I do have a design that uses this very thinking. Make 6 bases into one, not using TC stack as I dont use mechanics that are considered bugs and will eventually be fixed. Make 6 bases into one base that each cost 20 rockets to get to. De-moralizing your enemy with empty base after empty base is very effective :D Solo player can just make the single version that can be ur starter. Single version is 15 rockets or 1 HQM wall. or 5 garage doors either side. or x2 sheet roof if you will. Totally achievable on medium pop server for even mediocre skill player

@Oliver no, what hes saying, is that not every single decision should be thought about making a base insanely secure, just focus on playing the game itself, have fun, and make it just easy to use. the amount of time people spend to get a super secure base, will mean nothing if someone truly wants toraid you. following what Malonik said, if you find the right point between having a secure base that small groups cant raid, but small enough to not make a zerg have an appeal to raiding it. In general, having a base thats just fun to use, and actually getting out of base to pvp and enjoy the game is what probably best, rather than worrying about being unraidable, and overthinking the base build. I have had so many wipes with the same base build, but when i realised not long ago to just go wild and make things different and mix it up occasionally, all of a sudden the game becomes totally different in the base aspect, and allows you to do so many different things. it really keeps the game more interesting, and allows you to be creative, which i can confirm from personal experience is way more enjoyable than using the same base design / having one thats not convenient, as defence is a priority. as stated, if someone wants to raid you enough... then they will... focus on being creative and different. Meta doesnt = the best option...

i doubt that...it wouldn't be so easy to raid people if this is what they imagined. They could have made bases a lot stronger but harder to expand, so you could be safe from most players with little effort while zergs would still nolife and take down your base in an instant. But instead we got a game that reminds me of old rts with extra steps...the normal players are just doing their thing and out of nowhere, 2min(or 1h in rust) into the game you get zerg rushed (or zerg raided in rust...)
@Subreon4 жыл бұрын
@@Malonik Actually... Thinking about that. It could be possible when they finally finish making the game. They said that when they get the game to the a point they consider to be "finished" they'll stop wiping servers. They're already transitioning to that by not erasing blueprints on official servers. If people don't have to worry about huge intricate buildings being wiped, then they'll build bigger and bigger stuff, but stuff that would require large amounts of people working together to upkeep. Along with the addition of many specialized paths to create stuff, like someone who makes weapons, armor, vehicles, and farms, a full blown city/civilization could be made. Along with a government started by the person who builds the initial foundation for the city. Recruiting people to be the city's guards, possibly with full time heli patrols scanning the outskirts, hiring people for various tasks for upkeep, and even having a treasury to pay the players who spend all their time farming for the city's different resources. The city's founder could be the scrap farmer, who pays the residents for their contributions. Personally I'd be the town's mechanic with a huge garage to buy fix and sell vehicles. OMG this is beautiful. Some things would have to be added to make this more likely though. Like some kind of city TC that's indestructible and covers a massive area. Only the founder would have access to it to pull resources in or out, which maintain the basic structure of the city, such as the roads and civic buildings. Plots of land could also be marked out for how much building space a person is allowed to build on, and to claim a plot, the founder has to give them a resident TC which can be placed within the boundary of the communal TC. Only the resident, their friends/team and the city founder would have access to that TC. The resident TC wouldn't have an upkeep cost, it's only to mark that plot of land as theirs. Depending on the amount of unique residents who own plots of land in the city, the communal TC can be upgraded to cover an even bigger territory, along with granting bonuses such as building stability is much stronger so skyscrapers can be built, and more vehicles can be marked as city defense vehicles, of which now have higher armor and fuel efficiency. Along with the founder having the ability to place more and stronger city defense turrets, like the outpost has. Important to note that residents can build their building as high as they want and as wide as they want (if they buy plots of land next to each other) and the communal TC's upkeep cost only increases at a flat rate per claimed plot, however the resident of that plot will have to pay a higher tax with a bigger building. None of these rates or costs are preset though, so cities will have to compete with each other on prices to hold more residents and sell more goods on an everlasting bidding war. which may lead to weapon wars against each other with actual city residents hired as military members to defend their country, i mean city. This could make Rust the most amazing game ever tbh. @Malonik please make a video on my idea and get it some traction. Add your own ideas to it too if you want. I'm personally not too sure on how the upkeep costs and taxes and such should work, but I like the base of my idea. a big city TC with little resident TC's to claim plots of land created by the founder, and upgrading the city TC with more residents and gaining better city defense tools and bonuses. Imagine city territories built up and out bigger than monument territories. the potential of it all...

Bro I have been preaching something for so long now it’s unbelievable. There is no point to build a HUGE/expensive base. I (5.9k hours) and my groups (4k-10k hours each) have decided that even thought we get loads of loot each and every wipe, the most IDEAL way to play rust is having a main base which is generally my own custom design or a majorly honeycombed 2x2 expansion from the original wipe base, along with SEVERAL 2x1’s across the map ranging at different monuments. Each 2x1 has a specific layout: wooden door KEY lock on the front door, along with an armored door on the inside, plus garage door if necessary. We generally get enough scrap to put down a tier 2 in every single base along with a box of guns/supplies so we can easily snowball if our main gets offline raided. We spent weeks after weeks staying up til 7, 8, hell 9am sometimes to prevent our salty neighbors/clans from raiding all their loot back from us. We’ve even spent a few wipes legitimately building a whole new main base in a different location at 9 or 10am (after staying up all night) just to prevent the offline that we know is coming. But here’s the thing, we realized that even if our main base gets raided and we lose a portion of our loot, we will always have more bases, we will always have more loot, and when we do get offline raided that just gives us all the more reason to get back on with vengeance. Since we started practicing this strategy we have yet to have a single wipe where more than 1 of our several bases have been offline raided. This is why I think the rust mets is having multiple bases. As long as you have a main base you can defend an online raid from, and side bases you can store loot, you’ll always find a way to work you back up. Good on ya for the vid! Cheers!

Good points, I've noticed the same things. It's good to understand there are two types of raids, profit raids and revenge raids. Best defense against profit raids is to have your base look poor and hence not profitable. If it looks "too meta" it can gain attraction. A non-2x2/3x3 base with stone honeycomb is very unappealing. If you are expecting a revenge raid after, for example, winning fights against a group, you will get raided no matter the cost. Here it is best to mitigate your losses and hide loot in external bases and TCs.

The last base I built on a 5X took 60 rockets and 30 C-4 and inknown amount of HE ammo for three players to get to the TC in 50 minutes. The base was not complete and was 40% stone. The funny thing is there was nothing really worth while in the base beyond what most groups could get in sourcing for 4 to 6 hours. I had 2 rockets in the base. The trick... Triangles, half walls, lots of spaced floor, non symmetrical design, spacing in the base, securing every room.

I built this base on a x3 server. And wipes were a week long. So basically at day 4 everyone had c4 and rockets. I had 1 failed offline raid and defended 1 online raid. Thanks to the great 360° viewing deck. After the online defense that I won, the same clan was quite salty and decided to offline me at the most obsurd hours of the morning going through the honeycombing and not through doors. Also adding that you should add a airlock to all external entrances as I had 2 incedentces where by people got into my viewing area and was only about 3 doors to main loot. All in all this base is way too strong for a solo-trio group to try raid you. But after day 4 you may want to add a couple turrets and upgrade the Centre core to high quality metal and honeycombing of the core to sheet metal.
I don't see how this can take up to 30 rockets to raid. Assuming a raider goes through walls, they only have to go through the outer honeycombed stone wall, the inner honeycombed sheet metal wall, and the actual wall of your base (let's even assume that is an armored wall). All of that only takes 14 C4s which is equivalent to 22 rockets to get into the core, or did I miss something?
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
Depending on which side they hit and how you lay out the interior you can make them have to go through an additional 2 garage doors or 6 rockets to loot and TC bringing it up to 28 rockets.

Hmm I'll see if I can make it work.. I'm sure I can get peak downs in there I'm just not sure how helpful they'll be because it's such close proximity.

Evil Wurst has plenty of base designs which are in the 30 rocket range. As a solo, I've used a lot of them. The other advantage to them is the footprint for most makes them look like an unattractive raid target, even though they have the high density loot room design that Evil uses. A lot of raids are avoided simply from that.

Then u get people watchin his vids and knowing best side to raid on
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
Yeah most times I see an evil design I just nope the fuck out of there lol.
@allanwebb29854 жыл бұрын
@@emil7163 I mean, you can reverse the design to deal with some of that. Or use a completely symmetric design where there are two or more entrances and you don't really know which side the TC is on. It at least gives you a coin flip as to whether the raider chooses the right side.

I like the message. I always play on 10-30x modded servers, so my perspective is skewed. I am still trying to learn what amount of rocket protection is feasible on most servers (vanilla).

Rustopia official player here, I've been playing for over 2500 hours - My bases are often spindly wizard towers perched on top of rocks/mountains, With no care or concern for meta and rather one for fun. They often come out looking super trashy, Covered in signs with weird compounds (Making fields of spikes is always fun) My take away from playing like this for as long as I have? I almost NEVER get raided, People don't bother... They assume you're not worth it/Profit or they don't know your design as it follows none of the regular logic.

The best base is one in cave. Since it generaly only has one point where people can enter and if you place turrets there...nothing cant enter it. All you have to do is re-inforce the front with high quality to discorage rocket raiding.
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
I've got mixed feelings on cave bases. On one hand they're easily the most secure as you're right and can reinforce the hell out of it... But it also means that you have no way out.... So if they get guys to watch the cave exits then you're trapped. If you set up a little 2x2 or something nearby that you keep kits in it might be better.
@Bullminator4 жыл бұрын
I generaly go with those that have 2 exits (normal entrance and bucket exit). I solved camper issue with placing some cameras outside it (cheap bases with 2 doors and nothing inside but one gun to deal with camper). Only issue is that they dont work at night due to lack of sun. Other issue is that not all of them can be wired for power, so you need to learn wich location is best as burning oil to run turrets is just not possible.

once you get past 25-30 rockets or so you're pretty much not gonna be raided by anyone but zergs unless you make someone really mad. zergs are fine raiding big bases cause they have farmers who are willing to farm 4-8 hours a day just cause they enjoy doing it, if they wanna raid you they will. for me as a solo 24-ish rockets in a small base has always been the sweet spot. usually the bigger the base the more zergs want to raid it, if it's just a simple 2x1 bunker with 1 layer of honeycomb then it's powerful enough to stop small groups from raiding me, but still insignificant enough to make zergs not wanna just randomly target me. also usually as i raid people around me if their base is something cheap to upkeep like a stone 2x2 then just keep it up and leave whatever prim gear and stuff that you don't need inside of it, if you ever get raided at your main base you instantly have another base to fall back on. you can also use it as a respawn point or if you're getting followed after winning a big fight you can go back to one of the bases you raided. if you feel like your main is gonna be raided you can split some loot up, as well.
@Malonik4 жыл бұрын
All solid advice. Keeping the bases alive also discourages new people from building in the area because it will keep it looking busy.
