Oh hell yes! I have been waiting for y’all to upload your reactions. The fact that Yang thought she was dead until RWB showed up is just… whew boy. Imagine she thought this was going to be her afterlife. First hour and someone already took her arm and then she fought a Jabberwalker. Yikes. Talk about anything but peaceful. Man, I’ve missed this show so much. It’s been three weeks at this point and I still can’t believe it’s back. We are in for such a treat.

27:40 Cthulhu mythos would probably be another example - a great deal of what is considered "core" lovecraftian mythos is added on by the other authors who fleshed out the mythos (stuff like The King in Yellow is probably the most notable one, and many entities first named by Lovecraft are just that - named by him and never elaborated on, with their popular interpretations being fleshed out by other authors later)

The Mythos itself was actually the invention of August Derleth (Lovecraft's editor and publisher), who was the person who assigned various attributes (such as elemental affinities) to the primeval horrors described by Lovecraft in his individual stories. A lot of this detailed construct was, fortunately, later ignored by subsequent authors, but it did create the foundation of a connected mythology that continued.

Wow... Two years... It has been awhile. As short as the chapter is, I am grateful for it. Between the intro and the previews, there are a lot of theories to go with in the series, so there no reason for my brain to overload too much. Anyways, time to get back into it... *_RWBY - Volume 9_* -Chapter 1: A Place of Particular Concern RWBY quote of the chapter: _“I think we're in a fairy-tale.” (Blake Belladonna)_ -Whole New World _"Toto. I don't think we're in Kansas anymore."_ Dorothy Gail _(The Wizard of Oz)_ The mystery of a new land, far beyond anything of Remnant. It's crazy enough finding pocket dimensions within the Relic places, but now a deeper level exists to those lost. It does make you realize that the team, Jaune and Neo weren't the only people that were thrown off into the void. Remember, Cinder's initial ambush threw a lot of people off as. It is unlikely that it will be addressed, but it’s just a thought to keep in mind. It appears the place is strongly influenced by emotions. Ruby's confusion kept her from continuing on, and her sadness seemed to cause rain to fall. Something of note is that those things seemed to happen only around Ruby (although Ruby was the focal point so we have yet to see if the environment shows the other's emotions as well, as well this is just the first chapter). -Name and purpose Ruby's conversation with Little will definitely will bring her to the crossroads. Up until this time, her role was clearly defined (more or less) and a Huntress and the hero, a role that everyone around her can attest to. In Volume 2, Oobleck had questioned the motives of Weiss, Blake and Yang, but not Ruby. Later on, the three agreed that while they had their own individual issue, Ruby didn't seem to have one. She had always wanted to be like the heroes in the fairy-tales and lived accordingly. As far as they were concerned, Ruby's pure purpose made her a 'simple, honest soul'. Perhaps they _should_ have been concerned... Now in a world that really is a fairy-tale, her worldview will be challenged, more so given her previous actions. This also reminds me of an episode of _Babylon 5,_ when the inquisitor interrogated Delenn, asking her the question of 'Who are you?', telling her that names and titles are merely descriptors of who a person is. -Breakdown Hearing about the death of Penny was the straw that broke the camel's back for Ruby, once again showcasing how strong her friendship with Penny really was. And it wasn't the first time. In Volume 3, after Penny's death, when the Grimm attacked and people fled, Ruby was unresponsive, utterly in shock for a long while before returning to the fray, which is another point to factor in. A pattern for her (a one of the things that makes her a hero) is that when she hears or experiences distressing news or events, she is quick to look for a way to fix it or try to help in one way or enough, looking for a purpose to soften the pain and cope with it. But after the events of the previous volume, particularly at the end, the pressure finally caught up to her. -Intro So much was put in the intro, enough to feed the theory mill for a month. Much to guess and speculate with. But in simple points, -The team must traverse into a strange new world with new creatures -Ruby is going through an internal crisis -Neo is/or will be in charge of this place, -Jaune's fate is unsure, but it may be indicated that he may be the man in the armored helmet -Two new characters has joined the team (Little and a girl, possibly part of the story of the Girl who fell) Something that may be a case is the passage of time. Did everyone who fell not only at arrive at a different place, but also a didn't point of time? Not sure, just a guess...

As for adding the Jabberwocky to wonderland, the poem The Jabberwocky is in Through the Looking Glass as a poem Alice reads. There are a ton of poems in that book. When using wonderland as a setting people tend to draw from both books and I have noticed that a some of what we associate with Alice in Wonderland is actually from Through the Looking Glass. Just reread them recently because I was curious.

I can finally watch you guys reacting to Volume 9. I bought the volume when it released in the end of October and watched within a couple of days of getting the blu-ray. CRWBY’s work on this was amazing. I especially enjoyed the fact my friend Arryn working as a intern animator on both Volume9 and on Arrowfell. They had some cool clips and insights on the process including discussing the parts they worked on.
