And that’s only the block 50 let alone the further evolutions and mods adding fuel tanks, electric warfare capabilities and irst. The only reason they’re still around is due to the fact they’ve reworked nearly everything about the jet. It is still very impressive though and a legendary jet

As far as Russian aircraft the only thing equal to the F-16 is the SU-35. The su35 has a much longer radar but F-16s new Aim120 missles give it an advantage even against the newest of Russian fighters

the MiG has a 30mm cannon which is radar guided and only fires when the projectiles have a high probability of hitting the target. I repaired MiG29 for 10 years and the gun was very feared. The r73 missle is very effective, all the rest is standard 70's/80's and pretty much junk.

The comparison between the number of rounds of both airplane canon is quite stupid. F16 uses a canon that rely on shooting smaller round with a huge fire rate. A gatling gun. And a bit more hits on the target are needed for an airplane to crash. Russian aircraft use a canon that use way bigger rounds, but less fire rate, but the round are bigger so that only one is enough to do massive damage on an air plane. I have no clue what is the best, but it's just two different philosophy.

The Mig has longer range radar missles but the F-16 would win, the mig is more maneuverable at slow speeds but the F-16 retains energy better in real life dog fighting circles so the F-16 would win hands down. As a guy, whose uncle is a pilot of bulgarian Mig-29... I believe the mig is superior at it's role than the F16, simply because it is made to hold a place, and provide air corver to any planes THAT WOULD GO NEARBY. it was also designed to be on budget, and the F16... is a lot more... pickier. Give Mig-29 any jet fuel, it will fly. Give F16 anything but designed fuel and you will end of as a thumbling wreck on the airfield

MiG-29 can actually carry more payload than the F-16 (there's the ability to add fuselage hardpoints to the MiG-29 allowing it to have 11 hardpoints at most if memory serves me correctly)

All this comes down to the pilot!! WW2, Korean War ,and Vietnam was determined by our pilots. Not all our planes were superior, so the pilots studied the strong and weak of their plane. They also learned their enemies weak and strong points. Pilots win the air.

With advancement of radar n missile tech planes don’t play a huge role in peer to peer weapons but are still useful for over seas power projection and defending boarders aka looking super cool n stuff

If the US/NATO go to war with Russia, it won't be SU-29s that they will face, but SU-34s, SU-35s and the SU-57s which have been updated with the latest in radar technology, weapons system with long range guided missiles and more powerful engines! They don't even have to leave Russian airspace to track ground or air targets and launch their missiles in NATO nations! Never underestimate your enemy, just as you may be improving aircrafts, you shouldn't think that they aren't doing the same! If they face the Russians, it won't be anything like Syria, Afghanistan or Iraq, but a nation that's just as powerful as the US! In the end, no one knows what the outcome will be because just as a few guys mentioned here, it depends on the pilot!
