Great video. I like the idea of making the patch bigger than needed so you can shape it correctly. That’s something I haven’t done and will start doing. Your videos are the best on KZbin for me to learn from. Thanks!

Jerry you did a great job on the patch panels as alway's. Jerry you need to do me a solid and replace that cheezy ground clamp on your welder, it looks like it was cut off a set of $5.00 jumper cables from walmart. Just my humble observation.

There's not many AMX restorations on KZbin. It's very interesting. I imagine parts are hard to find and or expensive.
@LakesideAutobody2 күн бұрын
Expensive but not as hard to find as one might think. There's some pretty good places to buy parts on the internet. If they don't have it though - you're in trouble :)

Do you do anything to treat the rust behind the rocker?
@BT-ih6krКүн бұрын
great video Jerry one question, why cut the right notch in the patch vs cutting the rocker square like the patch panel? easier than removing the pinch welds?
@LakesideAutobodyКүн бұрын
It explains why at 2:15 - if that don't help ask again :)

It's cheaper if you do a truck - like 80's or 90's. Very cheap.

hi mate, thanks again, im restoring a Lada 2103, i need to do a repair similar to this on the rear panel, but it has a curve in it. i am not sure what to do? thanks and happy new year!

No offense Jerry, but if that panel is available, I'd get it.
@LakesideAutobody2 күн бұрын
You make a good point but this car is going to be a daily driver - except in salt. It will hold up really well too as long as there's drainage and the pinch weld at the bottom is coated with oil after the paint work.
@markt94382 күн бұрын
Well you do really nice work but all you had to do is cut it straight you had the piece already done saved you so much cutting around that big radius plus all the welding you had to do when all you had to do is just straight cut it wow I don't know man. I would have done it the easy way
@LakesideAutobody2 күн бұрын
I wasn't sure what was rust and what was good metal - that's the reason for using the tin snips - you can "feel" thick and thin metal. When you're making a homemade patch you sort of want to keep the patch small as possible for the easiest fix. I wanted a video on patching rocker rust too - not just replacing - got a few of those already. Thanks for the comment though Mark - I get it 👍👍👍 - enjoy the weekend 🏈🏈😊

Be sure that 😂 your welding helmet is not set to "grind" before welding 🎉
