What about the transmission side of the axle? Is it plugged up with something or it doesnt have to be?

These older Subaru’s have a sealed stub shaft the cv axle slips onto and is held in place by a roll pin. So nothing needs to be done with it when the axle is removed.

You'd need a hell of a lot more power, and also the dynamics of an AWD powerslide are completely different from a RWD drift. Sure, you can do it, but it's not nearly as compatible with tandems or drift trains.
