What foods do Russians eat for breakfast? Many think that Russians simply have vodka for breakfast! Does Russian food differ to your food? Could you eat Russian food? Today we will taste test some Russian breakfasts and ask Russians on the street which food they ate today for breakfast.

Damn that breakfast is looking amazing, got my mouth watering lol. Regarding the street interviews, it's understandable that some people will be refusing to answer. They see a foreigner, I am assuming they get it by your accent, asking random questions, and knowing how the western propaganda is deceiving about their country, well you know what I mean, it's even a surprise some of them answer you at all. Thanks for sharing, Sam. Have a good one!

Wow! This is not just a breakfast! It is a complete meal. I am convinced that if I had it in the mornings, I wouldn't have lunch anymore! Anyway Russian breakfast looks really nice and there is a great choice! Love cottage cheese!! In Italy we have the usual coffe, or milk and coffee (capuccino) with a croissant or a toasted bread with jam on it; an orange juice and a yougurt are a must. Cereals are also very common. Great video Sam, really nice indeed. Thank you very much for sharing

What a great idea of trying the different types of breakfasts. Perhaps that alone could be a series based around a single breakfast each time you record, then perhaps a single evening meal or whatever the main meal is for a Russian person.

@@SamsRussianAdventures what I meant was to not have four breakfasts in one day as that's getting into Man Vs Food territory but to select one breakfast or daily set of meals and elaborate on them, then in another video some time in the future, pick another single set of breakfast and evening meal and elaborate on that. It spreads the videos out. It becomes a series. BOOM! How about you chatting with the wonderful staff at that restaurant, select a single dish and after having eaten it, get the person who prepares it, to show you how it's made. We all get to see and learn the ingredients. It's a standard cookery show. Well, actually that's the same format as Man Vs Food also apart from the over-eating and it becomes a series over time.

I mix a cup of warm milk and a cup of oatmeal and let it sook for 15 to 20 minutes. I then put 4 eggs, cheese, fresh dill, green onions, some olive oil, salt, pepper, and mix it up, and cook in a pan until brown and then flip it and cook the other side. I do not know what it is called but it is delicious.

Those breakfasts looked very tasty. The eggs and tomato combination looked like shakshuka. The porridge was different than I thought. We eat (corn-hominy) grits here in the South but with butter, salt, and pepper. Some people add milk and sugar to them. I mix mine w eggs and Tabasco sauce. However, served the Russian way with Muesli and berries looked divine. The syrniki and draniki or latkes looked great, as well. All healthy, sensible, and filling. As for the guy who gave you a hard time, every country has them. It's human nature. They are just being protective. He still took time to speak to you for a half-hour. That says a lot. Great video. No.4 - potato pancakes with poached egg and salmon and salad 2. No.3 - fried eggs with tomatoes and sourdough bread (I'd add some cheese though) 3. No.1 - corn porridge (sort of a sweet corn grits) with blueberries and honey/caramel 4. No.2 - syrniki - cottage cheese pancakes /fried patties with sour cream (or jam or strawberry sauce on the side)

The reason you got so many "nets" is because you were standing there with a camera and not defining the question. You would have had more responses if you said something like "Can I ask you a question about breakfast". You know how shy Russians are of cameras and in general. When I was growing up my Russian grandparents used to do fruit such as berries, cottage cheese, sometimes bagels and waffles interestingly enough. They did pancakes (blintzes) on rare occasion, but not for breakfast, those were part of dinner. (Totally different from American pancakes).

@@SamsRussianAdventures Oh, Russians are friendlier than that, you know. Of course, if they are in a hurry or on the way to work or something, that is different. Yes, we have berries and cottage cheese in stores here in the states, but groceries are far more expensive here than in Russia even accounting for Russian wages and so-called sanctions. The sanctions are actually on the US much more then on Russia. One can find a more affordable brand of cottage cheese, but berries are very high priced, about 3 times what they are in Russia or more. All produce in the US is far higher priced than Russia. Oddly enough it is the same in Armenia according to my dearest friend and the receipts she showed! Grocery cost is not as bad as the US, but still high. What is alarming is that rents are the same as in the US! She and I pay the same amount for not so good quality dwellings! That shock took me a couple of days to recover from. She said it is because of many Russians moving to Armenia. She says the Armenian people are very kind to Russians, but landlords and such are taking advantage of the situation. I'm told Russians prefer other cuisines over their own much of the time. Of course they love McDonalds (or now the equivalent thereof), which is funny because I can't stand McDonalds in the states, but likely because the quality is less here than in Russia. McDonalds is also far less expensive in Russia. In Russia the equivalent of a Big Mac meal is around $8 (still a tidy sum to Russians considering wages). However that same exact meal in the states is over $16 now! I'm not a huge fan of Russian cuisine myself. Some of it is good mind you, but it is just too rich for me taste wise. I haven't had all of it, but have had a few dishes. Russians love pizza too and Shawarma and Italian food and Bar-B-que! I don't know how they feel about tacos and such. I'd like to see some Russians trying tacos and see what they think. My best friend is like a wife, she is always trying to make sure I eat right and everything. A lot of guys would call it nagging, but it isn't because there is a ton of love in it, you can feel it easily. I have tons of respect for Russian women and a lot of guys in Russia are cool as well. Such a sincere people! The accent is the cutest in the world by the way.

@@ericelliott227 hi mate, thanks for your comment. I think on the whole, Russians tend to eat healthier than Americans. Of course they love fast food too but generally they eat healthily. I prefer spicy food rather than Russian food and my Russian friends can’t handle even a small amount of spices. With regards to housing prices, I guess that’s what happens when demand outweighs supply. There is one place here that sells tacos and they are quite popular but because we don’t have any Mexican influence here, people don’t really know about them.

Wow, that was interesting. Russians certainly have wider option for breakfast. I never heard of salads, chicken, sandwiches, pates, or seafood for breakfast but why not? it is the most important meal of the day they say. In Canada we have eggs for supper, so why not salmon for breakfast? My I make a suggestion... instead of asking "can I ask you a question", why not just ask the question. You may have done better this time by by saying "Excuse me but can I ask you what you had for breakfast?". Or "Excuse me, I am doing a small study. Can I ask you what you had for breakfast?". You may find them answering before they even think about whether they should answer or not.
