At exactly 4:45 in the video is a 1972-1973 Balboa 19 foot RV custom built on Dodge 1ton van chassis. Built by Jensen Marine, it's a semi-rare model. I had one myself and was the perfect size too. You could park in a standard parking space! Very cute and had large sliding side windows. Wish I still had it. This one looks restorable. Wish someone would save it.

Storm came through last year and knocked down all but one line pole to a friends house in Maine. Utility quoted him $35 K. He can't afford that so was without power for 7 weeks when I found out. Took him to a junkyard and we got a rare gem. 2-71 all GM generator sitting in a wrecked railroad refrigerator car. It still had the 2-71 gen set inside and we were able to buy it for $400. Got it back to his place with one stop on the way to buy a new 4-D battery to start it with as the original had frozen and was cracked. He is a heavy equipment mechanic and was like a kid with a new toy. Next day he brought back from work a complete 2-71 rebuild kit with new brushes for the generator. 4 hours later after priming he fired her up and after tuning she purrs. He equipped it with and automatic start stop which works by demand, turn on a light switch and wait for ten seconds or so and up comes the light his wife don't care, she simply turns on two or more rooms lights to keep the generator running. What she really likes is now the electric hot water heater works again. Generator is rated at 10KW and when we first turned the switch on to feed the house he was surprised at the load until he remembered the hot water heater. It's hooked up now to a new 275 gallon heating oil tank. Took three weeks to get the automated control for it. In the meantime he's building a windmill generator and building a battery bank to run the house without the generator. Just need a big inverter. Junkyards are interesting places to visit. You can learn a lot by what you find in a junkyard.

Never heard of a RV junkyard very cool
@jonsmith22174 жыл бұрын
I have some older generators and sold most of them. they were not inverter generators with Echo idle that's what I went to. And I went to propane propane is commercial grade compared to gasoline and the echo idle saves fuel. They're smaller generators than what I used to have and with more power. And running on propane a generator will last two to three times as long. and the oil spark plug and piston inside the engine never gets black with carbon running on propane. I didn't go to propane to save the world I went to it because it's longevity, durability, more fuel Savings in the long run because the motor last so much longer. And yes propane makes 10% less power than gasoline but at last longer the motor does and less tune-ups. You never have to change the spark plug and the oil and filter never turns black and smells of gasoline or suit that's in diesel oil. I'm so glad I built a small rainproof generator box. The generator box pulls the cool air from the bottom and blows it out the top. Unfortunately no one makes one but zombie box and they're not really for using over the road or rving so I had to make a small rainproof generator locked and secured mobile generator box.

That was a fun video! Glad Bella is doing better ❤️ I bet everyone that watched the video saw something they wanted to look at longer. I saw a straight bed for a 1/2 ton 84’ Ford I could have used back in the day. Nice Lincoln around 10:00. I read somewhere a long time ago, that it’s averaged that each vehicle in a junk yard has at least 66 cents in nooks and crannies. Lol.. if a person worked hard enough! Ewww, there were some gross rigs though 😫

Dave: You are a man right after my own heart. I love junk yards and I have spent many hours in junkyards like Rankins junkyard at Atwood Pa. and Zimmerman’s junkyard traveling Route 28/66 North of Kittanning turn off onto the road that goes from the Baum Pump Station to Synderville. It will be on the left before you get to Snyderville. My first car was a 1960 Plymouth Belvedere 318 V8 with the big tail fins with push button select automatic transmission. I am now retired and living in Thailand, I miss the days when I did my auto parts shopping at the junkyard.

If you are looking for a voltage regulator or any other Onan generator parts, google Flight Systems if you have your generator model #. They are much cheaper than buying from Onan and they are the ones who make the parts for Onan. A while ago I bought a voltage regulator for @ $150 from them for a 4K Onan. 1991 model.
