Those are old units. We add stands for balance. AC umits bolt from the ceiling pulling the unit down with 4 bolts. The curbs are wide and stabilize the unit as well. It may look weird but that is how a commercial roof functions. Thanks for subbing and watching. There are plenty of videos on here. Watch the four seasons siesta.... that'll make you laugh.

Nice looking upgrade. Cost as much as a 1990 Safari is worth! I own a 1993 Safari and also operate the Safari and Diesel coaches website.

I'm looking at a 1990 Safari High Tech edition with about the same condition roof. Could you tell me approx what a repair would be? Don't need the extra insulation this customer had done.

Been watching your videos. You do great work, and no doubt this roof will hold up. Question is we are in Kansas. When the time comes if we wanted this done, what is the best way to have this type of roof installed, and not have to drive to Georgia once a year for the warranty? Also what is the average square foot cost, with worst case planning to re deck the roof? How long does it take to do this as well? We have a 32 foot camper.

Cost for this? Also, how difficult to replace stained ceiling carpet?
@RVROOFINSTALL
@RVROOFINSTALL Жыл бұрын
The difficult is in the roof composition. If the ceiling carpet is stained chances are the sheathing underneath it delaminated or rotted. We do ceiling panels from the roof side. It is easier.. if you have leaks you need to get the roof done for sure or you'll be doing the ceiling twice. Thanks for watching.

You used OSB for decking. Why?
@RVROOFINSTALL
@RVROOFINSTALL 5 жыл бұрын
It depends on what we are doing. Burning this case it was a radiant barrier type sheathing and it only comes on OSB around here. That's what they wanted. OSB isn't terrible. If it gets wet it will get real mushy whereas plywood will typically delaminate first and then fall apart. Still too OSB is available in 9 foot lengths for wider coaches. The goal is to keep it dry. Thanks for watching!

I've noticed a bunch of problems with the balance of the AC. This of course is on a standard install. Don't you have maintenance issues with the heavy condenser portion of the AC hanging so high off the roof top with out anything to counter balance it? The gasket maker's have started providing a sticky foam pad that keeps the back of the AC from bouncing off a roof and puncturing the rubber. I think this will be exacerbated on your setup. PS. Thanks for the videos. It's helpful for people to see the construction of these rvs.

I answered this myself. Further back in the comments, you say you add stands. TY

We have not had any issues with our set up. It balances the AC like it should. In fact being in a curb actually helps the unit drain better and stay less clogged. Thanks for watching!
@dmtudder
@dmtudder 4 жыл бұрын
@@RVROOFINSTALL The issues i've seen aren't really structural. Since the lower/upper AC mounts hold together just fine. It's the fact that the back end has bolt heads protruding downward and they bounce off the rubber roof and make holes. This wouldn't happen in your case because of the height and lack of contact. Very interesting designs. Do you plan on offering these TPO roof platforms to diyers or other installers?
@RVROOFINSTALL
@RVROOFINSTALL 4 жыл бұрын
@@dmtudder no issue with the bolts driving through the roof. The feet are padded. We do not have plans to sell anything. Currently we do not sell anything.

@@RVROOFINSTALL Advice... I just rebuild the back end of my 2002 wildwood pull behind. Both rear/top corners were rotted along with the entire back structure. The corner molding was terminated in the top of the epdm roof and held in place with a screw. Water eventually pooled there and found it's way in. The epdm material was undamaged (other than the corner molding screw holes put in by the factory) and I was thinking about re-adhering the factory roof membrane to the new structure using new molding and then re-sealing the whole roof with one of those epdm resealing products. This is my father's old rv or I would've just dumped it. I would've gone TPO if it warranted a new roof, but I am hoping to give to my son for his family to use. Do you think this will work or should I spend the money on new membrane? Thanks for your time. --Dan

Using untreated repair trusses? Water always gets inside whether small or large amounts. 5 ply or more quality plywood will outlast white pine or cheap trusses. I think the owner is NOT doing enough quality control.
