You're driving through my most favorite area of our country. The Blue Ridge Parkway. You have no idea how much I wish I was there to see it with you. Lived in Knoxville Tn for 10 years. I spent every chance I had going through all that area. If you ever get the chance go to Maggie Valley, NC. It's my most favorite place to be. I'm so jealous. I hope you're having a great time.

Kinda funny..we left Saturday morning after the shooting in Laughlin('02)and road straight across the Country to where you are now..the Cherokee Survivor Rally, at the Casino. Stopped at the Spring car show in Pigeon Forge, road thru the Smokies, then Tail of the Dragon, before heading back to NM. Moved to Tenn later that year. Riding the Harley is the best way to travel. But I'm older now so I will be pulling the H-D, but have all the time in the world. Stay safe. ✌

Living in the areas, craggy, mt Mitchell and hearing your excitement makes me realize how we take for granted the areas we live in… My dad and uncles back in the day worked on construction of many places on the BRP, Many locals did back in the day… years ago I had a jeep renegade and in the summer it was awesome to take the top off and ride up to mt Mitchell for a good cool off…. Many places along the parkway their are pipes coming out that have the best mt spring water you can find… you just have to have a bottle… it’s always ice cold… love this video, makes me appreciate home :)

You don't see any of this out west? Strange! I see it every day where I live in the Cascades. The Redwoods are incredible too. The trees are a different color, but they're just as tall (and taller) and full of bird song! There are rivers everywhere here and waterfalls up and down the roads! You should check out Hwy 58 east of Eugene/Springfield Oregon!

Glad you enjoyed your time on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Being an NC resident and only 2 hours from it, I've driven all of the sections, just not contiguously. You missed showing the turn off to Mount Mitchell, the highest point in the east. And Linville Falls, with several miles of trails to a neat waterfall. Also, Rough Ridge at 2:01 is a short but steep hike to an incredible view of Grandfather Mountain, the Linn Cove Viaduct, and the whole valley around it. That parking lot is usually full. Craggy Dome, just north of the visitor center is another short hike to incredible 360 views. You can see all the way to Tennessee!

Soooo LOVE Going on these GREAT Trips, ADVENTURES 😁 !!! Especially with Your Laid Back, Take Your Time, Discriptive and Gentle Way 🙂!!! What a GREAT TREAT 😊 !!! THANK YOU, RUSS !!! You talked on this video, about not getting to see any much Green💚🍏 out there in Arizona, I get it, I'm from the FingerLakes, NYS. I am totally used to and Lovin' the Green We have here. Especially after I was in Show Low for 5 months last year. Although there is still a Green out there, with the Ponderosa Pines and some of the growth along the way🙂. Guess I've taken it for Granted here !!! Though, I LOVE SL !!! So Blessed to be able to have gone there !!! And experience AZ, at least to a degree, bc I'm mostly stuck in NY. By the way, it sounds like You're an Arizona transplant ? So, where were You before, and, how'd You end up there, may I ask ? Anyway, as We were taking the walk to see the Cataract Falls, Epic You said they were, I Noticed how Surreal and Vibrant the Green seemed to be there, along that Pathway, waaay more than is NY's !!!!!! Ok, Back to the Scenic Tour 👍😎

I've been once to that area and we RV'd staying at the Scott Kerr Lake Army Corp of Engineers Campground at Wilkesboro, NC. Great place by the way. We went to the Parkway and up about 15 miles that day to a couple of gorgeous overlooks driving our then "Toad car". Green grasses on the side of the road. We were still living in Florida back then. I think 2018 was when we were there. As for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, we liked Smokemont Campground on the NC side near Cherokee. No hookups but they allow daytime generator use and have water and clean restrooms.

1:05:10 the Plott Balsam overlook, in the distance is where my wife and I are currently looking at some land for sale. It sits at 4500ft with 60 mile southerly views. You can actually see it as it sits just below the story board when you stopped at that rest area. Absolutely stunning area, every time I go I want to never leave but reality always sets in, gotta go back to work. Thanks for taking me back, I'm hoping to get there in July to walk the property again.

One thing I didn't see as a follower. The down hill grades from the top down to the speed limit signs. Believe it.. !. If you are hard on the brakes from 40 mph as you roll down hill you can easily coast to 80 easily by the time you get to the bottom. The brakes can fade significantly. Even with a 2009 Dodge Charger freshly rented at Detroit metro airport to a vacation rest on a mountain top in N.C. in Cherokee to get my thoughts together for the next racing season. I got a ticket for 70 mph in a 50. and almost lost the rental car from wide curves going slide-ways.
