💥For understanding: in Russia, more than 80% of families own housing. Moreover, almost half of them purchased apartments and houses on their own, 48.4% inherited housing (in Soviet times housing was provided free of charge, but there was a queue for a good apartment for several years), 8.3% have their own housing in a mortgage.

@@lornewazny7152 no, it’s true that the majority of people own their apartments, and it’s also true that some of them were given to citizens during Soviet Union times. For example, I own 2 apartments, my uncle owns 1 where he lives in and 2 which are for rent, etc. (not all of them are from Soviet times, only 1).But these days a part of people, especially young have to take a mortgage to live independently from their relatives. But it’s also better than in the west, in my opinion, a lot of people pay this money earlier.

please compare a new three bedroom two bath private home with all the latest appliances and home goods that come with a new home plus all private homes in my country have a front and back yard - can that be said for these high-rise apartments that have three bedroom two baths apartment and not much living space - the cost difference will be enormous if private houses are available - one certainly has to notice all the high rise buildings in the Russian Federation and ask the question why? Is this a hangover from the days of communism?

@rhh3582
@rhh3582 Жыл бұрын
@@sakurazukamorisubaru the meaning of private houses is very simple to understand by most people - it simply means a private person/family own their dwelling they live in - it is not a cabin, it is not an apartment, it is not a loft - it is what I said it is - a dwelling of any size (big, small, medium sized or for the very well off people living in a very large building which is referred to as a luxury home but it is still owned and paid for by an individual, a couple, a family) live in which is not attached to another building - it is a stand alone house/home - if this doesn't explain what privately owned means you are lost in the woods. Privately owned homes/house are in every country on this planet. Apartments/block houses are building of many stories in height with contain units in which a person, a couple, a family can live and they either buy the unit or rent on a monthly basis the unit - the apartment/block house (this is an English term for high-rise buildings/apartments) can be any number of stories high depending on housing codes for each and every country - some are as high as 70 levels (most are probably in the 20/30 floor level but it is not uncommon to see units up to and higher than 100 stories stories with multiple housing units on each floor or a housing unit can occupy an entire floor it depends on housing codes and the amount of money a person has to either buy or pay monthly rent. The country by the way is my birth country.

Very nice flat. Big rooms, a lot of storage. Nice views. Multiple bathrooms and even multiple balconies... Lovely! Something like this in London will cost an arm and a leg. Both balconies look amazing! Like additional living rooms. You should see what London balconies look like. Some of them don't even have enough space for a single chair. The flat is really nice overall, and the price seems reasonable, given this is within "greater Moscow" location. Anything like that in "greater London" would cost you more than £500,000. And it will be in not such nice condition, your balconies will be really awful, or no balconies. There will be no storage in hallways and no luxuries such as floor heating. I checked google maps, this town also appears to be within "great circular road" of Moscow, which is something like M25 in London. Anything within M25 is considered desirable and expensive. I imagine it is very similar in Moscow. So, location is very good.

But Moscow also has lower maintance fees electricity and ware bills etc, bigger pensions, better healthcare, better schools and universiities, more jobs, bigger salaries, more affordable kindergardens, better and faster public transportation and so on. So in the long run if people are going to live there for a long time it better to invest in Moscow, you get more comfortable life, spend less time to commute, more time to live the life and not to spend time transport

@@dmitriys5247 Yes, you are correct. I lived in London during 30 years and I can say confidently that Moscow is a much nicer place to live compared to London. Public transport in London is awful. Underground very expensive, dirty, falling apart. Trains are horrific extremely crowded. Healthcare is falling apart. Schools and places for kids to play are very poor. And everything is very expensive. There are almost no areas of life why London would actually be better. Maybe with one exception that it is warmer here during winter. But I've met many people from Russia in London who say they feel really cold in London during winter. Because the climate is very humid and houses have very bad heating arrangements and thin walls.

You know, Russell, I think that the near Moscow region is a very good choice of place to live. My dad lived in the Moscow suburbs, and I often visited him. The level of service necessary for a comfortable life is no worse than in Moscow, but on the other hand, peace and quiet, instead of a noisy, assertive overwhelming pace. By train to the ring of stations, almost the center of Moscow - 40-50 minutes ... so what? Back in Vladivostok, I spend about the same time to get to work, and, accordingly, back. Sometimes even longer due to traffic jams. (according to official statistics, we have 471 cars per 1,000 people). At least in this we are leading in Russia!😁

I know that it's not worth arguing about matters of taste, but I think such an interior solution is not only impractical, but also quite dreary. The children's room, which should probably function as a living room, is like a box, which is connected to the other rooms by a dark, narrow corridor. Even the landscape on the balcony is flat and therefore rather dreary. Two toilets, wooden floors and underfloor heating are of course a plus, but I personally wouldn't want to live in such an apartment even for a moment...

@@dmitriys5247 I live in Canada and everyone complains about their washers and driers, and almost anything is terrible compared to years before. My grandparents used a fridge from the 20s at their cottage/dacha. It never broke down. My grandparents had 2 fridges in their home. One was from the 1950s and another was from 1962. They sold their house with one of them in it in 2006. New stuff, from garbage cans in your kitchen to the tinfoil to all the appliances, especially washers and driers seems to be intentionally built to break or fail with 7 years. Parts that move are often plastic when they used to be metal.

That's a very good price. I live in Ontario, Canada and an apartment like that here would be $453,000 at the lowest, probably a lot more. We also have a Maintenance fee to pay for the upkeep and taxes of the building that runs anywhere from $300 a month up to $700 a month and sometimes in luxury buildings it's over $1000 a month. Is there a maintenance fee in Russia? In the U.S. they call it a HOA (Home Owners Assn fee).

There is a fee for communal services. Simply put, you pay about $ 100 per month for a personal apartment, including hot water, heating, etc. And this is in Moscow, the further away from Moscow the cheaper it is 2-3-5 times. Taxes in Russia are very small, so most in Moscow, especially apart from apartments, there are also private houses outside the cities (Dacha (Country house, usually about 10-15 acres)). The salary tax is 13%, taking into account the fact that medicine is completely free. In Russia, it is not customary to pay for insurance yourself, I do not know such people who would arrange it themselves. There are two options, either the state or the employer pays for you.

Of course, there is a monthly payment for tariffs and housing and communal services. Water and electricity meters will show the consumption. According to the current rates for a stay of 3 people, the payment including all expenses will be approximately $ 90-100 in this apartment

Wow. I guessed it was around 150,000.00 USD and that was the price. It’s all you need and it’s the same size as my old apartment in LA. Now my house is too big since my kids are grown and they no longer live with me. It was a pretty impressive looking area and I didn’t know the suburbs of Moscow were so nice. I’ve thought about moving to France when I retire in a few years, because I like the country and would like to have an overseas living experience, although obviously there are many great places to live in Europe. Thanks for the video and giving us some idea of how people live in Russia.

OMG I think the apartment is lovely. I live in an apartment complex in Melbourne, Australia. No elevator I need to walk up 6 flights of stairs. Like the apartment you have shown the laundry, shower and toilet are in the one bathroom, not 2 Like what you have shown. Plus no dryer or clothes lines. I use an old fashioned clothes horse. My kitchen is too small to fit a table and chairs. My apartment complex was built in 1960, but has been renovated. One balcony overlooking the beach which is lovely in summer. Would love the heated floor and central heating in winter. Which is now. I'm sitting in my chair with a warm blanket over me! Electricity is super expensive now so I try not to use heating. And it's freezing cold. $230,000 aud is a steal. Here in Melbourne it would be half a million easy. Is Electricity expensive in Russia? I bet it's pretty cheap

So long as there are no Magpies in that park, I know Im not in Australia. If I were to move to Russia, I reckon, I can live comfortably in that apartment. But, living at my house in suburbia Logan City, south of Brisbane, Im kinda used to mowning my lawns and pruning my roses, the bottlebrush and frangipani trees. Kinda used to Kookuburra's, the budgies, and Cockatoos, although, the Magpies are annoying around November till January each year. But, yeah, kinda used to Australian blazing sun and the beaches. But, if I would consider living there, then yeah, would consider it.
