The Badlands was my maiden voyage in my 20ft toy hauler! I had my first weekend off work in months, bought the TT in omaha, and drove straight to Badlands from the dealership, 100% impulsively. Just showed up, boondocked and figured it all out on the spot LOL. Its been 1.5 years solo full timing now, and I'd love to go back. Great video. Thanks.

Another great trip. I’m still riding my Suzuki at 73 so when you pulled over to help that biker you won First Prize in my book. Nothing like Random Acts of Kindness!! Sunrise was gorgeous too. I need to get out there as my great great granpappy mined gold in Deadwood. I wonder if I can find his claim. Anyways great family trip. Oh and as a kid in elementary school in the 50’s, we actually had those “duck and cover” drills and Civil Defense was a big thing then. Glad that’s over!

We went to the Badlands NP toward the end of a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons, but didn't get to hike or do much but drive. We had camped at Custer SP. So now, we plan to go back this fall to boondock and enjoy the NP more, after Voyageurs and Theodore NPs. Great video!

Beautiful video. We're planning on boondocking on the Wall this summer, mud permitting. I'm of the generation that regularly did the duck and cover drills under our desk at school. It was my dad's squadron (VFP-62) that took all the low-level photography of the Cuban missile sites during the Cuban Missile Crisis. If you ever watch the movie 13 Days, you'll see those RF-8s that my Dad flew flying those missions. I can remember the endless convoys of Army equipment heading south on U.S. 17 (no I-95 back then), and we couldn't get any TV reception from the interference from all the airplanes heading south. We really thought we were going to have a nuclear war with Russia. And I still remember President Kennedy coming down to NAS Cecil Field to award medals to the squadron. Fly Navy,.

What incredible history! It wasn’t even that long ago... thank you for sharing, those are the important accounts that put things in perspective. People need to know, they have to understand what it took... thanks again, we got lucky with no mud! I hope it’s the same for you!

You know, I love your maintenance-based videos as much as the next guy, and cheers to Lippert and Grand Design, but FOS is never firing on all cylinders as much as when you are let loose to film the Great American Landscape. This is the quintessential Finding Our Someday video, replete with drone amazingness and outrageous video candy. Trailer suspensions and replaced axles are cool and necessary, but I don't think anyone's going to argue that dispersed Badlands and serendipitous lightning shows are not more transcendent. Great video, my friends.

Corey, you've never disappointed us or come close to ruining a video. Think of yourself as a tenured professor of the KZbin video. You're no longer that "new guy" trying to climb the ranks of accomplishment. To a huge swath of us, you're Dr. Nickerson, the grizzled prof whose techniques we shamelessly and unsuccessfully try to rip off. It's time for you to sit back in your KZbin University office, lean back in your chair, and know there is no pile of source content you can't turn into whiz-bang magic on a timeline. We all know it. You should, too.

I remember “duck and cover” growing up as a kid. (Wow I really feel old) The Badlands are awesome and so is Wall Drug. My first time there was in 1973 I was 10 then, it was pretty big back then but not as big as it is now. I remember there was a gravel road that led up to it and gravel parking lots and the sidewalks were made out of wood. One of the reasons why I like your channel so much is your family values you're doing a great job raising your kids. Awesome video and that lightning showing you got to see was awesome. Thank you for another wonderful video. Sydney is in lockdown at the moment. So can’t go anywhere. However, your videos help. I knew of the Badlands but didn’t know where they are, very interesting. When I worked in Oslo I was transferred to a new office block and next to where I sat was a nuclear fallout shelter that was about to be fitted out. Nuclear war was on everyone’s minds in the 1970’s and 1980’s. After Oslo I returned to London and remember there was a scare with US planes scrambling in West Germany, luckily someone realised it was a computer glitch or something. I hope my memory is correct on this, it’s a long time ago. Yes I did hear about the Russian guy. Governments don’t always treat people who do great things very well, like the guys who ran fighter command during the Battle of Britain.

I remember the practice drills with the sirens, duck and cover when I was in grade school. As a child I wa terrified of those sirens when they went off. We lived near El Toro Military base in California so it got pretty loud. Thanks for the loop drive directions. Can you drive down into the badlands below your camp site. I am too old to walk down but I would love to see it if I could drive down. You make wonderful videos, thank you for sharing your travels.

El Toro, is that the base they reference in ”Independence Day” 😎 you can drive through basically the same landscape in the National Park, literally a mile from this spot. It’s very accessible!

we just, couple days ago, left there as well.. not as green or lush.. when was this last year?? we had 40 MPH winds on monday night which was causing our airstream to shake a bit. we turned to right past towers and went to end turning around and getting a spot right up beside the edge down there.. was a great place and we saw 5 other AS and there was some 30 or rig all up and down the "edge".. that was the total AS we had seen in the past 2 months. Plus lots of stars in sky... gotta love washboard interstates.. LOL..

This was mid June for us, aristeams along the edge , that’s a good look 😎 we just north if there right now in Teddy Roosevelt and it’s not quite as green as that this time of year either. So much life there though for something seeming so desolate!

Finding Our Someday No, we haven’t planned on doing the night show so I don’t know. We are enjoying being here because it has been over 100 degrees in Texas this time of the year.
