RWBY Theory - The Darkest Timeline: Pyrrha's Return and Final Wish

As much as I would love Pyrrha fully returning, I think it’s gonna be something more like one of the gods showing Jaune the afterlife and Pyrrha in it or maybe Jaune having a near death experience and seeing her. She wouldn’t be there for the rest of the series but she would give Jaune a word of advice for the rest of his life

Cinder Death Theory: Ruby weakens her with silver eyes, Cinder somehow escapes and she meets Jaune and he fights her in her weakened state he would hit away her bow and an arrow as she tried to snipe him, then Jaune would ask her ''Do you believe in destiny?" Cinder would become angry and attempt to stab Jaune as she gets shot by an arrow in her heart by her OWN bow, and then Jaune turns revealing Neo holding Cinder's bow. It would be a deja vu moment and I would really like to see both Jaune and Neo take revenge somehow- If you read all of this thank you.

I can predict a trope where a villain dies and the immediate surroundings will start to crumble like some type of underground area where the fight took place, and neo would pull jaune his feet and point to the fastest way out before shattering herself leaving him to escape alone while she is safely someplace else, that just my idea of what would happen after the pyyrah return theory

As sad as this is, I really like this theory. I've had one of my own tossing around in my brain. I think Jaune and Pyrrha are supposed to parallel Salem and Ozma. The difference is that, unlike Salem, Jaune will not be temped to bring her back. He understands that she made a choice, and that she fought for what she believed in. He loves her still, but he has accepted her death and made peace with it, like Salem could not. I think this will be the tipping point The Brothers need to see that humanity can continue.

The way I look at it, it’s just really stupid. While I loved Pyrrah and her death punched me in the heart, bringing her back in such a ridiculous way and then immediately killing her just seems like a cheap way to pull at the audience’s heart strings. When someone dies they’re gone forever. No matter how much you miss them, it’s impossible to bring them back. Bringing someone back from the dead is simply denying the grim reality of death and makes it harder to take any character deaths from beyond that point seriously.

Because pyrrha dying had an impact to a bunch of teenagers. That death of a very well known celebrity/student had emotionally steeled mainly team Jnr. Allowing them to grow through the emotions of grief. Team rent although did get affected it was not as emotionally attached as jnr's team. But still had taught them to face every fight seriously as their lives depended on it. Of course the academic of the rwby teams art style and fighting style has changed to rather more stale. It comes to show that everyone in team rwby isnt fighting cause they can and its all fun and games but every single thing they do can essentially kill them if they aren't ready hence why every fight has been so serious and less flashy. Pyrrha was a catalyst of grief for a good time which had made team rwby and jnr stronger with every passing moment. Of course they all seem to look like they had gotten nerfed but its the development overtime that makes pyrrha's death so important. That it feuled everyone to act like a huntsman. I only hope everyone does slightly more flashy moves again but still keep that stern and serious fighting potential.

It was different because they plan on bringing her back. The flowers at her memorial are red lily flowers which in greek myths are a symbol of "reincarnation". Theres something more with her in the story

Her death is not just a brave person who failed. Notice as she dies there is a strange glow from Pyrrha, as something floats up from the wound (it's not fire that doesn't make sense.). There's also the song references which strongly implies that her role isn't finished. Like Phoenix/Night brings up, I don't think Pyrrha's return will be seen as a good thing in-universe. As he noted Pyrrha is, by her nature, a tragic character with a sad end no matter which way the story goes. I'm rather keen to the idea of the Maiden with Two Souls theory and there's a bit more circumstantial evidence he could have used, had he wanted to.

@Isaac Moring RWBY hasn't really gotten dark. Cinder just randomly murders side characters/extras and spares anyone with some plot armor. They killed off some fan favorites to "raise the stakes" and then proceeded to resurrect two of them. There is nothing dark about the fight scenes or mental states of the characters either. Yang literally cured her PTSD by murdering someone and immediately was rewarded by RT with a girlfriend. RWBY and JNPR are still extremely cheerful (and STUPID) during their impending apocalypse. As far as I can see, the main characters are in an extremely childlike headspace for all they've been through together. Ruby had to drag Qrow up a mountain while poisoned and she doesn't seem an ounce more mature.

Why does this make so much sense.... Because I get the feeling with the maiden powers. Possibly they gain some of the soul and memories of the previous weilder had and the aouls stay dormant until absolutely necessary. Like. I can definately see Pyrrha fighting within Cinder's body and holding her back for only mere moments to tell jaune or whoever is fighting her to kill her. I am not much of a theorist for anime and shows that i watch but these things has got me thinking as of what might happen in the last 2 volumes... Ren and Nora falling to the hand of Cinder and Jaune being the last one standing would be devastating. But it would also make sense. Because he has mora aura than they do if we are going by what pyrrha said in volume 1. She said he had a lot of it. And the way i am picturing it is that he has a lot of it, but not a whole lot more than ren or nora. Just enough to outstand them i guess. Oof... Season 8 through 12 are going to be ***WILD***

Uno reverse card: Jaune uses his semblance of Aura strengthening to allow Pyrrha to hold on to her soul and push back against the Grimm infection. I would say it probably doesn't undo the corruption but maybe it does buy Ruby a chance to purify her or provide another vital opportunity like if the staff had to come into play to create a new body. Most of all I just want the gladiator waifu to come back or else I'll be sad.

The cast is bloated and many characters don't get enough screentime or development (some even get tons of screentime and NO development), but who exactly could fill the role Pyrrha filled? I don't think anyone could. That's why the fandom was so torn up about her death.

That is a very interesting scenario, and one which I definitely could see as plausible. It would allow Pyrrha to return briefly (and possibly get a bit more closure for Jaune), without invalidating the emotional blow that her death in volume 3 was. And while you're right that your scenario would be tragic and heart-rending, I think that would make sense, particularly for something involving Pyrrha. Pyrrha's death was the moment that changed the tone of the series forever, the moment that told the audience and the other characters that there would be no simple fairy-tale ending. In a basic fairy tale, Pyrrha would have defeated Cinder, or Ruby would have shown up just in time to save Pyrrha and turn the tide; the fact that those didn't happen and that a main character died at the villain's hands instead was the moment we all learned that the light-hearted childhood of the early volumes had now irrevocably given way to a dark and dangerous transition into a darker world.

Well said. It really was Pyrrha’s death that let us know none of the characters would truly be safe. This isn’t just a fairly tail we can’t always save everyone people die and get hurt even if they are the good guys even if they are to be the hero’s. Pyrrha and before that the penny death and the significant damage done to Blake and yang told us all where we stood and it was a devastating surprise. Even as we(I) saw the hints that things were going terribly wrong I kept hoping that we were going to find out that we’d stop it just in time that they could be safe and save each other I kept wanting it to be true even as it all added up and then they weren’t hinting anymore and along with the characters that hope that innocence shattered and the truth was revealed. It was amazingly done and absolutely devastating. The show hasn’t pulled the emotional punches much the world of ruby tuned out to be darker then expected

I don't think the relic of creation can do a full revival unfortunately. The God of Light said 'that is not creation' when the God of Darkness brought back Ozma and since the god of light created the relics, it likely won't be able to revive someone. I could be wrong though

Ok so i see one but only one way they could bring her back and not break everything they have done with Jaune, she comes back but she has absolute minimum aura as to not be a grim and no semblance (something like that got corrupted by the grim) and Jaune has to protect her and then they reform their bond over a volume or 2 and she keeps helping them get better but cant fight anymore.

I love this theory, and it sparks off a couple of ideas for me. I'm down for something like this happening as long as they give continue to give subtle hints to it, such as Cinder being confused for a second, obvious enough that SOMETHING is happening but nobody has a clue. I really want this theory to be true so much. If they continue to plant those hints, it could work out really well. Not necessary, but I would love it if they put some flashbacks of these hints as Pyrrha was revealed so the fandom doesn't go crazy and say the writers have lost their minds and chucked her in there out of nowhere rather than planning it well in advance. Just imagine if they pulled off something like this (but better): (Cinder struggles as the Grimm takes over, then as she sighs and falls unconscious, scene cuts to black) (Echo) "You know Neo, somebody once asked me if I believed in destiny..." (Quick flash of vol. 8 scene of Cinder becoming randomly confused before shaking it off and wondering what on earth is wrong with her). to." "Her aura..." "Her LIFE... would be intertwined with yours..." (Cuts to an extended part of Pyrrha screaming as the maiden powers/Amber's aura flows into her and then a black background graphic of her green aura and the maiden powers becoming entangled before partially flowing back into Cinder and becoming entangled with Cinder as well) (Cuts to Winter telling Penny) "She's a part of YOU now." (Cuts back to reality) Super Grimm Cinder as she closes her orange eye as she falls, hits the ground and lays there for a second... and it snaps open again... green. That would be truly magnificent.

My hopeful scenario for Pyrrha's return is just as Jaune is about to kill Cinder, Pyrrha breaks through and tells him to do it but he can't bring himself to strike her down. Cinder temporarily regains control and throttles him and just as he's about to run out of oxygen, Ruby arrives and gives a devastating blast of her eyes that completely destroys the Grimm arm. Aura depleted completely, Ruby yells at Jaune to "Do it! Kill her, now's your chance!" but he tells her "it's Pyrrha! She's in there" which Ruby can't believe but Pyrrha breaks through again to confirm it. Shocked, Ruby asks how but Pyrrha looks at Jaune and tells him to stab Cinder as it's the only way to finally kill her. Tearfully he runs her through and Cinder's conscience ceases to exist and Pyrrha's is all that remains. Thinking quickly; Jaune uses his semblance and boosts her aura levels which are now red in place of amber orange. Ruby warns Jaune he's in danger of running out but he doesn't listen, refilling Pyrrha's aura until he eventually passes out. He awakens to find he is on the airship and is surrounded by Pietro, Maria, Penny and Team's RWBY and JNPR with Pyrrha by his side and her hand clutching his tightly. She kisses him and he holds her head in his hands. Looking directly into her eyes and with a teary smile he whispers to her "Welcome back"

This is the darkest place to go series wise and they could do it this way but I don't think it will be like this. The devil is in the details as they say. M/K writing on this has been laid out from day 1 haha I love it. No one believed me for years but I knew the moment miles said his favorite show was avatar I knew what they were up too haha. You're welcome too for the "mirror shot" info too I provided haha. Jaune's Aura Amp so perfectly named and kept vague for so long until he saved Weiss. The melody of "forever fall" played when he saved weiss btw so keep that in mind :) He said it himself he doesn't heal people their aura's do that but he amplifies them. Jaune I believe will use his aura amp to extend his aura then Cinder gets caught in the blast healing Pyrrha and reincarnating her however it comes. Once pyrrha is back that way you'll see her have the ability to control Cinder more and more. Also remember he will heal cinder too so he may affect her Grimm arm as well maybe healing that part of her as well destroying it in the process. I believe Jaune's semblance is the key not the grimm arm. The Grimm arm is eating her yes but it's not gonna eat her then make her soooo weak one day that pyrrha's soul then takes over. Think about it we need a good solid "catalyst event" to happen to make pyrrha come back. The Grimm arm is already making Cinder weaker why hasn't pyrrha come back now ? what does it need to do eat another arm or leg to awaken pyrrha? From a writing standpoint the setup has been Jaune. It's not going to be the "catalyst" to awaken pyrrha. If Jaune doesn't aura amp her she will continue to be dormant until the grimm are just eats her up too with cinder. The Grimm arm is only a "crippling" weakness according to salem as long as her lust for power keeps it in check but because Pyrrha's soul is in Cinder she is losing the fight with the Grimm arm causing it to continue to devour her because her lust for power is weaker. These forces cannot continue to go on at this rate as the Grimm arm does continue to eat away at her. Somethings gonna break and I think its cinder/grimm arm not pyrrha herself. In short if this did happen Jaune's semblance could easily aura amp pyrrha saving her from a grisly fate like you say. He doesn't have "alot of it" for nothing. Final thought- Grimm human hybrid would be cool to see but practically it has some issues namely why hasn't salem created said beast before? She's had thousands of years why now of all times to just start it. I don't think grimm and humans are that compatible it's a parasite/host relationship it just seems too cliche for M/K to do. They know everyone thought about the grimm/human hybrid thing not saying they won't but they've joked about it before and don't seem to wanna take that route. I think they want her return to obviously to be through Jaune's semblance and make it a little happier for her. It's the only thing that can bring her back soul wise as the "catalyst" to reincarnate her. It has the potential power to basically aura amp and possibly restore her body and heal it too. The problem with the theory is that the grimm arm eats cinders aura and body to the point where there's probably gonna be nothing left to survive including pyrrha and then she's just expect to return at that last moment and ask Jaune to kill her? Melo-drama much M/k? Having Jaune Kill pyrrha with his bare hands as a mercy kill last sec would actually go to the realm of very controversial messaging of euthanasia which actually I wouldn't think they would want to cross as it is controversial and sensitive to many people. Ignore me and do that to pyrrha? Sure go for it M/K but expect a nightmare PR backlash from alot of people not just arkos fans. There's a reason it's illegal in most states in the US. Many people consider it wrong to do even to people you love. Especially in this case because he has a semblance that could save her. No the Aura Amp is a plot device they can use whenever they want to do whatever they want from a healing standpoint with Pyrrha. Jaune would use his power to save Pyrrha from this horrible fate. Trust me they've planned this from the start :) They know alot of fans wanna see them cute arkos babies. They just have to make us work for it. Anything dealing with mercy killing or suicide in shows you have to be careful with and as "dark" as rwby tries to be I don't think they would go that far and even if they did they wouldn't actually go through with it. It becomes a PR messaging nightmare IMO and the editor will push back on them hard.

I have feeling, the Relic of Choice might be one of the most powerful one. Think about it, Ozpin never do this on purpose, kept Maiden and Relic under his watch until Salem finds out. Plus, I'm wondering why would Salem has to choose Fall Maiden powers for Cinder in the first place? 🤔 I guess Oz and Salem might know the capabilities and powers of Crown of Choice.

I like this theory. I personally felt like Pyrrha thought of Ruby or Jaune in her final moments to make Cinder think she gained the full power of the Fall Maiden. Ozpin explained to Pyrrha how the maiden powers were transferred, and why they wanted to try and transfer the powers to Pyrrah (because it was too much of a risk for Amber to die and still have Cinder in her final thoughts.) With Pyrrah knowing this, that's why she mocked Cinder by asking her if she believed in destiny. Pyrrah believed it was her destiny to fulfill all of the challenges presented to her, and she could see that same ambition in Cinder. I feel that even in death, Pyrrah was not going to let Cinder fulfill her destiny because she didn't get to fulfill hers so she refused to let Cinder be in her final thoughts. To me, it explains why Ruby heard Pyrrah in her dream back in Volume 4; Not because of Jaune rewatching the old training video that Pyrrah made for him. (Her voice was steady and collected in the video compared to the ghostly, frantic voice we heard before Ruby wakes up.) I think anything is possible at this point.

That would be nice but I also have a theory on summer rose Salem is holding summer hostage and during the final battle her holding cell breaks and she (from behind Salem) uses her silver eyes while ruby uses hers from in front, Salem gets hurt and falls over, ruby and summer see each other and are distracted and ruby gets knocked out, summer runs to her side to help her but summer is weak so yang runs over to help. Then ruby wakes up and everyone else has defeated thei4 enemies so Pyrrah (she would have been saved by jaune) jaune, REN, Nora, rwby summer and Oscar/ozpin would focus on Salem together At the end of the battle ozpin dies but Oscar lives and as to why I didn’t mention qrow, he would have been killed therefore motivating everyone even more.

Honestly we got great character development from Jaune. I want Pyrrha back or even a sign that she’s by their sides. I don’t think she should come back bevaise penny already has. Because she was robot and could come back. I don’t think there’s a possibility for her to come back. The man with two souls is about ozpin. BUT, only because the GODs granted that to him. What if the small portion of fall maiden that was in Pyrrha, being a new and not entirely certain situation, had a different reaction then what we were told. What if when Pyrrha died, her feelings for Juane were so strong that regardless of gender or other possible walls that they say can’t be broken, the portion of Pyrrha, Amber, and the Fall maiden powers, transferred to some part of Jaune’s soul, perhaps somehow in his heart there lies a dormant power, a gift from Pyrrha, and when he comes to terms with her loss and maybe begins to have more character, he might figure out how to use this power, and (in my mind), Pyrrha would become like Jarvis, speaking in Jaune’s mind. It would be funny primarily to me if he were to go out with Weiss, because nobody would believe he hears voices, and he would probably think he’s going mad, so if he went out with Weiss to help him move past it, Pyrrha would be like, proud, but also jealous, and I think it would just be depressing but also sweet. But also I just want to see Jaune lose someone else and start sobbing, and then the little maiden flames start emitting from his eyes. But all that aside, I do like this theory of yours, even if it is sad. I appreciate your care for these theories you produce and for the community you’re building, you’re a pretty cool dude. (I know that you’ve read some of my comments before so I thought just in case I should add this here.)

I can remember when you posted one of your older Return of Pyrrha theories, which I believe involved the Staff of Creation if I remember correctly, and it was something that I found to be an intriguing theory about how Pyrrha could possibly return. Then after Volume 7 ended, I began to speculate even more about what could happen with trying to use the staff to try and resurrect Pyrrha. What if somehow, the others managed to steal the staff from Ironwood, and it was Jaune who ultimately got his hands on the relic and used it to try and resurrect Pyrrha. Two ways I can see that playing out is it doesn't work at all to reflect that even these items of power have limits and Jaune is forced to accept once and for all that Pyrrha is beyond his reach, and we can see if he chooses to let her go at last or fall down a dark path of his own like Salem did. Another approach that I think could work is the staff revives Pyrrha but it doesn't fully restore her, like her personality is the same but her mind is a blank slate and she doesn't remember the others and isn't the fighter she used to be, so Jaune decides it's time he pays her back in full for all the times she was there for him by being there for her. From a story standpoint, I feel like either of these approaches could work as a neat arc, no pun intended, for Jaune as he would either have to finally accept that the love of his life must be left to eternal rest or he gets the chance to be in a reversal role and help Pyrrha find her way again like she did for him at the start of the series. If I am being realistic, though, I doubt this will come to fruition largely due to how bad things are for our heroes. It's unlikely that they could get the staff now at this point not only because of what Ironwood has become and what he's done but also because Salem herself has taken to the stage herself and that makes it even more dangerous to stay in Atlas. Of course, I feel Ruby and the others will have to go back at some point to try and rescue Qrow and Robyn, which could provide them with a chance to take the staff, but even then, there are a lot of unknowns. Salem could kill Ironwood at the start of Volume 8 and take the staff and possibly capture Qrow to make Ruby and the others come to her on her terms, further complicating things for our heroes. But no matter what, how high or low the chances of my theory coming true are, though I am leaning toward low, depends on what happens in Volume 8. On a related topic, for the theories discussed in this video, something else I could see them doing to restore Pyrrha if Ruby uses her silver eyes to purge the Grimm inside Pyrrha is use the staff to give Pyrrha her actual body back. Not only would that eliminate the creepiness of Pyrrha being with Jaune in the body of the person who killed her but it would also be a neat visual display of the staff's power.

This theory makes sense. Adding onto it, Cinder might be aware of Pyrrha being inside of her, and Pyrrha might be trying to gain control of her completely. But, how do we know it’s always Cinder? It could sometimes be Pyrrha pretending to be Cinder until she finds Jaune again. She breaks out, convinces him to kill Cinder, and then he does. He then sees Pyrrha on the floor, and he rushes to her aid, using his semblance to heal her aura, and then he eventually passes out, but he wakes up to see Pyrrha by his side. That’s my take on this theory.

Whilst I have many things to say about this (and how depressing this theory is), this stands out in my mind: Early on in this video you mention Pietro creating a blank slate with regards to Penny. Towards the end you mention possibly using the Staff of Creation to create a blank slate (body) for Pyrrha's soul to be bound. Let's take a look at Penny. To quote Ozpin from v01e01 regarding Ruby, Penny's naiveté makes her, in many ways, "a smaller, more honest soul." Throughout the series we see her have a childlike fascination with the world, with a perpetual glass-half-full outlook and always a kind word. In Volume 7 we see her shed some of that innocence, especially in her conversation with Winter on the way to obtain Fria's Winter Maiden power. In many ways, she is the exact opposite of Cinder: she shows kindness towards everyone regardless of who they are (her fight with CRDL; how she asked questions first instead of blasting Robyn Hill's huntresses; her asking both Fria and Winter "are you ok?"), she was given power (her lasers, power of flight) but never hungered for it ("hunger" is the exact word used by Cinder in a flashback from either Volume 2 or Volume 3), and she only wants to protect people instead of destroy everything. I think this could go one of two ways: 1. In Volume 7 when Pietro talks about creating Penny, we see that his aura is partially depleted and has holes in it because he ripped parts of his own soul out in order to give life to his daughter. He also says that if she is deactivated again he doesn't know if he will be able to bring her back. We know that Pietro has something to do with the soul transference chambers (in the background of the picture with himself and Watts) and has access to this technology. There may be an instance where Penny is damaged/deactivated and something happens to her aura and soul (I'm not including the Maiden powers because I believe they would be transferred were Penny to "die" once again), and she is once again a blank slate as Phoenix/Night said. Cinder could be captured, forced into one of these chambers, and have Pyrrha's soul ripped out and put into Penny (possibly as a consequence of that small portion still being bound to the Maiden power she received for a short time from Amber). 2. This, I believe, is the more likely of the two options. As I said, Penny is a smaller, more honest soul. She puts other ahead of herself (I believe she would do this even if she weren't The Protector of Mantle or a huntress). As a huntress, she is willing to put her own life on the line and, potentially, sacrifice herself for others. I believe that if she were put into a position where she could sacrifice herself to save Pyrrha, she would do so without hesitation. We would lose Penny, but Pyrrha would be reborn; or we could have a Maiden with two souls and, possibly, two Maiden powers...but that's a whole other topic in and of itself. In another of Phoenix/Night's videos I commented that team JNPR is once again whole, only with Penny instead of Pyrrha. But with this video delving into what he calls RWBY's Darkest Timeline, I see a small glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel: Both are selfless individuals, willing to sacrifice themselves to protect others Both were given power (as stated in the last video Pyrrha's polarity powers are rather impressive on their own) but never abused it nor hungered for more Both have red hair and green eyes and a name that starts with P (...though this may be reaching) We may yet see Pyrrha come back in some unexpected way.

Like many of us I would like to see Pyrrha again in some fashion. I would love nothing more than for Cinder to hear "Do you believe in destiny?" before the end. A JNPR reunion would be a heartwarming touch even if it were brief and temporary. My concern is that doing this strikes me as being very difficult to write well. While its unlikely that one outcome will satisfy everyone, CRWBY and the expanded writing team have gradually been addressing issues with RWBY's plot. They have no doubt heard fans that wanted the character deaths in the series to be and remain meaningful/permanent. I think Jaune should be the one to land the killing blow on Cinder. But I wouldn't want to be the person who has to write the story up to that.

Just the fact that RWBY has shown itself capable of having corpses (Huntsman in V4, Tyrian's rampage in the rally in V7, Adam in V6), the fact that Pyrrha just turns into a cloud of sparkles seems very, very suspect to me. They call it ash or dust, but anyone can see that it looks nothing like the sort. Also, have you ever considered the information given to us in After The Fall? The plot of "the collector" kidnapping people with powerful semblances seems to line up quite nicely with Cinder putting Pyrrha on "The List" in V2 - specifically, right after Mercury identifies her semblance...

I believe choice is what pyrrha was and is always been about let me explain : I think pyrrha always had the crown of choice: -she never took it off even when wearing different outfits (even at the pyjama party and in the dorms she wears it. - she chose Jaune has her partenaire knowingly like the women in the book she knows that jaune will one day love her its a possibility she saw from the crown I also think she saw what the choice of training him would come. - she stated mumbers of times that she always had a choice but also never had one cause she chose to do what must be done. (unlike the king in the story she chose not to doubt her ways /choices.) - mercury stated her semblance is magnetic but she always seems to know her opponents choice and makes it look like she is untouchable. -she went knowingly in both the chamber and the fight with Cinder. ( if you look closely she takes a glimpse at jaune all smiley because he strong now and realize with horror what jaune choice to be a leader /hero means and the fate that await him if he chooses to go up the tower and choose to save him.) - when she dies her clothes and armor all turn to ash but the crown remains. ( also jaune enhance weapons are made of Phyrra s spear and shield but the crown is not seen or mentioned again.) - finally the "Do you believe in destiny?" line. Is the final piece of the puzzle that foreshadowing the relic of choice was hers.

For a reasonable middle ground option, what if Pyrrha's soul is removed from Cinder and united with Jaune instead? They had feelings for each other, so they could coexist really well I'd assume. Just like how Ozpin's spirit/soul resides inside Oscar and can take over when needed, it would be the same for Pyrrha and Jaune. Seeing as how maiden powers can transfer during death, maybe Penny could kill Cinder and accept the maiden power that is tied with Pyrrha's soul. Pyrrha could take over Penny's body either temporarily or forever, or Penny could transfer from her to a different body ETC? I wonder if the rule of only females being maidens can be broken in this case as the maiden power is already tied to Pyrrha. So if Pyrrha's soul were to transfer, maybe it COULD go to Jaune. Would be a spicy twist on things. You know what, this theory hinges on some fairly large assumptions One, that the previous Maidens' minds are still somewhere in the current one's rather than melded completely and irreversibly along with the powers. It's possible, though only marginally; we have seen no evidence from Cinder, Raven, or Penny to suggest they are in a "man with two souls" scenario, and it's clear Ozma functions differently from the Maidens whose power transfer system he designed. Two, that any of Amber's power or soul actually managed to latch itself onto Pyrrha. The light of Amber's aura retreated from Pyrrha's body back through the cables and into Amber when the transfer was broken. To my mind Pyrrha was never anything close to a maiden and her soul would have no reason to follow their transfer mechanic. Three, and this is more of a side one that I also think is incorrect, that the Grimm arm can do anything to the soul. I have no idea why you would think it goes anywhere beyond taking over her body, if that is indeed to happen. Everything we know about the Grimm suggests they are not just soulless, but anti-soul, and thus completely incompatible in any way that's beyond the physical. Overall it's an interesting theory that I don't see as having a big chance of coming true, but of course none of us can be sure, and if handled well would actually be one of the few well-written instances of a character coming back to life.

Side theory: Salem is holding summer hostage and during the final battle her holding cell breaks and she (from behind Salem) uses her silver eyes while ruby uses hers from in front, Salem gets hurt and falls over, ruby and summer see each other and are distracted and ruby gets knocked out, summer runs to her side to help her but summer is weak so yang runs over to help. Then they all fight together when ruby wakes up Side side theory: like this video’s theory but when jaune sees her he grabs her from inside the Grimm fog and finally returns her kiss (doing this makes Pyrrah fight more to survive because she wants to live so she can be with jaune and JNPR again) she then survives and is pulled free of the Grimm stuff on cinders body but when the Grimm stuff goes away Pyrrah is left, in Pyrrah’s body.

Pretty sure Raven and Cinders aura just flickered in V5, and didn’t fully go out. Hence how Raven used her semblance moments later. And how Cinder was able to be frozen alive, which we now know aura protects against the elements. That being said. I think this is prolly one of the few ways for Pyrrha to come back that’d work. Either returning to help briefly. Or if she lived in Cinders body, it’d have the element of JNR having to look at the person who had caused them the most strife.

I don't know exactly why but when I first read the title of this video I thought of the Shikon Jewel (Shikon no Tama) granting wishes in twisted ways. MY wish is to not have Pyrrha reincarnated as another being just to get a part of her soul extracted and transferred into a copy of Pyrrha's body.

I've been thinking about this for a little while, and let me be perfectly clear, I'm just throwing a possible story idea out there to get it off of my chest. I'm not betting on this being in the show. If there's an Odysseus character, that might imply the teleportation + grimm conversion theory. Odysseus loses a lot of his crew, sails to the underworld along the Styx, and in hell he finds, locked away and destitute... Achilles. Applied to RWBY, if Cinder's arrow is a sort of grimm 'seed', Pyrrha getting vaporized could be a way of blending her with the grimm, while also using the same transport mechanism that allows grimm to return to Salem's realm. From there, it's a long stream of torment and psychological torture, which gives the grimm negative emotions to feed on and overtake the host. Knowing what the threat's like, it's not hard to expect that if a traversable route into Salem's realm can be established, there's at least one military unit from the nearest kingdom doing recon and taking notes. Sounds like one hell of an _odyssey_ if you ask me. Again, this is purely just a Hail Mary proposal, something that sounds like it might be a cool little way to flip the table on the story while satisfying the fans. This is where it goes off the rails. IF the conjecture I just put forward is more or less correct, Ruby's silver eyes could have interrupted the process. What if some of Pyrrha's ashes failed to transfer? What's left of Pyrrha gets hit with Ruby's blast, 'wakes up' a little, and has a knee jerk reaction to go back and save her friend. Some of the ashes magnetize and drop onto and around the tower, while the rest is successfully teleported. The residue that travels through contains parts of her personality that are independent from the knowledge of her friends at Beacon, those are the parts that didn't respond. Thus, Pyrrha reforms in Salem's realm incomplete, in shock and subconsciously aware there's something missing. The villains try to torment her with threats against and bad news about her friends and what happened at Beacon, but it doesn't quite hit hard enough. She's scared, but more confused than anything. She holds out against the grimm because she's preoccupied with finding what's missing in her. Meanwhile in Beacon, the residual particles start giving way, losing their energy and shutting down, possibly permanently. That is, however, until someone gets sent up to go repair the tower's communications systems. They notices their tools keep getting stuck to these broken gears with a golden glow. They clean up the residue out of curiosity, analyze it, and start to figure out what exactly is going on, which leads them to make some interesting discoveries about the lore. Souls, aura, semblances, this residue provides something to study. After consulting with experts, they're left with two prevailing theories: one- Pyrrha's still alive, and there's a weak but residual bond keeping the soul fragments bound to the particles (implied above); two- Pyrrha's dead, and the particles were just charged up by the blast post mortem. In either case, since the sample's worth studying for groundbreaking research, a couple of engineers develop a gauntlet with a signal generator to keep the particles from fully discharging. As a perk, they tune it to essentially (and haphazardly) jerry-rig her semblance, which helps significantly with tower repairs and gives them something to work with and study. Who knows, maybe they start figuring out how to synthesize aura or develop ranged countermeasures against it. That could make for an interesting game-changer in the series. Eventually, the recon team spots Pyrrha on camera being escorted through Salem's compound. She's not looking too good, with grimm flesh growing up her neck, partway onto her face on one side, sprawling out along her chest and down one of her arms. The troop detachment watching the compound, led by the Odysseus character, puts a plan together to gather intel in a mad dash operation. The plan is to map the compound and extract their high priority asset with insider information. Set a bunch of self-destructing cameras on the roof and small breaching charges to drop them in and scan the rooms, blow the lock on the jail cell (if possible), and kick down the front door. Once the cams scan the rooms, they transmit the data to a laptop and self destruct, which _(if timed right)_ gives the team time to grab what they came for and run like hell. Now if anyone decides to raid the compound _(grand finale, anyone?)_ , they have some intel to work with. The insertion team (Odie's team) brings our beloved character back, but they don't know what's up with the grimm component infesting her. When she arrives at a treatment facility, they treat it like an infection at first and block her off from others, which only makes it worse. Eventually, somebody lets something slip, and her mom shows up. This first reunion starts to improve her condition. When this happens, the residue left behind in Vale starts to act a little more lively, like it's resonating with an external signal. It's still an overall tragic outcome, even if she's reunited with her team, because the thing that's been tormenting her the most _(loneliness and isolation, as stated in Vol. 2)_ is the only thing that seems to be happening to her all over again. If the main characters show up and say hello, she _kind of_ recognizes them, but she doesn't really remember them, which makes her upset and worsens her condition. She can feel that they're important to her and that she's important to them, but what hurts her the most is that she can't remember them even though they're important to her. This disconnect puts her right back where she started, distanced from others, untouchable and pampered on a pedestal for all to see and none to reach. As you can imagine, if this goes on long enough, with a big enough outburst, the grimm can take over, Pyrrha dies inside and the grimm takes over a corrupted meat suit, which it then uses to attack everyone she held dear. That's the bad ending. The only way for this to have a good ending is if the Vale maintenance team and the caretakers put 2 and 2 together, reunite both the corporeal and salvaged parts, and set her on the road to recovery. The doctors' orders are literally the antidote to Pyrrha's long-standing woes: be surrounded by loved ones and minimize anxiety. There's a version of the Achilles mythos that follows this sort of story line, a version of the story where Achilles's mother pulls him from a funeral pyre, resuscitates him, and in return he gives up fighting to live a normal life. It's possible, it has its sad moments that don't nullify the importance of everything that's happened, and everyone grows as a result. Plus, since the story line isn't necessarily set in stone, she could come back into the foreground as a combatant character, able to use the grimm's hunger for negative emotions as a sort of sixth sense. Starve it out, and it slowly dies off. Tempt it, and it pulls in a certain direction, guiding the host in the direction of those who are in distress. Sorry for the long-ass post, but I just want to know if this is even a good idea, and I just felt like getting this out there. I doubt Miles and Kerry would go this route, but I think this would be a way that could satisfy a lot of the audience. Obviously, there's people who'll disagree, but still, I've had worse ideas.

I think so too, considering the way they "fell into the dust" a bit like Pyrra, we can imagine that the machine has more or less triggered an interaction between his soul and the place where Ruby and the others fell when Cider interrupted the transfer process.

I've kinda prepared myself for every single character dying... Granted I would be crying the entire time but I'm ready for it
