CANNING GREEN BEANS:
Stuff quarts full of washed and cut green beans ( we take off the stem end but leave the other one)
Add:
50-100 mg Zinc
1/2 to 1 TSP salt ( I use mineral salt)
fill jars with water up to the 'neck' of the jar, or 1" head space.
Pressure can for 20 minutes at 10lbs of pressure!

Thank you for sharing - my grandfather always said “if you have one boy, you have good help. If you have two boys, you have half the help and if you have three boys you have no help”. Hahaha! I laughed when I saw three boys standing around eating the beans and it reminded me of this saying.

The problem of today's society is that parents have stopped teaching their children how to think for themselves, be responsible, and be respectful. I personally think this makes you the most intelligent person in the room! That's why they're coming after us!! Keep up the good fight, sister!! GOD LOVES A WORKING MAN AND A NURTURING WOMAN!!

Problem is, my son I try to ask him to think for himself, but school isn't doing critical thinking and when I try at home, he doesn't have a thought in his head. But it might be that he's 13. No 13 year old boy has a good thought in their heads.

Your boys ate a full meal of green beans during the process. I laughed seeing the puffed out cheeks stuffed with the string beans as they were stuffing the jars! 😂 When I was a girl, my mom used to sit me outside at the picnic table on a nice day to snap the beans for dinner. It always seemed like a mountain I would never be able to conquer. Unfortunately I didn't have a couple of siblings to help me. Everytime I buy string beans now, I think about those days. I'd gladly snap beans for her now. ❤ Thanks for sharing the technique for keeping canned beans green and triggering good memories. 😊😊

We've been adding zinc to our green beans and pickles forever. In the old days, they put a zinc penny in the jars. A few years after they started making zinc vitamins, we started adding a zinc tablet to each jar. It makes the color great, but also keeps them a crisper.

Just saw your video on water canning Tomato Sauce. I t brought back so many memories of my family's much younger days. My father brought a 55 gallon metal drum. He cut it into 2. in one half he cut out a nice size hole about three thirds up. Followed by cutting rebar black steal. Then in the other half he set on top and filled it about half way with water making sure the water would be over the top of the jars. He started a fire in the bottom. Mother had 50 are so can jars full of green beans to can. Dad toke 24 bottoms, put them in the warming water. once the water started to bowl he keep the water bowling for 3 hours. Let it set over night to cool. Never again did they have problems of not sealing jars . Mom always said it was her bowling the leads right before use. I think it was a little of bother. the some of ever thing were used until recently. God be With.

Hi Ruthann! I came to this video because I’m canning some long beans we have. I didn’t know about the zinc-this is a game changer. Also, what kind of green beans do you typically grow? The reason I ask is because I always get green beans that have strings and I try to find a bean that doesn’t have those tough strings, if possible. My long beans are great and don’t have them but I’d also like to plant a bush bean too (next year probably). I enjoy all your videos so much. You’re amazing and so gifted. ♥️ Thanks!

Imo you might want to think of getting the 2nd pressure cooker bc kids grow fast and you'll be able to bless your child as your mother did for you.. Wish I had had a mom that taught me the things you know. ❤ And thanks for the tip. I had wondered how they made the greener green beans.
