my fave part/s is Guide My Way's bridge (?) where she says "A moment of quite is all it takes. To reclaim a life and a promise made. I am the reflection of who prevails. I'm what inspired the fairytale." Ruby only needed a second to breathe and clear her head from all the noise that uncertainty and self-doubt. To reclaim a life is her taking control of her own life and realizing that she doesn't have to follow in someone else's footsteps like Summer or the heroes from the books. I especially love the last line. She's no longer a kid dreaming of becoming a hero and wanting to be like the heroes she read about. She herself is one of them now.

This is how I personally rank the songs from this volume. Been a musician for 16 years. This is one of the only volumes where I didn't dislike a single song. They were all really good in my books. 1. The Edge 2. Chatterbox 3. Inside 4. Checkmate 5. Guide My Way (Red Like Roses Pt. 3) 6. Trapdoor 7. Worthy (Bmblb Pt. 2) 8. Quiet

I would have hated it if the Renora confession and the Bumbleby confession would have happened at the same time. Because with everything going on one of the two would have been overshadowed. And comparing how these couples were developed, it was clear that at that moment Bumbleby was comfortable with each other and didn't feel the need to rush their relationship (which makes the Punderstorm putting them into a situation where they had to confess even more appropriate). Renora on the other hand were developed in such a way that they had to have their talk out of their own volition.

I likely would have articulated this a lot better if it were its own separate video with a script instead of talking off the cuff, but that Volume 8 Chapter 11 talking point was mostly to give an example. I wasn't saying that they actually should have confessed there. The main idea was that in the absence of a confession scene in Volume 7 or 8, the writing doesn't make up for it with a subplot explaining what's keeping them apart. I do believe the dense plot/pacing of V7-8 is why the writers held back on the confession when they knew Volume 9 would have time for it. But the key idea is that they should have "counterbalanced" the subplot in 7 or 8 to make up for that.

@@robinrising_ I do think them just enjoying each others company after what happened in Volume 6 makes a lot of sense. There was not some big dramatic reason why they didn't confess, they just took their time after everything with Adam. But I do agree at least one talk about their relationship with other people would have made it even better. But I already do like their relationship development

This OST was so fun and Enjoyable. I really hope that Rooster Teeth hires Sebastian Evans ii to help out Casey and Martian with the OST for Volume 10 cause I think that he can add some Special Flare to the Music,His work with composing music gets slept on and never gets released to the public so hiring him would be the best choice.

So RWBY has an outline with the major beats, but the details are left open. I figured as much, but it’s nice to hear it said

Yup! I'm not sure if there's anywhere specific to reference for this, but a lot of the directors' commentaries talk in that line of thought. For instance, Ironwood's arc was planned from the beginning, but things like the Happy Huntresses were made (or solidified at least) during Volume 7 to further contextualize Ironwood and Atlas. So most major character arcs have been planned/outlined from the get-go, but exactly how they are solidified would get changed over time.

In terms of perspectives in Worthy, I'm fairly certain Casey is singing from Yang's perspective, and Ariyel is singing from Blake's. I'm not entirely certain on Yang's, but I concrete on Blake's. From only ever knowing the fight referencing her being a Faunus and having to grow up knowing hoe to fight in order to protect herself (though that definitely could've been shown or developed more in the show), to talking about catching "you" this time referring to not catching Yang when she fell into the void. That one is pretty clear to me. Casey's verse is a little more vague, though. Edit: To provide a ranking of this volume's soundtrack, it goes as follows. 1. The Edge 2. Checkmate 3. Trapdoor 4. Worthy 5. Inside 6. Chatterbox 7. Quiet I also came up with a top 15 RWBY songs in general a while ago, with The Edge at the top. That is probably still the case. But some of these songs will make me completely change that list. Not a big deal, though. If I can decide upon a top 15, I'll list them in another edit.

i honestly feel its the opposite way round for the perspectives in worthy as i believe bmblb is from mostly yangs perspective so it makes sense she would be the ones singing the bmblb parts here and lines like "surrender to a softer side " feels more fitting for yang in the context of the confession as blake has always had a soft side and yang has always been the tough one and blake was the one having to convince yang to confess thus yang giving into to a softer side honestly i can see it both ways but there are certain lines in ariyels parts that fit yang more to me, like i read the catching part as how she would usually always catch gambol shroud and only ever knowing the fight because shes never had a relationship before she was only interested in fighting meanwhile blake is the one worried about losing yang again like in caseys verse after thinking she lost her in v8 and the lines "you fell and suddenly i did too" makes sense for it to be blake singing as im pretty sure yang was the one who fell for blake first also to me it feels more fitting for blake to be saying "now i know im worthy of you" considering how she felt lots of guilt about what happened to yang and everything with adam and so she didnt feel worthy of yangs love after she caused her so much pain also "never was given a love like this" feels more appropriate for blake as she has had love before just not like this from what we know yang had never had any romantic love in her life so she would have nothing to compare to but for blake its like a whole new experience having true unconditional love

@@MigliLovania Almost everything you said and every line you mentioned I interpret very differently. Surrendering to a softer side seems to me to be referencing the fact that Blake has always had a wall up, not letting other people get close to her and not letting herself get close to anyone else. So surrendering and allowing herself to be close kinda matches with that. I'm not really sure what Yang catching Gambol Shround has to do with anything, though. I think that's a bit of a reach. "You fell and suddenly I did, too" could definitely be from Blake in regards to her falling in love with Yang as well as her literally falling into the void after Yang did. But I feel it's too vague to really mean anything. Also because Blake is so closed off in the earlier volumes, it's hard to really tell when she fell in love with Yang. "Now I know I'm worthy of you" feels more like Yang to me. Again, Blake is usually very guarded and defensive. To someone else, that can seem like that person hates them. But knowing that Blake doesn't hate her would allow herself to feel that way. Yang is also a more confident person, and saying something as arrogant as that fits her character a lot. "Never was given a love like this" is definitely more appropriate for Yang. It's not saying she's never been given a love, just not one like this. What Blake experienced with Adam wasn't love, and I doubt she'd ever talk about it in that way. But Yang has experienced love from her father and her sister, as well as her friends. But she's never had a relationship before, so this would be entirely new to her, as you said. And that's WHY it fits Yang. Also, let's not forget that Bmblb came out in the Volume 4 soundtrack, when Yang never thought about or mentioned Blake. And in Volume 5, she was angry at her for most of the Volume. Definitely not the state of mind in which I could imagine her being the one to sing Bmblb. Blake, on the other hand, faced the fact she left her friends, including Yang, several times in Volume 4. She felt guilt not only over what happened to Yang, but for leaving her. And that, to me, seems more of the kind of person who would fantasize and imagine a what if scenario in which that never happened. That is, of course, if Bmblb is entirely or almost entirely from one perspective. I'd have to listen to it again to really know for sure.

Bumblebee is a complicated relationship for me. On the surface, I like everything. I understand why they got together, and I can look back in previous volumes and spot things that help inform their characters and their relationship later on. On paper it all works. I would have appreciated a discussion about what actually happened between them at some point before actually getting together, though. Volume 6 and after they don't talk about anything. We understand each of their individual reasons for being there and eventually getting together from Volumes 4 and 5, but they never talked about that with each other. And if they never talked about it in Volumes 6, 7, and 8, then it SHOULD have happened in Volume 9 in the Punderstorm. It's moreso a problem of execution for me. But I don't necessarily want to say that either because I think it well executed for most of the show. Also, regarding Renora's discussion in Chapter 10... I hated it. As someone who relates to Ren a lot as an introvert who hides away emotionally, suppressing everything, everything Ren said felt very inaccurate and disingenuous. And Nora's stuff felt disingenuous as well as someone who knows Ren well enough to know all of that but still not bring it up in open conversation. Though I suppose I can understand if maybe she was just talking in anger despite knowing what she was saying was wrong.
