If we only learn one lesson from the last couple of years. With the lockdowns and restrictions. Just how quickly our lives can change. Every moment we can spend it with and or doing something that you love. Are we about to have further lockdowns? or a downturn in our health? Every chance we get to spend time behind the vice. On or by the water with a rod in hand. Or a camera. Those memories are a priceless gift. A bonus for our memories. We have today and who can say how many tomorrows we still have. May your numbers be still in the thousands.

Great to finally meet you Lindsay. VERY difficult conditions on opening day. Perfect conditions early on, but someone forgot to tell the fish! By late afternoon it was too windy to cast from the boat. Great start for you with a lovely Brown. Hopefully the warmer weather kick starts the buzzers

Great edit Lindsay! Really liked the build up, the bird song, and the bacon butty’s. Also its great to see the peril of “wrong place - right method”. Now, if you got the snake in your thumb, had to perform surgery on self, and then got the Di7 round the engine it would be like one of my days out :-)

@@lindsayiflyfish I was lucky I went out and started on a different line to Al to cover all the options. A 12 foot fast tip just worked that day. I was expecting Al's Di 5 to work. Rutland never fails to deliver the unexpected. Great opening day though.

Im not sure about the decision to go DI7 on really cold water and want to know why you took that decision ? The sun should warm the surface and put the fish closer to the surface ? Maybe you were so early that the sun had no effect yet ? But DI7 was still really deep and Im wondering why those fish would be there in such conditions ?
@lindsayiflyfish2 жыл бұрын
Sebastian, a couple of reasons the first is 30 seasons of fishing Rutland at this time of year. The second is despite the sun the water is still very cold and will take several weeks to warm up. The fish in general terms are still largely inactive and mouthing around near the bottom. All that said this year the water levels are much reduced and fish have pushed out to the deeper water. AW have been pumping in causing a rapid change to the water temperature. The fish seem to be much higher in the water column.
