The cost of storage units has gotten ridiculous! So nice that family members are taking heirlooms. Alec, Cindy is smart to keep boxes for sorting. That makes life much easier. I’m glad you’re documenting it so you can see progress. Otherwise it seems like you aren’t getting anywhere. I got rid of my small 5x5 storage unit and took about 7 bins to my son’s house. Early this year I reduced that to 3 bins and brought them back with me.

We went again to the storage unit yesterday ... we have it 80% cleaned out. Progress. Sounds like you ha e a handle on it.

@ Wow, that’s awesome! You’re kicking butt with that. What I have now is a closet that needs attention. You’ve inspired me to start working on it today. Maybe I can knock it out and be done with it.
@SHARINGJOURNEY2 ай бұрын
@grandmaspocketbook you should make an organization video and explain the process and importance of going thru stuff. Cindy told the kids ... we are doing it now, so you don't have to do it when we pass
@grandmaspocketbook2 ай бұрын
@ Exactly! No one wants to burden their children with an almost impossible task when they are grieving. Unfortunately, I don’t have a tripod so I can’t set my camera up to video the clean out. And I can’t imagine trying to do it one-handed. But maybe I’ll show the start, then some steps along the way. We will see.

I look forward to watching it. My MzVicky video yesterday caused lots of issues. I deleted one person for body shaming and outright ugliest and had to just stop answering several others. Lost several subs. It was crazy. Vicky was such a joy to meet.

When we started downsizing before going fulltime one thing I was firm about was we would NOT have any storage. So glad we stuck to that. I discovered there were family items that were no longer in demand, like my grandmother's china, so I donated it to an animal shelter resale shop as all funds go to the animals being rescued. We have been fulltime since 2015 everything we own we carry with us. We love the minimalistic life and like you we would never again have a big house if and when we settle someplace. Living with less "stuff" is so freeing. Heck even now HE can't find his "stuff" because he doesn't remember where he put it....go figure....it is a guy thing for sure.

I'm glad you got to finally go through the storage unit. We had one once and got rid of it. It was freeing to let that stuff go and keep our money. Good job! Glad the kids are keeping some things!

Yup, not worth the expense ! I know people that haven’t been to their storage unit in years ! Good that you are getting rid of the clutter in your mind ! 😆 lol 👍
@SHARINGJOURNEY2 ай бұрын
I will be the first to say ... it's a lot of work, but the benefits are worth the effort. We can do a good bit with an extra $6000 a year.

What a task taking care of all that stuff but has to be done as far as business records I just put them in a big pile and burn them I tried shredding but that takes for ever and I have no patience for that ! But I realize you probably don’t have a place to do that but it sure does save a lot of time ! 😊
@SHARINGJOURNEY2 ай бұрын
I really wish we could just burn it. We owned a large private investigator firm and produced a large amount of paper. Now Cindy is very active getting it all shredded.
@donnawashburn16382 ай бұрын
We’ve owned a large clean business for 32 years I know how many records your taking about ! Every 10 years I start burning I think your supposed to save for seven but I keep them for about 10 ! 😊

Yikes those prices are way high! Havent had one for awhile but it was over 100/month than. And like everything else costs just keeps going up. Glad items are going to family too.

Wow that’s a lot of money. All my stuff is junk anyway 😂 it’s all going to the dump when we go. I only have maybe a closet size of stuff to keep. Pictures and a pew pew cabinet. A couple million pieces of freedom fries 🍟 and various plates and fashion accessories 😊 because zombies. I have a fear of zombies.

I have a strong fear of them, too. That is why I have my other KZbin channel. Check it out ... called the Traveling Civilian.

I truly understand what you are going through - I still have so much stuff in storage and I need to get rid of. My husband is telling me we have made a big mistake with storage and we need to get rid of soon. Can you please tell me if it is easy to sell on E-bay.
@SHARINGJOURNEY2 ай бұрын
EBAY has been easy ... this week I have sold $400 worth of stuff. You just have to be willing to sell it below market. The value is getting rid of the storage unit, keeping it out of the landfill, and put some money in the bank.
@collinpillow40662 ай бұрын
Wow, that is expensive. Where I live a 10x30 climate-controlled unit averages around $185/month and I consider that way too high.

Wow. Storage is expensive where you are. I see 10x20 inside units for 250-300/mo here in Twin Cities, MN. It's good that your kids can take some family heirlooms. When my grandmother passed away I was trying to get my nieces and nephews to take some of her nicer things. It took years of nagging to finally get them to take on a little responsibility for carrying on family memories.

Yes ... storage units in Columbia SC is very expensive. Cindy is so happy that the kids are taking some of the family treasures.

Hello Elec and Cindy. I probably butchered the spelling of Elec. I was wondering what type of jeep you have and what year. Do you find it a comfortable ride? I’m looking for a jeep and I think yours is very nice.

Alec here ... we have a 2019 Wrangle Sport with the Altitude package. The Altitude has the larger screen, xm radio, upgraded rims, and a few other upgrades. We actually love the Jeep. We have had a few problems ... watch this video for more info on that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4vdep-whtCfnKMsi=nCG0nUJWAOfRh3yE
