These are all fine and good but the betrayal by the manufacturers where warranty and service are concerned is simply inexcusable! Leaving customers to repair trailers right off the lot is disgusting.
@TheBandit7613Ай бұрын
Impressive, but sometimes, less is more. Me and the wife are downsizing and going back to the basics with an older non-slide trailer. Tired of holding my breath every time we are ready to leave and press the slide in button. One piece aluminum roof. Smaller windows that don't transmit as much heat and cold. We sit outside most of the time. I really dislike scrolling thru a menu to turn on lights. Switches worked great for the last hundred years.

On the topic of Electric Motorhomes. It's about the user- Class A drive far less then Class B. Class A has a ton of empty space underneath to add batteries - Class B is already optimal packed. Class A has significant amount of roof space for solar - (hope for minisplit integration and get rid of all the crap on the roof)

Love the design evolution of the destination trailers. Those things are becoming wildly popular. Also love the idea of FOUR AC units in one of them. Makes summer camping more doable down here in the south. I'm in the process of looking for my seventh RV. I gave up my fabulous Jayco travel trailer a year ago to try a Class C for a while. I'd prefer the roominess of a travel trailer. I just wish, wish, wish that someone would come up with an easier hitch for a small woman to handle. At some point, some genius somewhere will develop a whole new "docking system" for RV's that doesn't require as much muscle to hitch and unhitch. Thank you for the video. There's a ton of good information here! 😃
@scoobri6Ай бұрын
You can use a ProPride hitch, my daughter uses one, and most of the hitch is on the rv itself, not on the truck, but it's 3 to 5k!!!! And you have to be straight on with the 'stinger' fitting into the small hole on the ProPride.... takes a lot of practice, but she does it all alone 🎉

@stuartstuart866Ай бұрын
What does “affordable” mean to you? You can buy a small travel trailer for about $15,000-$20,000, just don’t expect a lot of features or high end materials.
@maxhine3550Ай бұрын
@@stuartstuart866 Affordable to me means not having to change my current vehicle for one that can tow something heavy. For anything over $5K I expect materials that will last. I cannot afford to waste 5 figures on a vehicle with issues that needs a lot of repairs or maintenance due to shoddy materials or construction.

I'd be happy if they concentrated on quality. RV's are stapled and glued together from material more like cardboard than wood. The roofs are terrible. Some frames are suspect. Trailers could save a lot of gas and truck wear if they were more aerodynamic.

This has to be one of the coolest videos y'all have done. Big reveal video with SO MUCH new stuff. and, AND... Someone read my mind and used my idea for a 3 bedroom RV. WOO HOO. I'm not even mad they stole my idea right from my brain, LOL. Sometimes I just want things to happen, I don't need credit. Biggest difference I would make is putting opposable slides in that 3 bedroom with storage for clothes in the slides and making there be a bit of a floor so the kids have some space to do something on their own floor.

Note to the RV industry. The tiny house phenomenon is over. At best what you’re building now as destination trailers will end up in parking lot near homeless shelters.

I like the idea of making a class A coach a plug in hybrid. 150 miles on electric could be all some people need for a day, but it would also make a good Boondocking unit. I know Mercedes and Fiat/Ram have introduced vans with 250-270 miles of range, but I haven’t seen any RV companies convert them yet. I’m curious about campgrounds, since when EV pickups started appearing, some places introduced no charging rules. Now with Class A electric vehicles starting to appear will they stick to no charging, or upgrade their electric systems? I know one campground that is upgrading their electric grid since there are a lot of EV cars bringing trailers and tents from the nearby cities. One pickup I have been interested in has a 14-30 plug in the bed that could be adapted to a TT-30 that my trailer can use, then the truck itself could plug into the campground’s 14-50 outlet. I will be following the Thor/Harbinger effort to see if they have a floor plan and price point that works for me. If they made a Coachmen Euro 25LE clone with the 37”x38” gear garage, but PHEV instead of V8 gas, they would have a sale up to a certain price. I like the Thor Axis/Vegas line, but I was in a 25.7 today and it had issues with quality and that was the only floor plan with an almost good enough gear storage

@@lindsayheywood7195 I don’t have a porch, or even a rug for my trailer. I tend to bring mostly sand inside and have to sweep it out. I have been looking at private campgrounds and many of the trailers have a permanent porch so when they open the trailer door they are on a deck. Since my area is often rainy for part of the year I see the attraction rather than go right from the ground to inside. I used to tent camp and have only lately decided camping needs a comfortable bed and nearby bathroom. I see the appeal of bringing the entire house along, but I haven’t done it or plan to yet

As the quality of these improves (and it will), these will begin to make more and more sense as the impacts of climate change intensify. Triple-digit heat; wildfire smoke; hurricanes, etc. are seasonal. The #1 focus of these manufacturers should be insulation and energy efficiency. If you can get to a quality where you can move these once a year between 2 climate-friendly locations - you've got everything beat.

Hey guys, as usual, love the video. Now, do I believe RV assembly companies listen to their customers? I would say most don't but there "may" be a few exceptions but generally, I do not believe this is the case. They, like Grand Design does not listen to customers when they have major issues with their RV (frame failure) so why should they listen to them about needed changes. More customers need to start learning and ask about the structure before the interior items. The RV industry in Indiana itself has failed the RV community and you can only put lipstick on a pig so long before people decide to turn it into bacon. Pete

It was just a matter of time where the RV industry would respond negatively to the growing Liz Armstrong's "buy back this shoddy RV! " community. Build them cheaper and lighter and classify them in a legal way that travel stress on cheap Lippert Component Frames and BAL Accu-Slides is a tort dead end. I do appreciate they are making doors wider to allow RV owners replace their appliances without removing a slide or disassembling the refrigerator/freezer, which is usually a dealership price gouging experience. Folks are loyal if they’re treated right, and quality is at an all time low. Manufacturers don’t get it. A/C’s need to be two things…cold and quiet. No one cares about oscillating vents…cold and quiet.

Perhaps they are turning a corrner and not building too much junk to simply meet demand. With homes being so expensive, these moveable homes made by a RV company are good little homes but perhaps not meant to drive all over the country but just be settled down on a piece of land somewhere for awhile. The sticks and bricks home prices are so out of whack with reality. I.e. due to Airbnb's using up housing stock and real estate agents helping to drive up home prices so they can make decent profit on the sale of a home
