Don't bother with the super long words, they are usually just examples of what is theoretically possible in the Finnish language (a lot is, that's why it is such a great language!) with no real life value at all. Järjestelmällistyttämättömyydellänsäkäänköhän is an example of adding a ton of suffixes, and even a native speaker needs to really think through it: Järjestelmä = system Järjestelmällinen = systematic Järjestelmällistää = make something systematic Järjestelmällistyttää = make someone make something systematic Järjestelmällistyttämättömyys = the lack of having made someone make something systematic Järjestelmällistyttämättömyytensä = his/her lack of having made someone make something systematic Järjestelmällistyttämättömyydelläänsä = with his/her lack of having made someone make something systematic Järjestelmällistyttämättömyydelläänsäkäänköhän = (I) wonder if even with his/her lack of having made someone make something systematic It is more common to see this word preceded by epä (epäjärjestelmällistyttämättömyydelläänsäkäänköhän), I'll let you figure that one out =) The only real sentences it gets used in is "The longest Finnish word is..." The ydinreaktorigeneraattorilauhduttajaturbiiniratasvaihde is an example of a very long compound word, but not a very good one. The English translation is quite a bit off (a more literal translation would be nuclear reactor generator steam condenser turbine cog gear), and it's basically just a list of components of a nuclear power plant crammed into a single word. Definitely don't memorize this one, even if you get a job at Finland's new, fifth nuclear power plant (if they ever finish it), you won't find such a part there. A better and more well known example is lentokonesuihkuturbiinimoottoriapumekaanikkoaliupseerioppilas, which is (in theory, of course) a rank you could hold in the air force. Your pronounciation on both words was very good!

@@AlenaTalks Yes well, even järjestelmä is derived from järki. Epäjärjestelmällistyttämätömyydellänsäkäänköhän? for real use tends to occur as a comment whenever someone complains about Finnish language or grammar or the word itself being difficult. Note that -nsä can also be translated as its or their.

There are different mosquito species in different parts of Finland, some more annoying and in bigger quantities than others. It was a surprise for me to see mosquitoes in a city area in Spb inside a flat. Maybe this has something to do with the city being built on top of a swamp? They are not so common in central city areas in Finland, though some cities like Joensuu are an exception. I'm not sure what influences that, because most inland cities do have lakes (potential growth places) near the center, but the mosquitoes are not a problem in all city centers.

Yeah, I guess our swamps may be the reason😩

Don't know if it's just my small circle of friends, but I've encountered many more making jokes of the entire year than just summer time. Good example would be "Finland's four seasons: Four months of beautiful summer, Six months of November slush, a week of winter and bit under two months of late spring slush" Might be because we've had a long stretch of decent to great summers, but aside from 2020-2021 winter, many of the winters in the 2000's have been far too warm and with little to no snow. Really glad the YT algorithm decided to randomly pop this up to my recommended videos. You seem like a nice person, will be checking out more of your content! Oh, and you nailed those weird overly long examples of Finnish suffixiaitis. Well done!

No niin is actually 2 words (Literally: Well so). It's just that Ismo Leikola called it 'one word'. Well, it's often said as if it was one word. It's so multifunctional, becaise it's like a shortened sentence, the so points to something the context opens. - Like so does in English. The No 'Well' is there more like to express casual situation, pondering mood. And it's needed because Niin has specialized in another code meaning in a discussion: 'Yes (I agree, you may go on). You often hear it repeatedly, when a Finnish man speaks on the phone with his wife... Maybe the only word he says (x n). If Finns say joo or kyllä on the phone, they mean yes (and might want to get the turn to speak). If they want to tell they want to get the turn, the Joo comes many times faster and faster, and pitch is rising too ... so the other guy should understand to turn to a listener.
