It’s funny you mention it’s still not quite Monty’s style. It’s actually more Monty than you think. Monty made some unused Yang vs. Adam test footage before he passed away and that was used as a basis for parts of the Adam vs. Yang part. Specifically Adam’s opening move against Yang where he leaves behind the afterimages was basically a one for one recreation of one part of that test footage.

KornKernel The Blake vs. Adam is 100% post Monty CRWBY work. And it’s only really a few bits and pieces of the test footage that was used from. The test footage itself is only 1 minute long and they only used about 10 seconds worth of it to use for the Yang vs. Adam part. You can look on KZbin for a side by side comparison of this episode vs. the test footage and the only parts it really used for was Adam’s opening move, the part where he slashes Yang 3 times, and the part with Adam running around Yang and jumping up to release the energy blast. The rest of Yang vs. Adam is all CRWBY. But again go and look up the comparison video to see for yourself. It’s only 19 seconds long. There’s no need to worry. It was really just a cool way to include Monty’s animation work in the show possibly for the last time rather than them using the test footage as a crutch.

Yeah i agree, especially with all the missiles flying. In Volume 4 the gravity felt nonexistent, you can see it when Ruby & Ren attack from above. It was like the were floating instead of jumping up high & falling down with their weapons to strike. In Volume 6 it makes sense for Ruby to use her semblance more & how it’s fast enough to make it seem like she flies or dashes.

I remember reading an interesting comparison of Yang and Adam to the beast from Beauty and the beast, which i think is one of the inspirations for Blake. It talked about their semblences, personalities, and anger issues. The difference being Adam loses himself in his "beast" while Yang takes control of hers.

Glad Eric picked up on the camera work. They did some really neat stuff with the camera this volume, and I think its a big reason why the fights feel more dynamic and exciting this time round. That, along with the general improvement in choreography and pace, makes me feel like they've almost got their own fight style nailed down, post-Monty.

Yeah, they finally figured out the fighting sequence which alot of RWBY fans has been asking for since after Volume 3. Now they just have to keep this style and all is good again. I think somebody figured out the spirit Monty's style (RIP). This may take alot of work for the CWBY but it is worth it. Fights are fast-paced, energetic, well choreograph together with the music and has a sense of weight into it. Watching it makes me even more focus at the edge of my seat.

This fight and Qrow VS Tyrian really does sum up that when the writers arent being limited shits and letting the animators do their thing, that just because Monty is gone, doesnt mean somebody cant put in the effort to continue the legacy. Big props to the people that put the love and care into this fight. It's just everything I needed from Yang in the previous two volumes and even did a much better job of showing her emotional and mental trauma than that rushed tugjob in V4. I get so happy seeing it and I get happy seeing the hype pump other people up.

I like the gambit analogy (I don’t know if I spelt that right) for Adams semblance it’s pretty much spot on it can be any item I believe. He pretty much covers the item (in this case his sword) with his aura and then it takes the attacks and stores it all up for a more powerful strike. But he can only use one item at a time and it must be released with the same item. I’m not 💯% sure if that’s exactly the case but from the videos I’ve seen from rooster teeth that’s how it works.

Fun Fact: That fight scene with Yang and Adam was actually done by Monty Oum before he passed away. It was intended to be used back in Volume 3 during the Fall of Beacon when Yang came to save Blake from Adam. Instead we got Yang losing her arm.

A lot of people claim that Yang shouldn't be doing so well against Adam in this fight but when you think about it, we've never had any indication that Adam was really strong. He's been in three proper fight sequences before this and all of them where against faceless goons that Blake and Yang also took out without difficulty (If you want to compare Raven's bandits to the highwaymen of Adam's short). Even then, they do a good job of showing Adam being physically stronger than either of them if not a less skilled fighter.

Itz M3 W1Ch0 Most robots don't get the added durability that having an Aura provides. It's why the AK200's and other bots get torn apart so easily. When fighting huntsmen, who channel Aura through their weapons, regular materials look like tissue paper. This is likely the line of research that led to Penny, looking for ways to make the drones as durable and dangerous as real huntsmen.

Prince of Latveria that's my point. Huntsmen can slice through tough materials, not because their weapons are better, but because they use aura and their targets do not. This mech doesn't use aura, and as far as we know nothing synthetic we have seen other than Penny does. (Those newer model Paladins were suspiciously tough though). I was speculating that Ironwood's lines about Atlas studying what aura was and how to move it, was likely started by Atlas trying to make tougher drones and better weapons, and that is what led to the creation of Penny.

There's a lot of stuff about these later episodes of the volume that could've been much better. Hopefully RoosterTeeth just takes a little extra time to look back at volume seven and think critically about it before they publish it. The beginning and middle of this volume were good, but you begin questioning the stability of the show by the time you reach the end. Some story potential is wasted, and some things even now don't make sense. Like why would Cordovin use such a powerful piece of Atlas tech to fight a small group of people when it's important to Argus security? Then there's after the fight is over which... Cordovin's decision made no sense. At all...

In China your last name is said first when addressing someone. so when he first said his name to Nora (for example) he could have been saying his last and first.. meaning his real first name is Ren. Prince of Latveria - Ozpin said Lei Ren because that was the formal way to address him... last-first.. he always addresses the kids formally and properly almost all the time (Ms. Rose). As for Nora.. that’s where they met but who knows where she is really from. For all we know she was abandoned in Ren’s town but from somewhere else. She certainly isn’t from a Chinese background or tradition. It could also all be just as easy as when people hear Nora address him and Ren everyone else does too and his preferred name is what they go with. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Example, Aizen Sosuke is formally addressed as Sosuke Aizen by his lackeys because it's his culture. Why is Sky from Cardin's team have his last name first in their team name? Nora isn't always around Ren, of course, she'll but in a conversation to say "He prefers to be called Ren."

I wish we got an episode with Adam and what he's been doing after the ending of Volume 5 to this point besides "He was just following the group after killing the rest of the White Fang members under him." How much you all want to bet if Ruby just had a 1 on 1 conversation with Qrow back at the apartment complex, he could have gone with Blake in order to inspect the Radio Tower? He can transform into a literal Qrow and could have informed her about there being a stranger following behind them or something like that. I also don't understand why Caroline Cordovin decided to get a mech out to deal with them instead of sending a small squad of soldiers to commandeer their property. If they are able to shoot the glass and nearly break it, why doesn't someone like Ruby take shots at it from a good distance then Qrow break into the cockpit, knock her out, and then deactivate the robot?

If she tried a second time while they weren't being influenced by them and even brought Yang (if she believed it would help in this case, especially being part of their family) to kick him back into gear, I honestly think he would have gone with Ruby's plan and ask him to go with Blake in order to 2. Being pridefully like Tony Stark and showing Vegeta's level of pride are different. Example for Tony Stark: He would send out a fleet of his army to fight off against the intruders/trespassers. Example for Vegeta: He would rather fight the enemy on his own without any aid or even support in case he's about to lose. They decided to have her go with Vegeta's level of pride even though Tony Stark's would have made more sense considering she's already a leading this small Atlas base and soldiers. 3. I'm assuming Cordoven would be distracted with everyone else (Qrow, Ren, Nora, Jaune, Weiss, the two other characters in the airship) while she takes quick shots from any angle she possibly could have during the fight. Ruby could have even tried rushing towards the glass once there was enough damage done to it considering the shield generator only protected certain parts of the mech. But eh, whatever floats their boat.

The glass cracked a little on the outside. It's presumably made of many layers of composite glass. Real bulletproof glass cracks on the top layer too. But it keeps stopping rounds.

It's unfortunate that Rooster Teeth chose this route for Adam. They should have stuck with the White Fang plot instead of the creepy ex-boyfriend route. It was kind of obvious that they wanted to kill him off in this volume after what happened in the last volume. Such a shame, Adam could've been a great villain if they treated him better in volume 3 and onwards. Wasted potential imo. We didn't even get to see him interact with Weiss after we saw the SDC mark. Hopefully that comes up again in volume 7. Some even theorized that they were half-siblings.

@@maverickmak I think if Monty was in control of the story he wouldn't have made Adam this way, or at least wouldn't go about it the same way. I think Adam was supposed to be a different character from the beginning, but after Monty passed away, they kind of took him in a different direction. Since M&K didn't know everything Monty wanted to do for the characters, they probably wanted to get rid of him, but still wanted to try to do it in a good fashion. I like that they tried, but the execution was pretty poor. There was still so much we hadn't learned from Adam that made him how he was. We never got to see him being abused and mistreated. They could've executed his character in V5 a whole lot better, not just a little. They totally fucked up his character in V5, which is why they killed him off in V6 because writing fewer villains for them is better. I'm kind of glad Adam is gone so they don't fuck up his character even more than it already was. It was like they were trying to do what Monty did, but kind of gave up halfway and decided to kill him off as soon as possible.

I agree the missile catch was a weird scene but i have to disagree on the line. Blake said she isn’t protecting Yang & Yang isn’t there to protect her. They are both there to protect each other, one won’t stand in the way to save the other because both will stand in the way of danger in order to save themselves. So that resolved the previous issue they had. It’s confusing here because they didn’t talk about it before. They had that conversation in the barn then the team was just in Argus, they had this plan so if Adam didn’t show up then it would have probably been resolved facing another strong enemy.

Yang went through PTSD Don't you remember how Tai told her not to rely on her Semblance? (Even though that's not the reason she lost her arm) What about the handshaking? That was an important part of PTSD back in Volume 4/5 (Tai never actually helped her like a true parent but she has to take what she can at this point) Results: Yang's PTSD was a thing but didn't really affect her combat skill in any way, shape, or form. She had only 3 glimpses of Adam through Volume 4-6 and didn't even get slightly scared until Adam mentioned their fight back at Beacon but at least she has a arm that isn't affected by something that's able to cut right through aura.

love RWBY but cant help but dislike this episode and the next. Adams character feels like it has been bastardized by CRWBY. Their writing has never been the best but overall they tell good stories but the way they treated Adams character is just sad to me. Monty intended for him to be a tragic anti-hero who did the wrong things for the right reasons. CRWBY took Montys broken ronin freedom fighter and turned him into a rapey psycho who murders the people he wanted to protect... not trying to be a hater, i love everything else i just cant help but feel that we were robbed of what was supposed to be an amazing character with a spectacular character arc.

Adam while CRWBY was writing him: implied sexually abusive psychopath whos not only a coward but MURDERS the people hes fighting for. if you watch old interviews Monty clearly had love for this character and had something planned for him. somehow i doubt turning him into rapey creepy psycho who murders his own people was it. not to mention they turned our girls yang and blake into murderers and then have them laughing and joking 10 minutes later like taking a life doesnt register. like i said love the show, but im not blinded by my love for it.

Inside, he was exactly what Blake said he embodied: spite. He may once have believed in the cause as justification to do anything to help Faunus, but overtime his hatred and rage consumed him until it just became an excuse to hurt everyone the way he was hurt, as that was all he ever truly cared about in the end. Him becoming obsessed with Blake was just another aspect of that, so even if he didn't focus upon her, his downfall would've come in a similar manner regardless

I always hate when people ship people it's stupid but if it helps drive a story its good but it made all the moments of Blake and sons not important. Also Monty is still carrying the animation beyond the grave. And yang and Blake beating Adam made no sense you can't go from he can one shot a main character to he can't take on yang your Blake. It would be different if they trained or something but none of that happened. They destroyed his character as soon as they changed him into a angry boyfriend character. That and the whole robot fight is stupid Ruby and crew are the bad guys .the old lady has not obligation to listen to a bunch of teenagers. They caused Grimm to attack. any casualties are on Ruby and crew.
