It’s such a complicated thing. Because every time they did try to ask “hey, you good” Ruby shut them out or something interrupted them. That’s not even taking into consideration that they’re all so focus on trying to leave the Ever After. It’s all just a really big mess. Ruby’s completely valid in her feelings, this has been building for such a long time, but it’s still so hard to see her yelling at her team. And Jaune… oh boy. That’s another messy issue. This dude has always had a hero complex, like Ruby in some ways. “I’m tired of being the idiot stuck in the tree, I want to be the hero” to paraphrase his speech in V1. But now, mixed with all his trauma, it’s gotten to a point where he’s interfering with the Afterans’ way of life, based on incomplete information and his own assumptions/biases. On the plus side… the Bees are more in sync than ever and that fight choreo was super smooth.

I think he really regrets Pennys death, and a big part of that was her asking him to kill her. Now the afterans are doing the same thing. Probably hits really close to home.

As much as she was spiraling, there were truth in her words, and now since it snowballed into all of this, the best option now is to give her space, through the timing of such a solution is far from ideal.

Just a note we have only gotten two distress warnings. One was Penny/Pyrrha during the vytal festival, but it was sent out before the episode aired, and was to signal a major shift in tone, the second was when Penny died last season, specifically related to the themes of murder/suicide via Jaune. Other deaths didn’t get the same treatment.

Honestly, Ruby needs this. This has been building up since volume 3. Throughout the volumes, you'll notice her looking a bit down every now and then but she kept it together. It was until volume 8 where she sort of had an emotional breakdown from everything she went through. Without spoiling anything, lets just say the next 3 episodes are straws that broke on the camels back. So prepare yourselves!

The content warning was definitely needed because while in the context of the Ever After, wishing for their destruction and to move on to the next thing makes PERFECT sense. Outside of the context of the show, holy shit, some of those Paper Pleasers lines are YIKES. Smart of CRWBY. Well done.

Yeah Ruby's "we're SO happy for you" unfortunately caused people of bad faith (to put it mildly) actually think she has something against the relationship/lgbtq+ when it's just Ruby being jealous that they are happy/figured things out while she is still "left behind" and the track - Trapdoor - that is playing during the fight more or less explains it. God that was such a difficult episode to watch and you're not ready for ep 8/9.
