This is our take on how to make a portable campsite post lamp where you can hang a sign or some flags. It is lightweight and portable. We will walk you through how we did it!

Amazon Links and Supply List- For the entire project
Gama Sonic Solar Light (This one works well with this application and has plastic windows)- amzn.to/3x46xAl
4-5 feet of 2" PVC - This will be the vertical post.
50" 1/2" PVC - This will be the horizontal post.
Two 1/2" PVC Caps - that will cap the flag posts (Do Not Glue These)- amzn.to/3m3DG9e
Two 1/2" PVC male threaded ends for the flag poles - These will be essential for breakdown- amzn.to/3m0d0WX
Two 1/2" PVC female threaded ends for the flag poles - These will be essential for breakdown.- amzn.to/3adHOk5
2" PVC Coupler - This was because the light was thicker in diameter than the 2" PVC so that the light will tighten down on the pipe- amzn.to/3NLpRIf
2" Male Threaded Adapter (in order to make the main flag pole more portable)-amzn.to/3t7Tyvh
2" Female Threaded Adapter (in order to make the main flag pole more portable)- amzn.to/3NbEXai
3" Closet Flange that will be the base of the main flag pole- amzn.to/3x6xhAz
3" to 2" PVC adapter - This will allow the 2" PVC to go into the 3" closet flange.- amzn.to/3aCW06N
Krylon Fusion Spray Paint- amzn.to/3x2VO9y
Flag Holders to keep them from wrapping- amzn.to/3m1b2pa
Grommet Kit to convert Garden Flags to attach to flag holders- amzn.to/3x3Zaco
Step 1 - Glue the coupler to the top of the 2" post. Glue the 3" to 2" adapter to the bottom of the 2" PVC at the height you wish the post to be.
Step 2 - Drill a perpendicular hole through the 2" PVC at level you wish flag post to be. Please be sure to try to do this as straight as possible. Use a drill bit just big enough for a piece of 1/2" PVC to fit through.
Step 3. Cut a piece of 1/2" PVC just long enough to go through 2" PVC and into a male threaded end on both sides. Glue male end to pipe after placing it into position. Apply liberal glue to try to hold the pipe as straight as possible as it dries.
Step 4 - Cut two 1/2" pipe sections about 20" long (or however long you wish for the flag holders to be.) Glue female 1/2" threaded ends to one end of 20" sections.
Step 5 - Put cap on the other ends of the 20" section. DO NOT GLUE. If you glue the caps then you cannot put anti furl flag hangers on post after painting.
Step 6 - Lag screw (or bolt) closet flange down to a wooden base. The wider the base the better. I would use a 12-14" section of 2x12 if it were available. (Do not glue vertical post in closet flange if you want to be able to take it apart.)
Step 7 - Lightly sand the whole assembly.
Step 8 - Paint the entire assembly whatever color you choose, probably the same color as the light which is usually white, brown, or, black.
Step 9 - Add the light to the top. As mentioned for our light we used a 2" coupler to add diameter to fit the mounting screws better. However, when the light rested down on the post the mounting screws were below the coupler, so I added a short piece of 2" PVC in the top in order to have weight rest on the pipe while also having the screws be the proper height in order to attach to the coupler.
Step 10 - Add the anti furl flag hangers by removing the caps from the ends of horizontal posts.
Step 11 - Enjoy

Yeah, it would be a lot cheaper to do a corded light and have a good amount of light, however, then you have the cord to deal with.
