Beginner-intermediate guitar players make many mistakes early on!!! I can relate. Lets bust out of the beginner-intermediate rut. Take your guitar playing to the next level. In this intermediate guitar lesson we will target the notes in the chords (chord tones) and create movement to those target notes. We can easily build a blue rock guitar solo using this technique. My biggest regret playing the guitar was not learning basic theory early on. To move forward in our guitar playing we need to know the fretboard, know the notes of the chords and the notes of the pentatonic and major scales! With this knowledge, we can learn many other techniques very easily. And have a lot more confidence as we played the guitar. This is an intermediate lead guitar lesson, but a beginner will certainly get some direction and knowledge from this lesson video. No matter where you’re at in your guitar journey start focusing more and more on using chord tones as you play rhythm and lead guitar. And fretboard knowledge is key to continually move forward in your learning of the instrument. Because once you have confidence in the notes that you’re playing, you will learn at a much faster rate. It’s exciting to make new connections on the fretboard. Lead guitar playing isn’t just about the pentatonic scale. It’s about having a connection with the chords that you are playing. Take the time to learn the names of the notes that you were playing. To get to the advanced guitar player level. You definitely need to know the fretboard. I think we all are lazy that way, but it’s so important. To improve your guitar playing skills you need some basic theory and this is where it starts. But the biggest one is not learning the guitar fretboard early on. This is by far the most important tool for your guitar playing. No matter what you learn on guitar, if you know the fretboard, you will learn it faster and it will sink into your soul and brain much deeper. I so much regret not learning this early on. A good starting place is learning, the route notes of the scales and chords that you use all the time. Then learning the notes around those Scales and Chords. Then you can keep expanding from there. You don’t have to learn the fretboard all at once. If I could do it over again, I would learn these things right away along with learning, Chords and Scales.
