Came here because I have familiarity with Finnish vocabulary and listening to Russian speaking on a video my ears just every now and then hear something similar, aside from latinate and greco words common to my English tongue. Thank you this is very interesting. Assume the words went from Russia to Finland via trade since many were about objects that would be traded or wanted by more well-connected (aristocratic) Russian descended members of Finnish community from their motherland. Just as all the words for bedding seem to come from Swedish/Nordic into Finnish

In 1293 the governor of Sweden Torgils Knutsson with the blessing of the Pope undertook the third crusade to Southern Karelia. This campaign began with foundation of the fortress of Vyborg. The castle on rocky island consisted of the powerful tetrahedral tower surrounded with high wall. In 1294 and 1322 there were unsuccessful attacks of the Novgorod forces. In 1323 the treaty between Sweden and Novgorod Republic was signed and first division of Karelian's land was made. In according to that treaty the border on the Sestra river was established. By the way, the word "Ruotsi" (Sweden) means "land of Russ" or "Rus's land" in according to some researches. Medieval Vyborg Medieval Vyborg In 1470-75 city fortifications with ten towers was built. Vyborg castle became one of the most powerful fortresses in Ruotsi. In 1495 was the end of Tatar yoke over Russia. Moscow tzar Ivan III seized city Novgorod. The commandant of Vyborg Knut Posse mustered a home guard - all about 1900 persons. September, 21 - the city was besieged by Russian armies (near 10000, many guns and 120 vessels). Fierce attacks lasted for the three weeks. Famine began in the city in November. New big storm was on November,30. Russians seized one of the towers. Defenders brought to the tower barrels with powder and blew it up. It was named "the Vyborg Thunder" later. The storm was a failure. December, 4 - siege was taken off.

You made me find out about Silent Hill. I learned about games but also about a movie. You made the association of creepiness to such weather. Many people do. The feelings I get are very different. For me walking alone in darkness but also in misty weather is comforting meditation like experience. It's the wet icy slippery weather I don't like it even though walking in such conditions is definitely nothing new to me.

I would definitely recommend the following Russian series for teenagers: Выжить после, Чернобыль - зона отчуждения, Mir! Druzhba! Zhvachka!, ЖУКИ, Sparta, Kitchenblock, maybe Fizruk. These are the Russian series that teenagers seem to be interested in that I can see from my statistics. I have a good selection of these and other Finnish and Russian series on my channel. Just the trailers, but the idea is to get people interested enough in something, then they go and watch the whole series, right? Maybe you could suggest they choose their own television series? For Finnish, I would recommend the following for teenagers: Sininen enkeli, Lovi, Outo kesä, Kimmo, Huijarisyndrooma (only 1 minute episodes, so very great for short attention span), Aikuset, Luuserit, Uusi Päivä, Kuuma Peruna, Sohvaperunat. 🙂

It's probably because the parents want their children to learn languages more than the teenagers themselves. Teenagers just don't want to be there. I think maybe they will be more interested in languages later in life? We can only hope. I sympathise. No profession is easy. Every profession has it's down sides and negatives.

Partioaitta is perhaps a shop you already know. They sell gear for outdoor activities. The following is their advice on how to prepare for winter swimming: "Talviuinti ei vaadi suuria hankintoja.

Culture is something that a group people attach to their collective behavior? Something which somehow differentiate them from others. We should remember that also individuals can be different and similarly deserve to be tolerated by others, if being different isn't harmful to others. We could extend the concept of culture to individuals in this context and not ignore individuals. Workplaces have or develop some common corporate culture (internal behavioral norms). They also have competition but also cooperation between groups and individuals. People with different qualities can be especially effective group handling more complex challenges. But it can also be a source of tension, if differences are creating conflicts. A more homogeneous group can sometimes be better in some tasks where speed and minimal friction between individuals is beneficial. It is difficult management challenge to estimate which is better in different situations and also the details of different "cultures" makes mixing them very different challenges in some situations. As an example: Ukrainians and Russians working in Finland same workgroups. They might even share language and much culture being a good match working together or experience each other as being on the opposite sides of a major conflict, which can be too much for them however good intentions people have in trying to cooperate. Sometimes external situations make situations different and difficult even though individuals would start with good intentions. Corporate culture can help there being the common culture for all and giving guidelines of how to cooperate and behave.

Perhaps so in some workplaces or more generally. That reminds me of an old stereotypical statement about men and women: Women want to talk about problems and feel better after having talked about them. Men have more need to do something to the problem, to solve it, and become more irritated by just having to talk about problems without achieving solutions. In my experience, there can be some truth in that. Without talking potential conflicts or problems can't become recognized and handled - talking is very much needed. But endless talking and dwelling in a difficult situation without solution doesn't help.

I would say that a tosikko can have so vivid, deep understanding and knowledge, which can make him or her interesting and not boring even though he or she takes things seriously, even too seriously, and don't make an effort to be funny. And then there are also Buster Keaton type comedians, who use seriousness as a style to create funny circumstances. It is a kind of tosikko, isn't it.

I think a tosikko really cannot understand humour. They just can't.
