As a former student of Ruth Slenczynska I still recall the moments we shared at my piano lessons. As a teacher I always shall remember every detail she included in how to practice and produce positive results which I always try to demonstrate to my students. She shall always be an inspiration in my playing my music and also teaching my students. We still communicate each year on her birthday and love to hear from her. Marcia Battat, Napa, CA (originally from New York City where I studied with Ruth).

The most important is slow and deliberately incorporate all correct steps. I wish my students would do it so focused too.

She was 96 years old when this video was uploaded. I wish i would be able to play like this when i reach old age too.

Yes, the real secret to playing correctly and fast is to practice very slowly and recognize every mistake so that it remains correctly in your brain, ears and fingers forever! Most students do not follow that important ingredient to being able to perform successfully. Marcia Battat, Napa, CA

Yes! that is pithy advice for all of us. It really makes all the difference in the world. It took me way too long to learn that.

You would think a woman of her fame would have a very responsive and in-tune C- or D-sized Steinway.

Who knows what kind of financial situation she's in? Maybe someone should start a GoFundMe to pay for getting her piano tuned.

..or an even better piano! But let's be real, it's an illusion that every good pianist owns a high quality piano or Steinway.

@@MrClassicalMusic1 Ruth Slenczynska still has a New York apartment? I thought she was in California now. Anyway, good to know.

Does not Madame Slenczynska deserve to play a well-tuned piano? There are some sore spots on this one.
