Hi Johnny, fantastic as usual. It's never too long a video when you're educating us all. I have every faith in your abilities to sort those hoses out 👍, thanks again, see you next week and stay safe 😊

Thanks Ian, we'll get it all sorted out, lol. It's coming along pretty well i think, not a bad kit and definitely a unique subject. Thanks for watching buddy, hope to see you again next Friday. Johnny

Hello Johnny. Another great video. The kit with its missiles ready to fire is very impressive. Beautiful build and always common sense and accuracy. Thanks for sharing my friend and waiting the incoming video next Friday. Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend. Best regards from 🇫🇷

This model is turning into a much larger vehicle than I initially expected, the missiles add quite a lot! Thanks so much for following along with the build, take care and model on. Johnny

I’m a bit late to the party but glad I made it..This is part of this kit I’m interested in as it looks the most complicated of this model,looking at this instructions..Great video that explains all so well..Thank you Jonny and all the best🇬🇧🇺🇸👍

Looks great, Johnny! I remember those launch rails being very fussy! I've got the SA-6's younger brother, the Meng Buk kit in my stash. One day I hope to actually get to it!

Hi Johnny, another great weeks work on your part. This seems to have been quite a tedious build requiring a lot of attention to detail on your part. Your ability to get the best out of it has to be admired along with the level of patience that you bring to what you do. I very much admire your high tech plastic melting tool, it's a very nice piece and not something that I would have thought of, I've always used the heated screwdriver head. As for the tube/spring arrangement on this kit I can only suggest that you shorten the plastic tube piece, I have no idea how strong the spring is but I would rather not cut into it for fear of causing very obvious distortion. I'm looking forward to whatever solution that you bring forward and to the paint job starting next week.

Hey Gerry, necessity is the mother of invention, right? I try to think outside the box from time to time, lol. I think your right about just trimming the tubing off, the spring isn't an issue, so I think the best approach is to trim the tubing according to the position we want the missiles in, for me I think the launch position. Thanks so much for watching my friend, take car and model on! Hope to see you next Friday! Johnny

After you visited my site, and left a very nice comment I might add, I posted a reply to you. I subscribed to your channel and I can see that you post videos in stages of assembly. I may go back to doing that. Your work is awesome and I will be viewing more of your videos. Thanks for posting a comment on my channel, I might not ever have found yours on my own. Once again, awesome work!

You're welcome, you do wonderful work Monte, it's always a struggle for me to try to pull in more views. I know I never get to that magic 20-minute rule, but it's a target. I think my viewers like to get to a stage that if they are building along, they have a sense of accomplishment in the process. I have a friend on KZbin that also does stages, but he doesn't edit his vids and ends up with hour long vids that only gets the viewer through 2-3 steps and posts a vid almost every day. I think that's a lot to ask of an audience, they get bored easily. I also try to show technics and methods that helps the modeler with their builds every chance I get, that keeps the interest up for them. Being consistent also has really helped me, those that view my channel regularly have commented that they look forward to Fridays because they know there will be a video for them to watch, sort of like your favorite weekly TV show, but without reruns! 😁 Thanks for your sub, I greatly appreciate it buddy! Take care and model on!! Johnny

@@hillbillymodeling Sound advice and it all makes perfect sense. One of my best videos was by request and it was a "How To" video on painting wooden decks. I was surprised how many views it got. Great to meet you and to discover your channel. I'll be lurking around, that's for certain. Best wishes!

Monogram of long ago would have had a little picture balloon showing a hot knife melting method for those pins in the erector assembly lol seems like Trumpeter wanted to telepathically send you in that direction like those little picture balloons are beneath them or you must be intuitive enough to be a trumpeter modeler! I do love your homemade tools Johnny great idea a finishing brad would have a dimple in the head perfect for making a rivet so you could have different sizes !! Thanks for sharing your ideas!!
@hillbillymodeling5 ай бұрын
Funny thing about our homemade tools, we might only use them once or twice but it sure is good to have them, lol. Your right about Monogram using those picture balloons Eric, sometimes Trumpeter doesn't do that good of a job letting us know what we need to do. I personally enjoy figuring things out, but I can see where it could be annoying to others, lol. Thanks for giving it a look my friend, take care and model on. Hope to see you next Friday. Johnny

@hillbillymodeling for sure Johnny it's like a routine I look forward to ever since you did the UH-1 and helped me to figure out how to make Capt. Kilgore's "Death from above" Uh-1c I believe it is I have the model the baking pans to cut out troop seats and im just waiting on the Decals and the 1860's calvary hat coming from Down under!! Thanks for sharing great ideas the Brad nail in a dowel handle might make a good 1/32 and up rivet tool for a few rivets in a row !! On early models or even hex bolts if you can chop 6 sides of the rivet off enough to look like a bolt head lotsa work either way in detail painting or dealing rivet strips or making them by hand but either way is modeling - 3d printing is sorta cheating unless the model co. Got it entirely wrong and you need an admirals bridge or modifying and engine scoop on a particular dragster then i think you are warranted 😊 it is really just how far do YOU wanna take it !! Cant wait to see your paint scheme for the SAM's !! And what country you'll represent for the launcher vehicle !!

I have to say, when I first saw your unboxing video, I never thought this kit to be THAT taxing. I thought it to be an easy build, a quick little mojo blaster, or something. Boy, was I wrong! This turned out to be a real undertaking. Can't wait to see it painted. Just to throw in my 2 cents concerning the spring problem, for what it's worth - my guess is that the stiffness of the tubing is causing the issue. If I were you, I would shorten the tubing first before shortening the spring. Maybe that will remedy the problem?
@hillbillymodeling5 ай бұрын
I have come to the same conclusion Mike, the tubes length is ok for a stowed position but doesn't compress well enough for the erect position, (another chuckle is in order I think). I like the launch position so for me I think shortening the tubes is in order. I'm lucky to have someone like you watching the channel Mike, nothing gets past you buddy, I love it!! Keeps me honest 😉, well, mostly honest!! Johnny

I've basically been building this kit at the same time as you. I have to say the hoses that go from the missiles to the launch platform were really a pain for me, to the point I almost just decided not to do them. I eventually got them all on with the help of a bit of glue but it's not pretty... good luck with yours. I'm curious what you're going to go with paint-wise. I ended up painting the launcher vehicle itself Zashchitniy Zeleno since I'm going for a Soviet version. I painted the missiles medium green. there's quite a contrast between the darker green of the missiles and the launcher. It looks appropriate but I'm not sure I like it personally.
@hillbillymodeling5 ай бұрын
Color can be a tricky thing, lots to consider there. Since I plan on some pre-shading it's important to get the right shade of green for the effect, but I agree that the missiles will look best if they are a bit darker than the vehicle. Thats considering that the vehicle should be more weathered than those "precious" missiles! We'll see. Thanks for watching, good luck with your build!! Johnny
