RWB Porsche 964 Turbo T51r mod delete.

In the last 964 Turbo video I fitted a T51r modified Borg Warner EFR8374 . I wasn't a fan. So let's see how quiet the original is & if I need to look into my own custom compressor housing modification to get the sound right.

As someone that used to be a turbocharger aerodynamicist I am glad you switch back to the original housing. The amount of time spent optimising the geometry of those anti-surge channels is massive. I used to have 10 covers made up with 0.5mm variations and have them all mapped on test cell to find the optimum map width and stage efficiency.

You have just saved me lots of money and time by not getting the T51R mod🤑🤑. Since I recently upgraded my EFR9180 with the SXE style compressor housing, there has been almost no turbo spool sound with the SXE cover. But after watching your video, I think I'd rather have the silence than the whistle all the time.

It may not be the most whooshy compressor housing, but at least it doesn't sound like someone using a Dremel now. There is a satisfying chatter and it sounds more period correct for a 964 turbo IMO.

I liked the idea of the sound on boost. I didn't think it would make an annoying whistle at 1% throttle & 1500rpm. It's not really very confusing.
