The past couple of weeks, I rolled through a stop sign while an Arlington Heights police car was stopped on the other side of the street. On another ocassion, I rode through a red light at Northwest Hwy and Ridge railroad crossing while the police car was stopped on the other side of the tracks. I don't think they really care as long as you look which I did on both ocassions. I think you get too much grief for rolling through stop signs.

I like that crossing light. It has a steady beat that keeps you calm while "waiting" and then it starts beeping like crazy to wake you up from your waiting so you know it is time to go. Mine do nothing, I have to actually pay attention. I'm jealeous.

We live in rural Missouri. Where we ride, there are very few if any people around. Thus, no need for us to signal. Peaceful riding at all times, up, down & all around.

Too many trail walkers wear earbuds and can't hear you whether you ring your bell or not. I prefer turn signals on bike as you need both hands to control the bike.

I am happy more manufacturer is starting to incorporate turn signals into the bike but it would be nice if they put some upfront too

Stop signs? Always when necessary. In the subdivision? Sometimes. In fact, I recently blew through a stop sign in my sub right by a unmarked police SUV without being stopped. Signals? Always when crossing traffic using traditional arm signals. I usually let the cars go first. Better safe than sorry.

Russ, I've been listening and following your rides for over a year and a half. I'd been considering cycling since my Dr. suggested walking a mile a day but that didn't appeal to me. You inspired me to get an ebike which arrived in Dec. '23. My first ride was only 10 minutes, but I was hooked. Now I ride to the pharmacy, sub shop, any place I don't have to leave the bike out of sight or for an extended time. By the way, I'm 76 now and I love it, so thank you my friend. Edited to add: My daily goal is 1 hour or more. Sometimes I meet it, sometimes I don't, but it's all good.

Russ, Bill from Dayton, Ohio. Being Retired and 74, I opted for a two-wheel scooter, because of it's light weight and ease getting it in and out of the apartment. Now it came with a bell, which is fine around pedestrians, but useless around traffic. So I put an air horn on that is powered by battery. It is 120 dB so that does get the drivers attention. The turn signals I ordered and we be here Monday, are Carry Bright! Front and rear lites. One remote operates all 4. They each have a mount that attaches with an "O" ring, then the lights snap in the mount. They have the normal signal, as well as a flasher and emergency flasher that flashes all the lights front and rear. It comes with a USB harness that connects all four to one USB. These are quick and easy to mount and remove, and would be perfect for you! Undo 4 "O" rings and move to the next bike. Lots of youtube videos about them. ❤❤

Another thing you may cover, maybe you have in the past, but would like it again. Bike helmets. My brother and I have helmets with bluetooth so we can talk with each other without having to be next to each other, or shouting. Sena is the brank, we love them.

As far as stopping at stop signs, a lot of the bike trails in Minnesota have stop signs for area where farmers cross to get to their fields, but so infrequently that stopping or even slowing down is a waste. The farmer should have the yield or stop sign as there is a lot more traffic on the trail than tractors crossing. As far as signaling my turns, I signal if there is traffic, otherwise what is the use? And I agree with using the right arm for right turns. thanks Russ.
@LarrysViews6 күн бұрын
I do signal but don't use left arm for right turns any longer. When I had left arm up for right turn, I had people always waving to me🙄 Good vid Russ.

40+ lbs great job Russ! I'm down 31 since mid-May. I know that depressed feeling when you step on the scale and it goes up a pound or more. Don't worry about the weight while on vacation! Love my Xnito! I don't think Rad doing very good....a lot more competition these days

Where your riding doesn’t matter too much to me, I tune in for the talking mostly. Could be that some of those complaints about not stopping at the 🛑 sign are the same ones that are impatiently honking behind people in intersections. I get that a lot, I mean, where do you want me to go?! 🚙 🤷🏻♀️

I tried to get an affiliate link numerous times with Juiced bikes they told me my channel was too small. They only work with people with 20,000 plus subscribers. It’s stupid. We’re only trying to help them sell bikes and make a small profit.

Yesterday, my buddy and I were riding and approaching an intersection which we intended to go straight through when this guy in a pickup truck came within a foot to my left then turned right, right in front of me. He didn't put his turn signal on until he began turning. Good thing I have good brakes. I had to make a hard stop to avoid getting hit. Uncontrollably, I let go with an expletive. Be careful out there. Is there a signal for going straight? 😮

Where I am at here in FL, the people in cars always give bikes the right of way. It is even unlawful to pass a bike within 3 feet of space. However, I use a blinker and a short hand single if vehicles are in sight.
