Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to RWBY Vol. 9, ep 9!!!! So we have a lot more of the pieces starting to come together, including confirmation of what you guys have been saying for ages, that Lewis was the one who survived and wrote the book! So then did Alyx die, or.....is she still here somehow? Also, it was nice to see the group have a moment, but I wish Ruby could have been there! :((((( It seems like they're starting to fully realize a bigger picture with this whole Ever After situation. And meanwhile, Ruby is on her own journey...will she become someone else? Will she become Summer?!?!?! I don't know, but I want her to feel something other than this pain!!!! I just don't know how they're gonna wrap this up....!!! Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

Ruby's journey this season has been amazing to watch. I knew for a few seasons that Ruby needed to break so she could grow. They made her very relatable in her breaking.

I view Ruby drinking the tea as trying to take her life, not succeeding and being brought into counselling by the tree. Ascension is change not death as we were led to believe

For sure in that moment she just wanted it to end, there's A LOT more going on in her head in regards to ascension but she expected and wanted to die in this moment. Saying to the tree "i didn't expect to be here" she wasn't sure ascension was actually a thing.

The scariest thing is that Ruby was on this path regardless of being in ever after or not, but being here and learning of ascension, that in this place you don't just die you can be remade may have made it easier for Ruby to make her choice, and gave the team just enough hope not to break completely. But think of how lucky they actually were to fall into a "safe place" to go through this. If they stayed in remnant and this all played out,and yea it would have, Ruby would be gone. It's truly terrifying thought.

Well that's haunting that she was going to become suicidal inevitably and falling into the Ever After was the one thing that allowed her to come back

Being an older person here, the weight of the past can get heavier over time. It is how we bear that weight that makes a person. That said, Ruby & Jaune need to go thru this..... For better or worse. I don't have much to say at this point. Except that I have faith in what's to come. Keep your hope!!

Idk if anyone has mentioned this, but the voice actor for the Curious Cat is also the voice actor that did Tuxedo Mask in Sailor Moon! Just a fun fact lol

I wanna point out that in the moment Ruby tells the tree exactly what she wanted to be and how everything just fell apart around her is very important. Because in most hero stories be it superhero’s or otherwise there’s always a tragedy. But nobody ever gets their view on the aftermath of their efforts after the tragedy, after becoming the hero. This is Ruby a young heroine that has been dragged through the worst and shattered simply because she recognizes the misery and destruction her heroic efforts (no matter how justified or righteous they were) had caused. Her entire team and friends had taken lives at this point or caused them by proxy, her plan caused 2 cities to be wiped off the map entirely. I can understand why she needed to break down. But it’s also important for her to recover and come back stronger than before…❤

First one of your RWBY reviews I caught live! I viewed the tea-drinking as a *failed* attempt on her life, and now that the moment has passed... She doesn't really want to die, she just wants to not hurt anymore.

As someone who has been that depressed before the whole reasoning for these thoughts is always just wanting the pain to stop and it just gets to the point that is the only thing we can think of to stop it so even the tea was a attempt to stop the pain

Hmm, I've noticed that the lady in the tree was working on something... kinda like how she was working on the wings that looked like the Herbalist's wings. Almost as if she makes them a new body if they choose to ascend

It is true that you get to choose what you want to become when you ascend but the choice is all yours but at the same time you can also choose to move on to the afterlife if you want instead of ascending

A great reaction as ever. This volume has been really, really, really, hard to watch for those of us who love these characters, it tore at my heart like nothing since the end of Volume 3. One thing RT has always done really well in RWBY (IMHO) has been character growth, and I feel volume one has been all about showing Ruby dealing with everything she's been internalising (and hopefully eventually overcoming?) I had hoped that somehow Summer might have been connected to the tree and re-met Ruby... I had to go and watch Suzume at the flicks to cheer myself up after these episodes!

Jaune got his answer.....too some extent..... creepy truth on aylx....and i find it odd yang and Blake smiling while hugging jaune because they were concerned for Ruby and forgot about it few moments after seeing the geogems

Alyx want to fix what she broke including Jaune. Jaune said Juniper find him and help, before poisoning we didn't saw Juniper anywhere. So after Cat killed Alyx she become Juniper and came back to help Jaune.

They are portraying it as Jaune was wrong but he was right all the time. Your memories, experiences are what makes you who you are. When pleasers erased that, they technically died. They don't remember the good they made, the friends they made. Moving on is one thing, but this ... I don't know how I feel about this message.

Nah, I'm put most of blame on Yang. You know how siscon level overprotective Yang towards Ruby through overall volume and that girl just say "nah, she got this" in this volume.

Yang didn't do that at all though. She asked whether Ruby was okay and was either brushed off or something pulled their attention away. I don't think people realize how easy it is, even for friends and family, to miss signs of depression and mental anguish in others when they're keeping it to themselves. Blaming any specific person seems like it misses the point of that.
