Lessons I have learned the hard way. 1. Maintain control of any pets or children before moving slides. 2. Always slow down. Speed breaks things. (I have blown tires and run into my RVs) 3. Hold the grey tanks for last dump them after the black tank to clean out the pipes. 4. Always have a spare tire. 5. Make sure you have plenty of money for emergencies! It's not an if but when. 6. If you're stressed STOP! Take a breath and go again when you're level headed. 7. If you think you can fit check again! 8. You can not back up an RV if you are flat towing. 9. If you have a lot of windows in the winter insulate them. 10. Protect your pipes they freeze!

Boy, I remember the good old days😊 We took her 42 foot diesel pusher and boy did we have a blast! We had all the extras installed on it, including an outdoor shower and television! We boondocks in so many parking lots😂😂 And we ran our air and took showers and everything. Yep we had a generator for it with an inverter and all the good stuff. Yeah buddy those were the good days! I’d give anything to have those days back.😢 I lost my husband to cancer five years ago. But I’m thinking about going back out with my adult son! Selling my home, and hitting the road!👍

Good video guys, but as new RV owner that is still learning, here are a few big things I feel like you should have mentioned. 1. Make ABSOLUTELY sure that your hot water tank is full before turning on the hot water heater or it could ruin the element and cause very pricy repairs. 2. Make sure the RV is level before using your slide outs if you have them. 3. Do not use only the 4 corner stabilizers, you will need extra support such as wheel blocks. 4. You will most likely need a RV water filter and pressure regulator on your water lines. 5. You will need to familiarize yourself with the black and grey tank release values. Seems simple but can cause issues if you don't know to release them. I'm sure there are many more as I am still learning myself, but I feel like these may help someone from making an expensive mistake.

Thankfully we like each other & were able to keep warm! Looking forward to the next video! Chad & Libby

@chadwilliams75714 жыл бұрын
The DOA battery when it cold out stinks, but you only make that mistake once! I guess a question related specifically to RVing would be, what repairs/breakdowns/service work do you run into? We follow a lot of RVers and one of our favorite travel nurse people seem to constantly have breakdowns and issues. It’s almost a tragic comedy wondering what they are going to break next. We really feel for them. Other than that, what is life like when you’re both on a contract? I know you can’t be planning the next video all of the time. So, what’s the ugly side of work, laundry, school, and life in general? How do you get to work? What if you work different shifts? I guess just what’s the reality? Hope it’s not too crazy, but you asked!😂 Chad & Libby
@HappilyEverHanks4 жыл бұрын
Yeah you sure do only make that mistake once lol being stuck without a running source of heat is just miserable Great suggestions!! We love hearing this because we would have never known that would be interesting. Honestly we don’t know when our next nursing contract will be, but it would be really great to make some content around a topic like “the day in a life of.” Seeing the behind the scenes, nitty gritty side of things helps bring that perspective for sure! Awesome, awesome ideas you guys! Thank you Chad and Libby 🙂 you guys rock 👍🏼 - Kyle and Renee

I have one question no one ever mentions. What happens when you’re taking a shower and the waste tank fills up? Do you have to know what your remaining capacity is; and have predetermined space for how long you can take one? Is there a formula?… “Don’t wash the dishes hon! I have yet to get a shower!” That type of deal before we go to the dump station?
@HappilyEverHanks3 жыл бұрын
That’s a really good question! After a while you can kind of estimate how long it takes to fill up! We had a site with a sewer connection for the first couple of months to get acquainted with it! May need to determine that before attempting boondocking! We can both take about 4-5 showers each before our shower tank fills up (for example). Each rig and people living in it differ! You also usually have separate grey tanks, one for kitchen and one for bathroom! Hope this helps! ~Renee & Kyle

Our very first RV as adults and owners of the rig was SHOCKING. We both grew up camping and camped as adults. It was not the being outdoors or camp fire that got us. It was the having the trailer all leveled and as went to put the slide out? Too close to a tree. Then new placement made our sewer hose too short. Then too close to the covered grill area so the canopy wouldn't roll out. IT WAS A MESS. We did this outdoor gig all the time...RV was different. First time had to make an offical deposit? Other person... "GET OUT OF THE TRAILER" Poo Pouri helped but....ya know... Soundtrack. 🙈🤣🤣

Just found this feed and absolutely love it. I'm a comedy producer who's converting to RV life as a first time for our upcoming tours. My initial question (out of so many) is how does charging laptop/laptop usage work. I get I have a battery in my laptop, but do I need to be connected to power to charge it? Also, with WIFI, what are your recommendations? I wouldn't be at parks much as it'd primarily be parking lots etc.

What if you have a newer RV like we do. A 2023 Grand Design that only has a 12v fridge. There is no option to run off the propane. We do have solar and dual batteries so we can get by for quite some time. Just thought this should be mentioned because a lot of the new rigs have 12v only refrigerators.

I’m seeing a lot of motor homes that come with residential refrigerators which would seem to be problematic. I’m wanting to boondock, and the further out in the boonies the better, but I don’t want to order a RV. I’ve also seen where RV manufacturers are using tankless water heaters. How much does solar solve these challenges, and others?

Hey! Travel tech but new to RV life, picking up RV next month! Wondering when you're boondocking how long you guys can last before you're out of battery? We have been long time backpackers and campers, so we are light on the electricity. We used to have a small Japanese RV and added an additional battery and never used more than 50% of it even on road trips in in the winter. But how long can we expect with light use? I am paranoid about dead battery and not getting the slides in if we wanted to go boondocking for the weekend while on assignment.
@HappilyEverHanks3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jenn!! To be honest, might be able to squeeze a night or two out of a led acid battery. Between the lights, water pump and potential use of the furnace and stay warm at night… in our experience the deep cycle battery only last for like 2 nights. You might be able to get a small solar panel or generator to help take the edge off and finish out a full weekend 🙂 We are so happy for y’all! What kind of camper are you guys going to be getting?
@jenn7533 жыл бұрын
@@HappilyEverHanks good to know. I was hoping a weekend. But maybe we should get a portable panel just to make sure we can get those slides back in and keep enough juice in there. We are picking up an Outdoors RV 260KVS Titanium. If you check out Thompson RV recently made a nice video walk through - since they’ve been so back ordered no one has been able to get their hands on one!

I just got a 34' pretty sweet travel trailer. Its wired for solar. Any thoughts on the utility if i put up a few solar panels (its pre wired for it) and linked it to some extra batteries? Like if i put up some solar panels, could i run a microwave or my fireplace on those if i'm away from an RV park? and would it be worth the few thousand $ investment. Ill do more research just wanted your guys' input. Thanks!!
@HappilyEverHanks Жыл бұрын
Yeah it definitely is hard to say because of the financial situations and us not knowing yours. Having some solar is nice if you plan on doing a lot of boondocking, but things get expensive quickly. Yes, it is possible to run your microwave with an inverter, but you would need multiple batteries. Keep us posted on your research. We wish you all the best.
