I saw that happening to mine and thought I better engineer a better way. It’s been working great ever since. Thanks for watching.

part of the problem is manufacturers use way too short of a strut for a large door. I would replace with nearly double the length struts like a 27" or longer, move the strut mounts (not the ones on the door itself) down closer to outside kitchen countertop as low as you can get them, and move the door mounts further down closer to the middle of the door and not so close to the edge. And use about a 4"x8"flat aluminum under the mounts to spread the tension out. Amazing how engineers thought 3 short screws could hold up going into a foam core door.....when they coulda spent 4 dollars on a short piece of framing on each end. BTW they also installed your struts upside down. The piston is supposed to be facing down with the smaller diameter rod ball end on the door

I wish I have seen this before I did my fix last year with flat piece of thick aluminum with epoxy and eight screws today that all ripped out the wood look rotten, I think I might be looking a new door

This is all good until the inside of the door rots out like most do, i’m currently trying to come up with a different solution other than replacing thr plywood inside. I’m thinking about trying a 5/8” piece of pvc board, my only concern is the rigidity of the pvc compared to plywood

Might be a good alternative. I don’t like the way RV are so cheaply made. Thanks for watching.

My brackets did this because the door was rotting from water getting in.

Need to trim those screws up. Too long.
@funbro14 жыл бұрын
NO, the screws that I added were the same length as the factory installed screws. Just long enough to hold but they do not penetrate the outside at all. No trimming needed. Thanks for watching.

funbro1 Sorry, I meant the bolts you used.
@funbro14 жыл бұрын
The bolts can be trimmed if necessary or they can be replaced with shorter bolts if you feel the need.
