Took me a while to realize, but salem has no Aura. Since she's essentially the essence of Grimm. Every weapon that hits her, hits her flesh and blood. My theory is that if Neo 'Did' ask Jinn the last question... (Sorry for bad english) FYI, Hazel and Gretchen are Hansel and Gretel from the original storytale of Grimm brothers (which is the name of Black Pools in the Domain of the Darkness, btw). OG characters were lured in a trap by the witch with a house made of sweets, Hazel was lured by revenge against Ozpin; "revenge is always sweet" (Die - V2 song) And now Hazel (OG Hansel) is burning the witch, telling the he will do what her sister would have done. Gretel (Gretchen in RWBY) burned the witch in the oven.

Who really knows what Neo intends to do with the Lamp, but we know she isn't loyal to Salem and her partnership with Cinder is less than stable.

Hey, do you remember the last reaction when Arnold said he thought CRWBY was going to break Ruby? I think I found a clue that might support this theory. If you look at the opening of volume 6, you can see Qrow being pulled by Grimm arms. And we all know that Qrow was conquered by his sorrows during that volume. Well, if you look at Ruby in the opening of volume 8, you see that she is being pulled by grimm arms as well. That being said, I think Arnold is right, CRWBY will probably break Ruby. Do you think it is a pattern, or do you think it's just a coincidence? Let me know, I'm thrilled to know what other people think!

Last part of intro when she fell she looks up, when she is in water(ı dont know how should ı call it) she tries to reach relic, the light, the hope but grimm arms get her. Those grimm arms also Salem used on Hazel at v6 when Salem talks about their failure so ı think more about Salem will capture her but it can be put the way you said too. She will be broken, hints are everywhere and ıt hurts me :(

After watching it again, I'm 90% sure that Salem actually took that hit at 21:31 on purpose since she kinda smirked and just kinda hanged there and didn't put up any resistance towards the hit so she could end up grabbing Hazel afterwards however she wasn't expecting him to be able to block her own hit and then Oscar's interference later on.

Yeah, I think you're right about her allowing the hit. Combat strategy fundamentally changes dramatically when all of your damage is negated. No matter how much progress her enemies make in "harming" her, every single time an exchange costs her enemy anything, she gains ground. It makes it so cool to watch her fight! Allowing your face to get sprayed across the ground just to secure a restraint is such an exotic maneuver, and she's absolutely ruthless on top of it!

I was critical of how uncontrollable Salem can be with her emotions due to how old she is and what she's been through. I've always thought that she should have better control over how she reacts. But now it makes a little more sense why she would react as she does under pressure. She's still the angry girl who wants things to be perfect, the same girl who still holds onto her pain and suffering. I still am critical about how the writers have been handling her character a little bit (not as much as before, but still a little bit). Personally, it's a little hard to take her so seriously when she reacts out of anger so much. Once or twice is good, like when Hazel mentioned Ozpin in Season 6 and she destroyed the dining room windows. That's a legit reaction that works. But the other times, like how she reacts to her minion's failures comes off as too immature and not that of a mastermind. That being said, I do see what the writers are doing with Salem's character. Her outbursts of raw emotion are because she hasn't learned anything in her immortal life. Despite having everything she's ever wanted, it was never enough. She wanted to be worshipped as a god, to rule over all, to have control over everything. And that's the problem, she thinks control will make her happy.

I think that Summer is definitely going to appear again soon, whether it'd be in this volume or not and as either a flashback or an actual return from her disappearance. Also I think your idea of Salem being out of the picture for a while may provide the opportunity for the story to shift focus on other villain characters as the next threat, such as with Cinder and Watts and the eventual confrontation with the Ace Ops and with Ironwood. The scene where Hazel set fire to himself and Salem is a historical reference to the witch burning that happened in the town of Salem, where over 20 (i think, not sure) women were burned alive under accusations of being witches, which were later found to have been innocent, and is considered to this day one of the greatests examples of the horror that can happen when fear of the unknown and mob mentality come together.

I'm so proud of Jaune. He went from barf boy to being fearless in the face of Salem's territory and nearly getting bombed to death. Also Emerald's semblance is seriously so busted. It works on grimm. It works on Salem. You can't defeat Salem but what about putting her in an endless nightmare-ish illusion?

I wondering if wat Oscar was doing, was sealing himself/hazel in a time bubble with salem, to give everyone enough time to get out of not just the explosion radius, but atlas as well. As for neo, either she took the lamp for her own agenda or cinder told her too, watts did seem surprised cinder came for him. Maybe the last question will be who/where is the summer maiden, or worse, how to break into the fall maiden vault. Since once she knows, she can easily fly over there and grab the crown for salem.

I think the warning she gave Ruby was actually because Ruby was specifically using her to pause time, and she didn't like that. In this case, Oscar was summoning her, thinking that Hazel was actually going to ask her something, and it was all just to get Hazel to finally believe Oscar, thus granting Hazel knowledge. There's that, and the fact that it seems like Jinn knew Neo was there.

This has seriously been my FAVORITE episode of the Volume, thus far! Visually stunning, so much SALEM action! Yang being the first of Team RWBY To meet Salem face to face AND fight her! AND YANG MENTIONED SUMMER!!!! I am 100% ready for a Summer Rose reveal, by the end of Vol 8.... BUT will Ruby be mentally ready, or will she be completely mentally broken, by the time Summer appears? Can't wait to see it!
