I have a friend that I rebuilt his home near there right on the water and cypress resort is just down the road. It's paradise. I spent all together with different projects nearly a year up there. From Lake Charles.

Vicki and I stayed there one time a few years back and we we’re pretty close to the water.we were on the opposite site across from site 8 . I put out some throw lines on the jetty, but never caught anything. We also fished off the covered pier but to no avail. No fish but we had a good time.Y’all have a great looking Retro RV . Your accent sounds like your from south La. . My mother was raised up near Hessmer , La. There were 14 siblings in her family, her job was 39:22 39:22 My Grandmother done all the cooking . Vicki and I have been married for 52 years and live 14 miles south of Winnfield, La. We may start camp hosting in mid August at Jimmie Davis State Park East of Jonesboro. This will be our first time camp hosting.

Hey James. It’s another nice Louisiana campground. When we were there, it was a bit windy, I prefer to fly fish (double tapered fly line) so the wind is a big deal. We saw a lot of folk fishing from the bank and from that covered pier, but we see anyone catching much. I know the area is famous for big bass. Yes, Angel and I are both from southeast Louisiana. I was raised on the east edge of Cajun Country where red jambalaya was a staple food. Speaking of food (lol), Winnfield is close to Natchitoches, that’s where there our local store grocery store gets there “Crawfish Pies” from (Leave it to someone from South Louisiana to turn a conversation towards food! 🦞😄 )! We may have driven near Hessmer on our way to Toledo Bend, we often take the back roads when we go camping. Of course I’m always looking for a good spot to eat! We’ve talked about taking a trip up to Jimmie Davis, maybe we’ll see yall there. Thanks, James for the comment and thank you very much for watching our video Happy Trails & Happy Camping Mike and Angel

@@RetroRVRecon Why yes, I do. They are a great conversation starter, no matter where we go they always want to know about what our rig is and always lead to good friendships. We have to carry extra chairs for the company.

@@bobgrabowski2232 Awesome, a few weeks back we had tire issues on our way to northern Alabama. We had to settle for blackwalls on one side. I'm going to order two replacement white walls soon. You're right, plenty folks ask about the whitewall, they're an eye catcher for sure.😃

Another great review! A beautiful park that we might have to visit for sure. It appeared that some of the sites, the electrical hookups and especially the water hydrants were some distance from the campers. Did you guys experience that at your site? This weekend we are hauling our Lance truck camper to Queen Wilhelmina State Park near Mena, Arkansas. Thanks again and have a wonderful weekend! Edit: I saw your site and the hookups. It wasn’t too bad!
@RetroRVRecon2 жыл бұрын
Hey Doug, Yes, the hookups were a little different than we're used tobut not an issue. Let us know about the State Park you mentioned, we're curious abou it. Thanks again Doug for watching this video.
@doughutchison63822 жыл бұрын
@@RetroRVRecon Mike and Angel, this is actually the second time we’ve camped at Queen Wilhelmina State Park. It’s absolutely beautiful here. At almost 2,700’ in elevation it’s always cooler up here on the mountain. When we arrived at 5:30pm it was sunny and 79°. The spaces are a little close together and some are better than others in that respect. We are in site 12 and it’s very level side to side and a slight slope front to rear but your bumper jack can remedy that with no problem. It’s a 50 amp site but we’ve got a 50 to 30 amp dog bone on it. Water and electric only, but I believe there are some full hook up sites (41 sites total). We’re only here for two nights so not a deal breaker for us. I’m betting your 189R will fit with just enough room for your truck. Picnic table, standing grill, lantern hooks, and fire pit and it’s all behind the camper. Lots of trees but this one catches some sun. The lodge is really nice with a gift shop and great restaurant. There’s a kiddie train as well and the little train station also has an ice cream shop inside. And the views are INCREDIBLE! The last time we camped here we saw a black bear cub crossing the road. Next month we’ll be in Arkansas at Bull Shoals-White River State Park, Petit Jean State Park, and Mount Magazine State Park. They’re all some of the absolute best in Arkansas.

@@doughutchison6382 We've been lookig at Arkansas campgeound lately, I think we re gonna book a few in 2023. For us non sewer sites aren't a big deal, its just the two of us and besides, it means more site options. 🙂 We'll look into the ones you mentioned. Thanks Doug!!👍😀

we had the same issue reserving a spot at Bogue Chitto, we called the new reservation call system and the person had no knowledge at all of the camp grounds, we were told we had water, electric but when we arrived it was a primitive camp site, thank goodness they had a beautiful spot available by the creek. The person taking reservations should know the campground to answer questions 🙄correctly
