A good way to get here would be on hwy 16 from Amite off I-55 turn right going south on hwy 25 it's about 4 to 7 miles down on your left hand side, you will avoid a lot of traffic then if you came from I-12 On hwy 190 North to hwy 25 North, But hwy 16 is a little rough and needs repaving, but there is a Walmart either way you go ,

Thank you for publishing this video. I live near Liberty, which is the next town west of Percy Quin and the local McComb paper did several articles about the improvements but focused mainly on the cabins. If I am camping local I prefer the isolation of Clear Springs (which you covered earlier) in the Homochitto Forest, but I may have to try Percy Quin when the temps drop. If I can get site 94, that is.😀

There is always that possibility the motor is shot. If you can trouble shoot it, maybe check the switch. I'm really surprised ours is still working as well as it does down here in south Louisiana. Fontainebleau looks nothing like I remember. My Daddy and Mother used to take me there when I was a pre-teen until 13. I remember that Nixon resigned while we were there. Dayyd said we were roughing it because we had black & white TV. The last time I took my family there, tent camping, the raccoons stole all our groceries. Had to buy again. I have tent equipment but really would like to get a trailer. Daddy had a 27' , 1973 Terry. We loved it. Spoiled us. There used to be a swimming pool. I hear Katrina took it out. So many memories. I'll go back with Grandchildren soon I hope. God willing. Love watching Y'all. Keep it up and may God Bless.

I'd like to stop in to see what they've done since then, I hear they've been working on a lot of improvements. You can take those grands there for the nature trails, I'm sure they are in good shape. We were able to get a spot the first weekend they opened. While the renovations are so nice and it’s a beautiful campground and the camp store being opened is great…keep in mind the bathhouses have not been redone for those that need to use the facilities. Oh, and as mentioned, there’s alligators in the north end of the lake. And we were told the pool with be opened, but not this season. However, there is a small beach area with swimming available. We have reserved a spot and will be there the week of Thanksgiving…can’t wait!

We hope they have plans to update the bath houses too (Its nice to go to a campground with nice bathhouses.) We were told they are also going to clean up the hiking trail on the north end of the park, that would be GREAT!! ABout those alligators...one day I'm gonna see one of those Lake Tangi Gators, lol. WOW...I can't believe the completely unprofessional people that runs this RV Park!!! SHAME ON THE OWNERS FOR ALLOWING PEOPLE LIKE THIS TO ACT SO INAPPROPRIATE!!! NOTE: The one star is a huge stretch! But Harry that greeted us was very nice and informational as well, as you will see in this review. We arrived at this location on time for a 9 day stay August 2024. We had a couple questions that Harry couldn't answer before he took us to our site. He warned us about the office ladies and said they were in a good mood this morning and to bring chocolate to get answers to our questions. We laugh for a moment thinking that's weird and then Harry took us to our site. We have a 31' class A rv and they put us in a very tight site close to a large tree which seemed ok until we parked in space #37. The smell of sewage was overwhelming. We looked at the water hookup and dump area and there was feces, used TP paper and ? all over the ground. We proceeded to report this to the lady behind the desk in the office. She had an attitude right out of the gate and told us it was ok and not a sewer problem. First lie! We told her we were not going to stay in the sewage dump area. With an attitude, she said we could use the "Emergency site #53" so we walked over to take a look. It was very very tight for our Rv and jeep, but it was the only site they said was available even though the campground had many open sites. We went back to the rv at site #37 and watched the 2 worker shovelling up the dirt, tp, and ? from that site and putting it into a 5 gal bucket like it's something they have done before! We waited and watched. Then they put down Chlorine chunks on the ground to mask the smell. 10 minutes later, No one told us to wait there to be escorted to the next site #53, so I proceeded to move our RV out of the way of the digging, over to that site as my wife went back to the office to let the woman know we would try #53 site if that was OK and that I was headed to the new site with my our RV. WELL, Nothing like being greeted by a GM in a robe giving my wife all sorts of attitude with her posture and language threatening and telling us to not move the RV. My wife asked why and the Old red headed lady "GM in a robe" said we needed to be escorted. My wife said OK but no one told us! This old lady snapped at my wife in a very disturbing manor. She came back to our RV upset and told me the store. What a mess! we weren't onsite more than 20 minutes and they showed their asses! WAY TO GO OWNERS! The 2 guys that I guess were supposed to escort us were too busy digging up feces and dirt so maybe they forgot...? 2 days went by and we did not have enough room for our tow vehicle to park correctly. So on Monday morning Aug.12th, 9:00 AM, I went to the office to ask if they could move us to a better spot and we would pay the difference. Site K was available per what the website was offering. I asked the woman behind the counter if we could take that site. OUT OF THE GATE SHE HAD AN ATTITUDE BIG TIME!!! She said the sites were only for big rigs 42' long. I said ok but there is a fifth wheel out there now that's the same size as our Rv and my question was can I reserve the site for next year. She again asked me the size of our setup. I told her with tow we are 42'. I told her our rig was 31' and then she throw her hands in the air sat back in her chair and called me a liar! 3 times calling me a liar! The Old red headed lady in a robe approach me and said if I wasn't OK with the site, she would reimburse us and we would need to leave. I proceeded to address the ruud woman behind the counter and then told the GM that we had sewage smell at the site, allot of mudd and the water smells, this was at site #53, "Emergency site" The Old red headed GM lied and said the backup in site #37 was leafs! I laughed and said she was full of it because I was there and both the workers admitted it. Lie #2. I told them I was not happy and will make different accommodations and will let them know. Before I was done with them, another Park GM told me he was in charge of the park and asked me about the sewer smell at our site. I asked him what his position was and he said he was the onsite engineer...CJ. I told him I was an engineer as well and he asked me what type of engineer and I told him. The next words out of his mouth were insults. I let it go! He proceeded to show his ass by trying to tell me how an open tank will allow smells into your home or RV, This guys obviously was from another country with his silly hat and sandals! I told him that's why we have drain traps right, he nodded. Again SILLY! later that day we had another guy ask us to move our jeep 4 feet into our site, he told us he was the Park GM. That's 3 GM's. I moved the jeep back and forth because there was no room. Lastly. We set up new accommodations somewhere else and I called the office to let them know we were leaving 4 days early and to refund us for those days. 20 minutes after we left the park, we received a text stating that we had filled the sewage drain tube with rocks and that we were going to be reported to some entity and have to pay for the drain repair/snaking. So they have sewage backups and are trying to blame the customers! So we will report this park to every entity available to us letting people know about our experience and to beware! As a side note: when you arrive to a so called "RV resort" and you see the entrance all broken up and mud puddles, pool closed and lack of effort to the upkeep of the site, turn around and leave! The hwy 550 is very loud as well! THIS PLACE SUCKS AND SHAME ON THE OWNERS!

You guys are great! I have the Champion Dual fuel Inverter 4250, it’s much louder than the claimed 64 dB, on the heavy side, and not so practical for my camping needs but fine for home use. However the dual fuel feature is great to have. Looking for something that can run the soft-start AC in the event of a power outage in a camp ground, or if we do an overnight in a parking lot somewhere, recharge batteries, I can lift into and out of the truck, and runs quiet. I’m thinking seriously about getting the Honda 2200i. Thanks !

Hey Rory. Thank you. I haven't actually heard (no pun intended😄) any of the Champion Inverter generators yet. I bet the 4250 is great for around the house for a power outage (hurricane). Around here in the Deep South we all need to be very mindful of what works more than what is quiet.😁 Talking to friends and reading replies to this video, a lot of folks like the Champion brand generators, including me. The Honda's are good, then so are the Champions. Honda's are just a bit quieter, for camping. Thank you Rory for watching our video! Mike and Angel

Hey James. It’s another nice Louisiana campground. When we were there, it was a bit windy, I prefer to fly fish (double tapered fly line) so the wind is a big deal. We saw a lot of folk fishing from the bank and from that covered pier, but we see anyone catching much. I know the area is famous for big bass. Yes, Angel and I are both from southeast Louisiana. I was raised on the east edge of Cajun Country where red jambalaya was a staple food. Speaking of food (lol), Winnfield is close to Natchitoches, that’s where there our local store grocery store gets there “Crawfish Pies” from (Leave it to someone from South Louisiana to turn a conversation towards food! 🦞😄 )! We may have driven near Hessmer on our way to Toledo Bend, we often take the back roads when we go camping. Of course I’m always looking for a good spot to eat! Just found your video. How would you compare this campground to Persimmon Hill? I've heard great things about it as well. We've never been to either one, but we're hoping to get over that way this fall. Just trying to decide which one to book!

Hey Jason. We haven't stayed at Persimmon Hill but we drove through it while staying at Wallace Creek. Angel and I prefer Wallace Creek. To us the sites have a bit more space to give the feeling of privacy. Personally, if I had to chose...Wallace Creek would be my choice. Thanks Jason for watching our video!! I think that you might be able to hang the bikes unfolded with covers (one each side) on the outside of your truck bed. There are a lot of very talented guys out there that could weld something up for you that could hook over the side and that could be secured on the inside of the bed. Use horse blankets or 1/4" rubber floor matting to protect your truck. (Order at Big R or Tractor Supply.) Not sure if practical but just a thought. You might just start a trend!

Hey Deena. There are a lot of ideas, and a lot of talented folks to help :). Each time we take our bikes with us on a camping trip we learn just a little more about hauling them with us. Thank you for the suggestion and thank you for watching our vide, Deena. Mike and Angel

Hey Ashley. Thank you! We understand about the direction. Considering children playing, diesel engine noise and respect for the other folks camping we keep the drive-through down to one pass. We tried to centering the camera to capture both sides but found that didn't work very well. As we video more, we get better at it. We may just need to co back there and make another video with this comment in mind. Thank you Ashley for the comment and thank you very much for watching are video. Mike and Angel

Great video. Thank you. Do you ever worry about Carbon Monoxide and the need for venting?
@RetroRVRecon

Hey Margaret. No, not really. We only use the generator in a well ventilated area, being sure the generator exhaust is drifting away from the camper. We also have a multi gas sensor in the camper that will let us know if there area any gases in the camper. To be clear, we keep the generator outside of the camper. :) Great question!!👍 Thank you Margaret for the question and thanks for watching our video too. Mike and Angel
