I found this old grinder near where I live. It is designed for sharpening old sickle bar mower blades. This one was missing some parts and badly needed new bearings and some love.
The thing that really caught my attention about this is the shape of it, I knew the gearing inside would be interesting, and it turned out to be a worm and wheel that is back driven from the wheel, opposite of most worm-wheel arrangements.
I didn't have a proper blade for testing, so I made a pretend blade one. It probably isn't the proper shape, but it's enough to demonstrate the tool working.
