RV's are so much more of a riddle than city water. Where I live irrigation water is unfiltered so you get moss, twigs, and grass in your pipes. Good job finding the answer to this one!
@totallyjonesin8 жыл бұрын
You need a prefilter bud. Just don't buy one that takes an expensive proprietary filter element.

After watching this I started by unscrewing the chrome tip of the faucet and Bam, full of sand and sedement in the screen. All other faucets worked with great pressure just like yours. I now have full pressure again thanks to watching your vid! Nice work!!
@lbjackson51798 жыл бұрын
Try taking the line off again as you did when you unhooked it and soak it in vinegar for a few hours to break up the deposits in the line and if it still doesn't give you better pressure try soaking the faucet as well. Hard water will leave mineral deposits but they can be melted and washed away with vinegar.

Oh my gosh! thank you so much for this. I was having fits over this issue. Had water the night before, nothing the next morning, just a dribble like the video. Water everywhere else in the coach. as an az native you will always be cleaning out your faucets . lol the little screen at the end of the faucet and anywhere else they might have a screen you will find calcium buildup, calcium sand like you found and in some cases sand. hint: put another screen filter before the faucet under the sink. it makes it easier later to clean out the inline screen.
@Nobody124098 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem with my shower head a few weeks ago. Same problem - sediment build-up in the gasket where the shower head screws-into the pipe with the screen in it. Cleaned out the sediment, and great pressure returned. Sometimes something simple like this is the right answer! Like someone else commented, be sure to clean the screen (if you have one) completely to get the full pressure back.

Pippi, hubby and I bought a frig and after a few uses we noticed when using the water in the door that the water stream slowed down. After a couple years he took it apart and when the frig was made, they punched a hole in something to put it together and that small piece of plastic was lodged in the hole where the water comes out. Then it worked like a charm. Hubby is a plumber and sometimes the city can do work on a line and sand gets in the lines to all the surrounding homes and he has to take off all the screen's in the aerator's in the faucets and run the water until the lines clear out. It sounds like hard water issues for you though. Good for you to figure that out.
@keithbyerly92078 жыл бұрын
Pippi you need to take out the aerator on the faucet. Since you found particals in the line the screen will plug up, you can buy a new one at Home Depo, or just put it in Vinegar for a few minutes then rinse it out.

Hi Pippi. You have been an inspiration to us RVer wanna bees. Really enjoy your channel. Glad you were able to correct your faucet issue. Another thing that is common when water pressure gets low in a faucet is the aerator screen will often get clogged from mineral deposits and if you remove the aerator and soak it in white vinegar that normally does the trick.
@PippiPeterson8 жыл бұрын
+Bert Copple Ya I just was surprised that such a new faucet would have so much trouble already on the screens. I bet they've got a little build up though! Thanks for the tip!

Hi Pippi, great fix! I do agree with some of the others, you probably should check the screen in the faucet head for rocks/calcium deposits. Also, I know in a stick and brick home, the hot water heaters should be drained every so often to flush out sediment by hooking up a garden hose to it and draining it. I'm not sure if that can be done in an RV hot water heater. Good luck in future adventures!

Excellent trouble shooting approach to start with the basics. Although I've never heard of calcium building into balls. My problem was the pumped sucked up small pieces of plastic from when holes were cut into the water tank when they made it. These made it into the pump and fouled up one of the valves. Hard to even see but removing it and reassembling the pump fixed my problem. Nice work!

@danburch99898 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem as you did (very low water volume). Mine was the cartridge in the faucet handle. Yep, water in the AZ desert is extremely hard and mineralized. Calcium or alkaline deposits are common and can build up anywhere. They can get caught in the seals or valve seats and cause a constant but slow leak. I currently have that problem with a back flow preventer (Saturday project). I've even found little pebbles at the aerator screen at the end of the faucet. Those little bits minerals will get caught in the tiny passages and can severely restrict the water from exiting the faucet.
@golfnut25998 жыл бұрын
can you replace the hose that goes from the handle to the faucet? thats what i would recommend, you might find that you can improve the water pressure even more as once you get those little rocks in the hose it can be hard to get them all out. but you did an amazing job searching out and fixing the probelm. great job

You can buy what's called a scale blaster that wraps around the pipe and it vibrates ...basically it breaks up the minerals that accumulate in the hoses and makes them really tiny so they pass without clogging. Then we just unscrew the screen on the faucet to rinse out the little hard minerals that were shook lose ...We have one in our home so I'm assuming it would work in an RV. You can google scale blaster or even do a KZbin search about it. It works really well.

I'm sure it was the scale pieces (pebbles.) I agree with others about first checking the screens but, it's not always the case. If the pipes are old and scale has built up, this often happens, but the problem is usually the screen at the faucet where the water comes out. You might check that too. I would never have thought of taking that apart and finding some clog there so, pat yourself on the back.

Yes, aerator. Other problem to keep in mind is that if you have enough minerals in the water you are hooking to then you probably are building the same up in your water heater too. That should be flushed out periodically. And those calcium deposits can raise Holy Heck with the seals in the flush mechanism on your toilet. Filters usually won't help much as the minerals are dissolved in the water. Only way to completely eliminate is with a water softener or reverse osmosis, that I know of. I think it's just something RV'S need to live with. Thanks for the video!

Any time you work on your water system, the screens on faucets can get clogged when you turn your water back on. It is a good idea to check the aerator screens and shower head screens. There was a problem with some home hot water tanks where the dip tube in the tanks would dissolve and leave deposits in the tank and clog things up. CLR might help shower heads.

I live in Houston where they are digging up the water lines in the street every month or so and each time they do, little rocks get in the water lines and do exactly what happened to you. As soon as we say black chips of asphalt we put an inline water filter in the water line. Best part is no more rocks, cleaner and better tasting water. For your RV you might think about those blue inline water filters I used to use in my 5th wheel from the spigot to the RV. It would keep them totally out of your life for good. Just a thought. Camco makes one for example and they are available most anywhere there are RV parts. Pippi do you use a water regulator to prevent massive over pressure? I would hate to think water lines split and flooding out your RV from the inside. While you can get pressure regulators anywhere, you might think about getting one with a gauge so you can always see how strong the water is coming into your RV. Love you vids and please stay safe!

@sjntube8 жыл бұрын
Yep. As a fellow Arizonan, I can attest that our water is horrifically hard. I have a softener hooked up to combat that. You can always get yourself some CLR or distilled vinegar and soak your faucets in that. It will dissolve the calcium deposits and free your lines up.
@PippiPeterson8 жыл бұрын
+Shawn Neal Yani didn't start with the head because I thought being so new it couldn't have calcified yet. I got some CLR ready though
@jerrysmith57827 жыл бұрын
About every other month, I have to flush out my water heater to get all the white calcium chunks out, because of restricted hot (ONLY) water flow. This has been true no matter where I was parked in Washington, Oregon, or California, and while exclusively using fresh connected city water. I replaced my water heater drain plug with a brass garden hose adapter with a brass cap, so that I can water the yard while flushing out my water heater. I get about a 1/4 cup of white mineral flakes and chunks out of the water heater every time I flush it, and vinegar definitely does NOT even put a dent in them even after 12 hours of soaking in straight (5%) vinegar. Only massive amounts of water can flush them out and get rid of them.
@alzathoth8 жыл бұрын
a good idea might be would be add a sediment filter to the water input on your rv. that way anything possibly in the water connection will not clog your rv water lines. great video pippi! :)

Calcium deposits can be a real PIA. You have a couple options to remove them. One is CLR, it works real well BUT it does attack some metals. The easier way is to use vinegar. Pull the sprayer head off and run some vinegar through it, remove the aerator from the end and soak it as well. One item to be concerned with though is the hot water heater. If you have buildup in the lines that can cause problems as well. I would look up the heater you have and see what they cover in regards to calcium/lime scale removal.

Harold Bevins I agree. That will be 99% of where the problems lie. My daughter had same problem at her house so I switched mine with hers and it works fine now. I'll get it back when she moves in a few weeks. But it was that very part where the water comes out of the faucet. Pippy, that stuff is either calcium or other sediment deposits, which every faucet will get, specially with hard water.

Yep, carbonate and other minerals will build up in your sink screens, even if you have a filtration system. Clean out the screens every so often and you're good. CLR can help clean out the system completely dissolving them. I'm sure there are a ton of videos online about that.

I got the same problem with my faucet There is a filter screen in the faucet head that some times needs cleaning that could give you low water pressure. One more thing the hoses that connect from the faucet to the water inlet have a rubber interior liner when you tighten them to the water intake if you twist the line it's like bending your water hose to lower water pressure in the hoses and your pressure will increase when you straighten out the bend in the hose.

+CanesFan65 Airstreams, unless you're referring to their motor homes, have no storage. Make sure you know why people recommend things. My RV living forum might be a good resource for you. There's a lot of topics and conversations about pulling the trigger ;) www.pippenings.com

I will have to check out your forum. Still have a lot of questions and concerns but part of the appeal is downsizing to the minimum so less storage space could be good. It's easy to "collect" but then it just gets in the way more than anything. Thanks for the input.

most facets have a screen at the point where the water comes out, more often that not week pressure on one fauset and not the others is a plugged screan.
