My old stomping grounds. Lived in Astoria/Warrenton for 20 years! I love watching your videos, as I am unable to travel.

I have a lot of family history in that area, my great grandfather was born on the Columbia river and they named him Columbia after the river

Congratulations 🎊🎉 on a job well done, some of that 101 can be quite harrowing as it’s narrow with no shoulders in places, beautiful scenery always appreciated !! Carry On safely Russ

Thank you so much for the drone view. I have never seen Columbia river from that point of view. And I grew up in that area

If u r heading north into Washington try to see fort Flagler. It’s like fort Stevens with the gun placements. They r pre world war 1 in fact they were sold the Europe to fight world war 1. Just found your channel and enjoy every video. Thanks

loved the video. Well done on keeping the drone low and within range. Drone incursions with Coast Guard would be a big faux pas

There are lots of interesting things to see and do when you slow down and take the time to find them. Happy trails.

The "Peter Iredale" was a four-masted steel barque who ran aground there on October 25, 1906. She's been there ever since. Thanks for another great video, Russ!!!

Great video Russ. When you were on the viewing platform, and you swung your camera left and right. You mentioned the one to the right across the Columbia River was Washington State. Well when you swung to the left far down in the distance (about 25 miles) you could see a hill jutting out into the ocean. Arnold Schwarzenegger has a home along the beach there about 5 miles south of Seaside Oregon. I never get tired of going to the coast.

Yes, during WWII there was reason to believe Japan would attack America's west coast, so military defensive batteries were installed all along the west coast, many of which you can still visit today. In fact, Japan launched 285-300 fire balloons some of which reached North America and as far away as Michigan creating fires. At that time, only Japan knew about the jet streams traveling east to west and took advantage of this knowledge for military purposes. Moreover, six people were killed in Bly, OR by a Japanese fire bomb, making them the only Americans killed on the continental west coast during WWII.

You keep bringing great video. Lots of history here. That ship was 287 ft long. Needed a lighthouse there. Fort was built for serious use. Beautiful drone footage of the waterways at the peninsula. 😊👍👍

I've seen that ship since the 60s but the storms we've had lately in the last decade every moved about five or six feet of sand? So there's a lot more exposed except a lot of it has deteriorated

Russ, the weather has been great for you on the coast. I think we have been to the park but didn’t see the ship wreck. In 1970 a whale had washed up on the shore. They tried blowing it up to get ride of it. Big mistake, big mess. A big piece of it landed on a car and damaged it badly. There is original video on KZbin. During the Portland Rose Festival ships come to Portland. It would of been a sight to see them entering the Columbia River.
