2:45 before you go freaking out and changing stuff remember your gonna be putting stuff in the back. Load the car up with weight and then check if it’s still to high.

This is his drifter so his not gonna have loads of stuff in the back.. I would do as he says, getting 2 inch shorter springs

Great work my man. I was hesitant to diy my own brake lines and it turned out a lot easier than I thought it would be! Just gotta jump into it and do it to figure it out, now brake repairs will seem like a piece of cake (although annoying af). Good tip with mocking up the line on the car before cutting, I copied my broken line in copper and it turned out my bends were off enough for the fittings to not align and not clip into mounting brackets, lots of twisting and bending fixed it but was a real pain in the ass. Also like you said, don't forget the fitting before flaring, learned that the hard way.

Hay Jole, first thing 1st this is not just for you this is for everyone that works on their cars. When you run out of air in a canned that has aerosol you can use a valve stem that's been cut on the end to refill that can with air compressed air to be pacific. Second don't feel bad about driving a car with bad brakes I drove a car my wagon F 2 thousand3E 46 500 miles with a leaking brake caliber talk about stress. lol. We gotta do we gotta do.
@Skrillhex Жыл бұрын
you need 4 brake lines because you have 4 channel abs on the e46 , the e30 has 3 channel abs . reason why it only uses one line to the rear
@veritasaequitas9875 Жыл бұрын
Hi ImJoel. Brilliant video. The inspection shop told me last week that my rear lines are crusty and need to be replaced. They also told me they would have to remove the tank, the prop shaft and the exhaust to get to them. (And bill me for that of course) You have just demonstrated that's bogus. I don't have a lift so I might let a shop do the job anyway but at least I now know that it is possible to do it without dropping the tank. Then again I might have a go myself. Just needs a little ingenuity. It's a shame how some mechanics can't think outside the box like you just did. Can't thank you enough. It has been a few months now. Is it still good?
@friguy4444 Жыл бұрын
The best way to do this is to buy the line already bent and ready for install. It's a bit more money but worth it as doing all those flairs and then bends is INSANE!! LOL. Great video as always Joel!!
@lionelcoleman8888 Жыл бұрын
Does that mean you have to remove the fuel tank though?
@siimk7437 Жыл бұрын
Great vids man, should have done the brake lines when your rear axle was off, luckily i did mine when i manual swapped--xdrive deleted mine. I did new lines from the rear door because they also rot on top of the fuel tank. But as always, great video quality and content, keep up the good work! Edit: watched some more of the video, the lines were dead like i imagined :D E46 is sending 2 lines to back to control the stability control and shit on each wheel from the ABS pump, thats why there's 2 lines.

Bro those NiCopp lines are a breeze once you get the old rusty shit off, and once you find a decent bubble flare tool. If I see any corrosion now I just replace the whole line. Great job and good find on the bumper 😎

What you’re talking about in the beginning is the motion ratio of your spring but I think you have it backwards. The further inward it is from the wheel, the MORE effective it is. For example let’s say you had a true coil over strut setup with 10k springs. If you now move you spring back to the bucket, you would only need around a 6k spring for the same effectiveness. This is because the spot on the arm where the spring sits (the “bucket”) is about 60% of the way to the wheel. Chelsea Denofa has a really good video on spring rates if you want to look into it more.

The problem is the maxpeedorods rear shock absorber is too short and you have to over compress/preload the spring to get the bolt in
@plugpenguin1660 Жыл бұрын
watch denofas video on how to setup rear shock/spring. i used to think that too, it will help you understand whats goin on back there

My brake line broke during MOT test and when I got underneath the car I noticed that the bolts in the exhaust support bracket were so rusted, there was no chance of getting them off without them breaking. There were some other bolts with similiar issues, so fun times ahead! Have to replace brackets and other stuff at the same time.

16 k is very stiff. I’ve never seen anyone go over 12k on a rear unless it’s a rear engine. A shorter 10-12k would probably be better. If you are ever in this position you can crimp off the rears so the fronts keep working. I dummied mine in copper and then used it as a guide to bend up a SS line.

Some rear adjustable lower control arms will definitely help with the camber there are eBay ones going for around 100 bucks which are way better than the stock ones because the stocks are built like shi and bend easily. Love the video btw keep it up!
