可能我個人比較在意跟角色的和諧度大於好聽與否吧!覺得至少不要跟周迅聲音的個性和頻率差這麼多,獅子怒吼聲就太極端了啦!

Jia has to be my favorite villainess of the series, cause even though she's done evil things, she generally cared for her children and you can tell she wanted the best for them. Or atleast that's what I got from the short videos I watched.

They all cared for their kids. The first empress basically died because she blamed herself for the death of her sons. Gao might have genuinely been happy to raise 1st prince and only turned on the empress when she realized she was the reason for her infertility. All she wanted was to have kids and raise them. Mei killed to avenge her son. Yanwan was good to Chun's son when she was a servant and doted on her own kids, even wanting to take back her first daughter Ying was raising. The kids were probably the only bright spot in that miserable city for all the women.

@@tias2705 Keyword is villainess though. I don't consider Gao or Mei villains but more like manipulated pawns? For first Empress (who I also don't really consider truly a villainess since she wasn't constantly trying to underhand everyone in the harem, mostly just Ruyi), yeah she loved her son and pushed him to be perfect but the fact he became weak due to nonstop studying and she continues to push him till he triggered his asthma kind of made me lean towards liking Jia a bit more. For Yanwan, the fact she conspired her son to only stay loyal to her was telling (atleast for me) that she didn't really see her children as her children and more like unaware youngsters she could use to increase her standing in the harem and keep her position safe once they were older.

@@fleurdelizvalencia623 Short Version: They all fit the dictionary definition of villainess and were all pawns/victims of others. Without Jia’s influence, all of them made unprompted and independent attacks against Ruyi because she had the emperor’s favor. They still would have attack her even without Jia, but her encouragement of it both gave her powerful allies and leverage to use against them if needed. She was the primary antagonist, but the others were also antagonists with varying abilities. Everyone genuinely loved their children, but the expectations for royal children was greatness and nothing less was acceptable. Fucha studied alongside her son, would have tried to nurse him to health if allowed, and offered years of her life for him to live longer. She died because she blamed herself for their early deaths. The moment Yanwan had enough standing to get her daughter back from Ying, she tried to do so because she wanted to raise all of her children together even though the daughter didn't do anything for her position. Meanwhile Jia’s schemes to get one of her sons into the crown prince position finally get her imprisoned in her own palace, and her major concern is about her promise to the clan leader to make her son the crown prince as if said son’s entire world wasn’t crumbling right in front of him which shows you what her priorities truly were. Long Version: A villainess is just a woman who opposes the hero of a fiction story or does evil deeds so they all fit the textbook definition of one. Every single woman in the harem served as a pawn for someone, even Jia. They were sent to the palace to represent the interests of their family and clans to win the emperor’s favor whether they wanted to or not. The complexities of their motivations and the machinations around their distinct and unique characters is what makes this drama so fantastic. These women aren’t just perpetrators, they are also victims which makes them so compelling. It's true that Jia incited Gao, Mei, and Empress Fucha, and furthered her own agenda through them, but she was really only capitalizing on existing hostilities. Each of them attacked Ruyi first without Jia’s interference. Fucha had the bracelets, Gao framed her for rumors and framed, beat, stripped, and humiliated Hailan for being friends with Ruyi, and Mei framed Ruyi for damaging her face when she did it herself. These independent acts showed their true character, their hate/jealousy of Ruyi, and how far they would go for favor. As long as Ruyi had the emperor’s favor, they would have attacked her. Jia simply fanned the flames. Jia is the ultimate antagonist of the show because she’s even responsible for her successor Yanwan, but each of them are villians of different levels and abilities in their own rights. I do find it interesting that you think Jia loved her kids the most, because I feel the opposite. Yanwan wanted to have all her kids together and the moment she was able to, she tried to get her daughter back even though it wouldn’t benefit her in anyway. Yes, she asked for loyalty from her son, but unlike the other women, she didn’t have status, family, or clan to back her. She was low born and her entire family was disgraced so she needed him to protect her. Fucha didn’t have that problem because her son was legitimate and she was empress with a powerful clan behind her. Yes, she pushed him to study, but that was because greatness was expected of all royal children and especially him as crown prince and legitimate son, but she accompanied him while he studied to support him. She wanted to risk her health to nurse him to health and sat outside devastated when she couldn’t. She pledged years off of her life if child could grow up healthy. She tried to fight to keep her daughter, but was unable to and was devastated by that too. She died because she felt immense guilt and responsibilities for her children’s fate. I questioned if she was just overly ambitious with her son’s studying, but the emperor’s reaction when Ruyi said it was okay if their unremarkable son who was just traumatized by an assassination attempt supported his more outstanding brother confirmed that Fucha acted in accordance to royal standards. He found Ruyi’s lack of ambition for him to be a severe character flaw even though he hated when princes strived for the crown prince title. Meanwhile, Jia always plotted to obtain as many sons as she could so one could achieve the crown prince position. She told her eldest that she was raising his head with her bribes to the official’s wives so that he could raise hers later as crown prince. When she was finally imprisoned in her palace, what did she say in her last conversation with her beloved eldest son? “I promised his lordship I would make you crown prince.” No comfort for the son who had just been discarded by the emperor because of her meddling, no concern for the boys who were now at the mercy of others with no mother to protect them, just regret for the man she loved and the position she coveted.

I would agree but also think she cared for the Duke or Prince of the Yu clan more than her own kids, thus all the situations she placed them in to win favor.

@@juliaalexander5788 She lost a child after framing Ruyi for having an affair (with a Buddhist monk of all people). She got out of bed and ran to see the Prince of Yu one last time. She was obsessed. Ruyi telling her the clan said she wasn't one of them was the prefect twist in her downfall. She did say she regretted it all in her death scene. But that was because she lost and ended up with nothing.
