Hi, I'm from Moscow 😘 It was a great surprise to see pineapple in Russian salad 😲 If you want to taste our favourite salad, you should cook whole skinned potatoes and carrot, only then peel and chop them, add boiled eggs, canned peas, pickled cucumber and of course meat: cooked beef or turkey, some people prefer boiled sausage. Sauce is Russian mayonese - it is very different from European, more salty and spicy, like Japanese mayonese. All health 🙏

If they don't like pineapple in this Russian salad, simply they don't have to add in their salad. People that read this comment, (Veggies are boiled so it will be softer to bite). I had this salad from time to time when I was little. There were many Russian restaurants in Shanghai back then and even Shanghainese food incorporated some of the Russian dishes. And this salad is one of those dishes that were popular among shanghainese all the time.

We make this salad in Turkey as well. Although there are a few differences such as we don't add pineapple and put yogghurt, which is savory, in the salad. A really enjoyable meal! :)

Never cook chopped veggies, but cook them with skins, then take out and peal cut. Otherwise all the nutrition is going to be gone . I'm Russian we never put pineapple and beans in it. And it's swimming in Mayo no no no. It's not Russian salad it's your own imagination salad.

This is similar to my grandmother’s Russian salad except that she used beets instead of pineapple. She also marinated her vegetables in a little bit of a vinaigrette, drained them when it was time to serve, and bound the whole thing with a little bit of mayonnaise. I’m very curious to try the pineapple substitution now!

In my country we boil chicken and when its almost ready we add whole carrot, celery root and potatoes and we boil them all together, we then cut them into small small pieces and we add to the salad pickled cucumbers also cut into pieces. We also use homemade mayonnaise

if I am not wrong this is a very famous “russian” salad in Indian hotels,yes this is not the authentic Russian salad but I believe this was an adapted recipe for the Indian taste and Indian clientele aa many of then are vegetarians. i had tasted this one years ago in a 5 star hotel in India, trust me this was one of the best things i loved that day 😅😅, I am not sure if they had mayonnaise or hung curd (like thick greek yogurt minus the whey) in it.
