Thanks a bunch! Greatly appreciated! So far so good, but then that's what the guy said that fell off the top of a 30 story building. Every floor he passed he shouted, "so far so good", 😁 Let's hope our luck holds out! Have a great weekend! Johnny

Hi Raymond, I can't claim the clothes pin idea as my own, like everyone else I try to steal from the best!! Thanks so much for tuning in, take care and model on!! Johnny

Hi Johnny, educational as usual. Would never have thought of the annealing process for my PE, I have always made the excuse of it being "battle damaged" once I've mucked it up😂. Thank you, stay safe and see you next week 👍
@hillbillymodeling5 ай бұрын
Hi Ian, yeah, annealing will help that PE bend by making it softer, or, help with that battle damage 🤣. Thanks for watching, take care and model on. Johnny

Excellent job done Johnny, those missiles look like a pain to get them looking right. Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend!

Hi George, the missiles were a little tedious to do, but we got it. Thanks so much for watching my friend, take care and model on! Johnny

Great work this week Johnny, the missiles look very good with those perfectly bonded fins. looking forward to next week.
@hillbillymodeling5 ай бұрын
Hi Gerry, those fins were attached to the sprue at the alignment spline, a little fiddly to clean up, but other than that they went together well. Thanks for watching, have a great weekend! Johnny

Great work, Johnny! For me, I found, the easiest way to sand round objects (like tank gun barrels) is to put a piece of sanding sponge in the palm of one hand, lightly squeeze the part and then turn it for a while in my palm - always gets it evenly sanded and rounded.
@hillbillymodeling5 ай бұрын
Very true Mike, and that probably would have worked just fin in this case too. My concern was that we do have those 4 bulges that run down about 3/5 ths of the missile body and I didn't want to create a shoulder on the missile body where they begin, if so, that would have to be blended with sanding. At least that's my train of thought. Thanks so much for watching buddy! Johnny
@MikeUSA675 ай бұрын
@@hillbillymodeling Yes, you are right - I did not notice there were bulges. My method would have sanded them flat!

Thanks so much Steve, I was worried about those missiles a little, but the accuracy was there, and they went together with little fuss. Thanks for watching, take care my friend!! Johnny

Good morning Johnny, the buildbis coming along great, I am not a big fan of PE, but if it is in the kit then so be it, the missle went together very nicely, hope all is good with you, happy modelling, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
@hillbillymodeling5 ай бұрын
Thanks Les👍I used to dread PE, but we are seeing more and more that manufactures are adding it to the kits. Probably so they can hike up the price more. 🫨Usually there are plastic parts that are replicated in PE but not in this kit, they don't include the plastic part for PE, so we have to use it. Take care and model on my friend! Johnny

Ugh! PE is the bane of my existence! You make it look so easy, sir! 🤠 That Perfect Plastic Putty from Amazon?
@hillbillymodeling5 ай бұрын
I used to get so nervous with PE that just thinking about it made my hands shake, 🥺. Especially when it came time to glue it to the model! Now I don't think too much about it, it's like Nike, just do it! LOL. Thanks for watching buddy! Johnny

Hi Johnny. Great build this week. I really need this plastic putty. What I'm using is not as easy to deal with. I will try to find out where to purchase it. The PE setting is so easy with you. I'm not afraid anymore of gluing PE. By the way the missiles are so beautiful and realistic. Thanks again for sharing this very enjoyable video and stay safe. Have a good weekend Johnny. Regards 🇫🇷. François 🐕🦺🐾

Hi François, I got my Perfect Plastic Putty from Amazon and I love this stuff! As for PE, it's here to stay, this kit uses it as the part not just a replacement. So, we have to use it. Thanks so much for watching, take care and model on. Johnny

You may want to try the Vallejo putty - same stuff, but it comes with a fine applicator nozzle. Very easy to use!!!

I see what looks like a Hasegawa 1/32 scale F6F on the back shelf. Have you built that kit? I've had one in the closet I bought over 30 years ago before taking a long break from modeling and when I took a look at it after getting serious about the hobby again was surprised that the decals had yellowed even though still in the shrink wrap. Same with a bunch of other model kits with US insignia. sigh.
@hillbillymodeling5 ай бұрын
Hey Timothy, that's a Hobby Boss F6F-5 in 1/48. I plan to build it in the near future, I hope, lol. Sorry to hear about your decals in you Hasegawa kit, they do tend to yellow with time. I'm sure there are aftermarket decals you can get to replace them with. Most popular kits have these options if you want to replace them, it just takes some looking to find them. Thanks so much for watching, take care and model on! Johnny

@@hillbillymodeling If you put yellowed decals under direct sunlight for at least 24 hours, the yellowing tends to disappear! Just tape it to a glass window from the inside, decals facing outward, and leave it there for a day (maybe more depending on the grade of yellowing). But be sure to curve the decal sheet slightly (horizontally) to avoid any moisture of being trapped between the sheet and the window pane!
