4victory665 Hi Howard, I personally love modeling, can you tell? I think you will enjoy the hobby. When you get to the point that you are comfortable with your skill you can always pick up an old kit that has lots of problems and see what you can do with it. I personally love old kits that challenge me, that way I don't get complacent, LOL! Since your getting back into modeling I suggest you get your "sea legs" with a Tamiya kit or two, or more. They go together very well and then it's just up to you for the paint and affects you want to use. Have fun and enjoy the hobby my friend! P.S. If you ever have a question, I'll do my best to answer it, don't be shy, we're all in this together! Johnny

@@hillbillymodeling you have been too kind, thanks so much for the advice. I do have a old Revell swift boat level 2 to build and I have seen some recommended Tamiya kits like the Willie's Jeep. I will binge watch your videos.

My only complaint with this kit is that the decals were extremely fragile.
@hillbillymodelingАй бұрын
Hi John, sounds like a storage issue. Tamiya decals are really thick and robust, many modelers often complain about the thickness. If these become fragile it is either because of age or being exposed to heat for extended periods of time or both. This can happen if you get a kit that was stored in a shipping container or even an attic space for a while. It is worth mentioning also that storing kits in high humidity can cause problems with decals as well, but this is less common. Thanks for watching. Johnny
