No, if you project on long term, the Russians are stocking men towards the +500K threshold, while the Ukrainian have basically recruited all they could and are now slowly eroding their troops. Unless the West decides to enter WWIII, on the long term, the Ukrainian army will collapse due to the demographic shifting that is taking place. UAF has fought so far a Russian Army they've outnumbered, but this has just changed (and we can see the outcome on the counter-offensive) and the balance is about to shift dramatically... I think eastern Ukraine is lost for Kiev...

It is important to say that Russian mobilization of troops is a real threat, if we take the winter war for example as a parallel in the Ukraine war ( go to 6:57 on the video) where Russians start outnumbering their enemies and being able to sustain heavy casualities, mobilizing more than their opponents and still being able keep the fight is what makes the nature of Russian doctrine , Russian army may not be the best professionally or doctrine wise, but in terms of being able to sustain heavy losses and not colapsing is what makes it a dangerous opponent.

There is actually an increase in Ukrainian troops due to the mobilisation of 8 new battalions being prepared for the counter offensive, ukraine has a surplus of divisions in reality with not enough equipment for all of them.

not enough equipment for all of them probably applies much more to Russia than Ukraine(at least if you count post 1970 equipment..). But yes, the number is frontline troops, not total troops, Russia as we have seen keeps next to nothing on its non-frontline borders and relies on Belarus as a scarecrow in the north. We can assume Russia has near to 100% of effective troops on the frontline while Ukraine has a far deeper pool of reserves that are not represented on the frontline as they need to be prepared for conceivable threats like Belarus entering the war.

The numbers are completely made up and distracting. AFAIK Ukraine now has approx 500-700 thousand armed forces personnel, while Russia has some 300-500 thousand deployed in Ukraine. These are rough estimates, the real numbers are unknown.

Ukraine has trained a lot of men we simply don't know how many they are very keep at keeping this information a secret like the brief counterattacks on the flanks of Bakhmut, nobody saw that coming. Or Kharkiv where we were not at all expecting such a fast attack. Odds are both are estimates with major give or takes, causality rates are incredibly hard to account for properly here. I would assume these are estimates of troops that are in the frontlines already, Russia has definitely exhausted its mobilization.

So now we see Russia finally having a superiority in manpower in comparison to Ukraine. 370,000 Russians on the front line, against 340,000 Ukrainians. It definitely will be interesting to see whether or not Ukraine will be able to bring even more reserves to the front lines, and see Russia's reserves aswell. Rumours have been circling around in February that Russia mobilised another 200,000 reservists, but that doesn't necessarily have to be the case. It will be interesting to see although if this superiority in numbers will actually grant Russia the possibility to make a major breakthrough of the front lines, or if they will wait for the Ukrainians to strike with their counter offensive first, exhausting their manpower, and then they will strike. Nonetheless, one thing is clear, unfortunately more young people will have to die for some warmongers.

Throwing meat at a defensive position hoping it will break through isn't such a great tactic in modern warfare. The Russians newer tanks and "elite" troops are all dead and destroyed with T54's/72's and mobiks taking their place while Ukraine are getting the latest tech and training from NATO countries. Either way it will be an interesting summer

@@kevinjenkins6986 I mean, sure if you deny the fact that Russia has around 200 T90M tanks, with 300,000 reservists that they have mobilised in September, alongside active personnel. Plus this was just partial mobilisation, not full mobilisation. And again, those are not "conscripts", they are Russian reservists that have already been in Russian service once, now called back for additional 3 months of training for combat operations in Ukraine. Of course however, you are welcome to speculate whatever you want though. Production of tanks like T80BVM, T72B3M, BMP-3 IFVs, and more are also underway, and if there is any escalation from the west and Ukraine to use even more modern weapons, T-14 Armata will be deployed too, with Russia having around 100 of them in service, though for a war like in Ukraine, there is no need to use latest type of technology. This is a war of attrition, not a war of fashion of who has the better looking vehicles.

Another interesting map for me (as for a Russian). The comments are also interesting. It was especially interesting to read all this array of data, opinions and analytics (at that time), being in today's day. I mean the Ukrainian counter-offensive that began a month ago. At the moment, it is stuck (to the south), and the fighting resumed near Bakhmut. As for the general troops since our invasion: It is known for certain that 3 groups of troops entered (their notes, I think you saw; "Z", "O", "V") in three directions. 1 - north, 2 - south, 3 - west. The total number reached 170-180k (including the military republics of the DNR / LNR), not immediately, but PMC "Wagner" came, they can be estimated as 10-15k. And that, if "rounded up" ~200k. Ukraine at that time (now we know that it was preparing and knew) carried out the first mobilizations and trained 340-350k soldiers. Of these, theorodefense (created shortly before the invasion) in the limit of ~100k and 190-200k was in the Donbass. At the start of the map, the author indicated almost the correct numbers. By the time of September 2022, when we (the Russians) had to leave the Kharkiv region, and the Ukrainians leveled the entire front in the Donbass, the obvious became clear - a small number of Russian troops. At that time, Zelensky officially said that Ukarina had a half-million ( ~500k) army and, if necessary, would bring it to the figure of 1 million. As we know, Russia announced the first "partial mobilization". Its official results: 280k called up (300k planned), 30k+ volunteers. Before our invasion and throughout the conflict, Ukraine did not stop "partial mobilization". At the moment, after a month of counteroffensive, general mobilization is announced in different regions of Ukraine. We do not know the exact number - Ukraine completely hides the numbers of mobilized, as well as losses (almost from the beginning of the conflict). Russia also keeps silent about the losses. The only thing we know: Russia 200k + 300k mobilized, +30k volunteers (temporarily minus the Wagner group;) ). ~500k Let me explain the numbers. Prigozhen (the founder of "Wagner") said that the maximum composition of the "Wagner" group was ~50k (remember the volunteers after the "partial mobilization"). He also let slip that during the entire period of hostilities from the very beginning (more than a year) he lost 20k soldiers. He also said that the regular troops of the Russian Federation lost "2 times more than he did during this time." Ukraine started with ~300k, by September 2022, according to information (including official), the army totaled ~500k. also, 8 brigades (1-4k soldiers) were prepared for today's counteroffensive. We take an average value of 2.5k = ~20k They have been preparing all this time in the EU (created by NATO). Also, a huge number of combatants from more than 20 countries and mercenaries, including soldiers from all NATO countries. I can't even name the exact number... The result "on paper" and not counting the losses: ~500k Russia and about ~520+k Ukraine. And yes, I agree, for the first time in all this time, Russia, probably, has evened out in the number of soldiers. I would like a more responsible and correct approach to this time in which we live. Then, in the history books, there will be "dry summaries" and "alternative history", and no one will care.

Neither side's numbers can be trusted, but moscow's claims have been sillier than Monty Python. In most categories they claim to have destroyed far more equipment than Ukraine ever had (Often multiple times over), while also massively underclaiming losses (As chaf nazi himself pointed out as he started his march towards moscow). What you define as winning and losing is what allows someone say which side is winning or losing. If the war goals of Russia was to prevent ucrain from joining nato and also demilitrise ucrain. I remember a night 24.02.2022, I had very vivid dream where I was finnish volunteer in Ukraine and our division was inside a building and the russians demanded surrender or they would bomb the building killing all of us. We surrendered even tho I wanted to fight and we were sent to prison camp and I woke up, The morning my mom told me that russia had attacked Ukraine. If you don't believe me, I know atleast that god knows.
