What do you do if you have certain breeds of dogs and you want to travel to Alaska from Montana.
@RVingtoAlaska Жыл бұрын
We have every type of dog in Alaska. Breed of dog shouldn’t make any difference. Just make sure they are up to date on their rabies vaccinations and get your health certificates done right before leaving.
@tomintemann7844 Жыл бұрын
@@RVingtoAlaska ok thanks for the info. I was just wondering because one of my dogs is blue nose pit/German Rottweiler mix. I just don’t want to get turned away at the Canadian border.
@mariaplaa2 жыл бұрын
You didn't need to mail their certificates to Alaska or have import papers? I don't know if Alaska is as strict as Hawaii.
@roydavis22425 жыл бұрын
Some thing to add that travelers might not know. In some states, you will need the rabies vaccination paperwork to stay at state parks. We first encountered this in New York.

Love your channel!! Getting ready to go. Thanks for the vet info about crossing the border! We are suppose to leave this Monday. Do we need that 30 day when we come back from Alaska???? Thanks in advance for any info!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was wondering that also... I’m hoping to stay in Alaska for at least a couple months.
@RVingtoAlaska5 жыл бұрын
No. A health certificate is only necessary for Alaska. But it is possible it may be needed for the State your crossing back into. Washington I don’t think it’s necessary.

Did I hear you say only two pets?
@RVingtoAlaska5 жыл бұрын
That is what it says officially on the website I found in my research BUT I have never heard anyone having any issues crossing with more than two.
@davidw77765 жыл бұрын
@@RVingtoAlaska was that two per person or RV? We have three dogs...

It doesn’t specifically say. I’ve put links to the websites I used for his video in the video description. You may want to check those out.

You’ll be fine. We are a 3 dog family now ourselves and am not worried. New requirements however have changed but we will be updating that later this winter.

This is the first I've heard about the 30 day limit on the certificate of health before entering Alaska.That makes it really inconvenient for folks that live a long way from Alaska by having to find a Vet near the border. Also, do you have a new towed or are you still going to use your truck?
@RVingtoAlaska5 жыл бұрын
I think Alaska thinks most are flying in but I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Again your not asked at the border for it and the info is electronically sent to Alaska. As for our toad the truck is our main towing vehicle. Our Jeep is our homebase car at this time.

Is it 44# per animal or 44# per coach of dog food?
@RVingtoAlaska5 жыл бұрын
It does not say per dog but vehicle. Here is a weblink to that specific page regarding pet food. www.inspection.gc.ca/animals/terrestrial-animals/imports/policies/animal-products-and-by-products/pet-food/eng/1321129023397/1321129556426

What if you venture to Alaska but decide to stay in Canada for more than 30 days before entering Alaska? Do you have to have you pet checked in Canada?
@RVingtoAlaska5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t worry about it as long as you do it. The border patrol won’t check it and your Vet will electronically file with Alaska.
